2024 Top Texas Senior Living Communities

Everyone gets older, but some of us need a little extra help during our senior years. If you’re looking for senior living and care for yourself or a loved one it can be overwhelming. What level of care is needed? are all services included? What happens if more care is needed? Researching all the local options is a task that can be confusing and cumbersome.

Thankfully, we did all the research for you and ranked what we consider the best living in Texas. We did our best to find communities in the most popular parts of the lone star state. There are 15 communities listed here, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other great communities to choose from. Contact us and let us know or search our senior living directory.

Tip to Pay for Senior Living in Texas: Medicaid
Depending on the senior living community, the monthly costs can add up. Medicaid helps folks with limited assets and low incomes cover health costs. It is a joint state and federal program, and some of the health costs Medicaid helps to cover include long-term care. Each state has its own guidelines, but either through the general Medicaid program or via Medicaid waivers, many senior living costs are covered. The Texas state Medicaid office has additional information.

Ranking The Best senior Living Facilities in Texas

Ranking anything isn’t easy, along with facts and figures there’s also opinions to consider. We researched hundreds of reviews from Google and Facebook. We then compared them with community ratings and comments from our own users for a final score from one to five. Finally we made sure there were no major violations or complaints with TX Health and Human Services.

The median monthly price for Texas assisted living communities is about $2,600. Costs can fluctuate due to cost of living from one area to another. The level of care needed by the senior resident will also majorly factor into the final sticker price. Independent living is the cheapest since no care is provided, but memory care and skilled nursing care will costs thousands more a month.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Bridgemoor Transitional Care – Fort Worth:

My 91 year old father was released from the hospital with the provision that he move into assisted living facilities. He had previously been in another facility (after hip replacement) and it was not a good experience for him or the family. Bridgemoor was the complete opposite. The facility is clean and bright, the food that was prepared for him was excellent and plentiful. There are plenty of opportunities to remain active, both mentally and physically. Dad was also made more comfortable by having his own furniture. All of this made for a nice experience, however, the real difference-maker is the staff. The director (Luke Fritz) and the nursing care could not have been more caring or accommodating. The facility is small enough that everybody receives the personal touch, for instance, when my dad expressed a desire for some strawberries, Luke drove to the grocery store and got dad fresh strawberries. I have no hesitation in recommending Bridgemoor to anybody.

Is an excellent community for those individuals looking to have all care needs in one location. The independent living section for active retired folks offers lots of activities and opportunity to be as social or private bas you choose. When the time comes that you need Assisted living its only a short move from one side of the property to another. Here you have people around the clock available at the pull of a cord. And when you need round the clock nursing care. They have skilled nursing and long term care on property. People seem happy to work here and you can see that they want to be here. And the popcorn and cookies they offer at the entrance help too!

We chose Avanti Senior Living after visiting other assisted living communities for our mother. She has only been here 3 months, but we are totally satisfied with our decision. Making the choice to move our mom here was difficult, but Avantis staff made the transition easy for everyone involved. This is definitely her home.

What residents and loved ones have to say about The Village at The Triangle:

I give the highest praise to the staff and Administration of the Triangle for the masterful job they have done over the past year. The skill and kindness with which they cared for our families in this difficult time will never be forgotten. My mother has lived at the Triangle since it opened both in Independent Living and ultimately in Memory Care. The transition was made during the Pandemic and while difficult under normal circumstances was far more so when family could not participate. We are thankful for the caring professionals who made it as easy as possible. We give the highest possible recommendation for the Village at the Triangle.

What residents and loved ones have to say about The Village of Southampton:

This facility is amazing. Brand new, state-of-the-art, gorgeous facility. True answer to our prayers. My mother started in assisted living about 2 months ago. My parents divorced 30 years ago, but my father was so impressed, he signed up for independent living. Kind of strange to have them under the same roof (albeit, in different apartments) once again. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They make it look easy, but lord knows, few could do their jobs. The food plan is on a point system (one point equals $1), but I would challenge you to find the quality of their food at a restaurant for less than 3x the cost. I cannot recommend this facility highly enough. If anyone who reads this review has any questions, please reach out. I am not an employee, and am not am I being compensated in any way. Just a believer in their good work.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Vintage Health Care Center:

I’m in the Village at Denton. The staff is very good and friendly. There are six floors with, I think, 15 people per floor. They have a barber shop, a workout room, and their own restaurant, and activities where they go to different parks and different restaurants about once a week. There are some restrictions, like you can’t smoke around their facility and you have to keep your dog quiet. There are about eight tables in the dining room and six people seated per table.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Parklane West Healthcare Center:

The facility itself is absolutely beautiful. My grandmother was very sick and would love just to sit in their garden area. She stated once that the air just smelled differently there and it was so peaceful. The staff was very accommodating to all of her needs. I personally was touched when I showed up and everyone knew who I was because they had taken the time to get to know her. They would ask her about her pictures which would help her to reminisce on great past memories. I would recommend this facility for anyone.
