2026 Top Texas Senior Living Communities

Everyone gets older, but some of us need a little extra help during our senior years. If you’re looking for senior living and care for yourself or a loved one, it can be overwhelming. What level of care is needed? Are all services included? What happens if more care is needed? Researching all the local options is a task that can be confusing and cumbersome.

Thankfully, we did all the research for you and ranked what we consider the best living in Texas. We did our best to find communities in the most popular parts of the lone star state. There are several communities listed here, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other great communities to choose from. Contact us or search our senior living directory.

Tip to Pay for Senior Living in Texas: Medicaid
Depending on the senior living community, the monthly costs can add up. Medicaid helps folks with limited assets and low incomes cover health costs. It is a joint state and federal program, and some of the health costs Medicaid helps to cover includes long-term care. Each state has its own guidelines, but either through the general Medicaid program or via Medicaid waivers, many senior living costs are covered. The Texas state Medicaid office has additional information.

Ranking The Best senior Living Facilities in Texas

Ranking anything isn’t easy, along with facts and figures there’s also opinions to consider. We researched hundreds of reviews from Google and Facebook. We then compared them with community ratings and comments from our own users for a final score from one to five. Finally we made sure there were no major violations or complaints with TX Health and Human Services.

The median monthly price for Texas assisted living communities is about $2,600. Costs can fluctuate due to cost of living from one area to another. The level of care needed by the senior resident will also majorly factor into the final sticker price. Independent living is the cheapest since no care is provided, but memory care and skilled nursing care will costs thousands more a month.

I have been a resident of Meadow Lake Retirement Community for 11 1/2 years, and I love it. There is none other in all of East Texas that compares. We are like one big happy family. We care for each other, check on each other, pray for each other, etc. You can be as involved or as uninvolved as you want. You can meet your friends for a delicious meal in our luxurious dining room ordering the chef”s choice for the day or a meal from our multi-page menu. About the only complaint I ever hear is, “I wish I had come here sooner.”

I cannot say enough great words about this facility! My mom was in The Cottages Memory Care .The staff is remarkable …loving, caring, gentle and kind all the while working their tails off. During their shifts they do not quit making sure every resident is taken care of and comfortable. Herbert, Rachelle, Kassidy, Shelbie, Erica and Becky became our family and we will be forever grateful for their loving care for my sweet mom and their attention to our every need and request. They definitely go the extra mile! Her room was always clean, there was always someone there to hold a hand or give a hug…her face lit up for her caregivers as much as for her family when they walked in her room. Her last few days I watched her hold their hands and mouth Thank you to,each of them. Very special people whom I will,be forever grateful! They will all hold a very special place in my heart!

Brought my mom and dad here 3 months ago from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Staff was incredibly patient in the months prior as we worked to get mom and dad ready for the move. Sophia and Lulu have been my lifesavers helping me during some very emotional times as we worked to get my parents settled in. Mom and dad comment all the time about how friendly all the staff and residents are. The location is very convenient and the facility and grounds are peaceful and very well kept The food in the dining room is exceptional I can relax knowing that they are safe and happy
