2024 Top Florida Senior Living Communities

Sunshine and beaches has made Florida a popular destination for seniors looking to relocate for their retirement years. As a result, there is no shortage of senior living communities available in the sunshine state. If you’re one of the many searching for senior living and care for a loved one or yourself, you probably already realized that there are hundreds of options. All of them offer different levels of care, services, and amenities, but which one is the right one?

We have put together a handy list of Florida senior living community options. This process can be overwhelming at first. There are lots of things to consider, and having some guidance is certainly welcome. Another useful resource to consult is our senior living directory. Florida senior living communities come in all sizes, and being able to narrow the search based on your individual preferences is helpful. If you’re still feeling lost, you can contact us and a senior advisor will help get you started.

Tip for Paying for Florida Senior Living: Long-Term Care Insurance
Long-term care insurance is a great option to help pay for associated senior living costs. The policies are offered through private insurance companies, and the best time to purchase is between the ages of 40 and 50. Pre-existing conditions often disqualify folks, so a senior with multiple sclerosis, for example, would likely be denied. Purchasing in the mid-40s when someone is in reasonably good health will pay off by the time long-term care is needed.

Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in State

We took the time to scrutinize Google and Facebook reviews, our own user ratings, and then ranked the leading Florida senior living communities. Finally, we researched complaints and violations on Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration AHCA. We used the results to determine who made our list of top communities.

Florida assisted living costs are on par with other states of a similar size. The median cost is $2,500 per month, but there are always additional charges so it is good to inquire ahead of time to determine services and care needed. Living type can also influence monthly costs, cheaper options like independent living don’t offer care while nursing homes and memory care units can run thousands of dollars more per month.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Regency Oaks Clearwater:

My wife and I have lived in Regency Oaks Independent Living for one year now. We are completely satisfied with our decision to move here. Or should I say happy! After a 2 year search in 3 states, we couldn’t be more happy with our choice. Staff is always happy to help, if needed and very friendly. Food is great. Grounds are beautiful. And plenty of activities, gardening, wood shop, bridge, yoga, tai chi and aquatics, just to name a few. Our kids like it too. I should add that we moved from Texas to Clearwater. A 2020 Update! We have now lived here for two years. On the 2 year anniversary we got out the fine wine glasses and toasted the wise decision we made in moving to Regency Oaks. Regency Oaks staff has been working hard to keep the residents safe from COVID-19 and have been very successful. Life Care Services has been a good management team for Regency Oaks. A 2021 Update! We have now lived here 3 years. Again, we got out the fine wine glasses and toasted our decision to move to Regency Oaks. During the past 12 months since our last post, staffs response has been extraordinary. No infections! Life Care services and our CEO got us the vaccine in March. 97% of the residents are vaccinated. Now we are back to normal activities. We cannot say enough about how good it is here.

What residents and loved ones have to say about The Madyson at Palm Beach Gardens:

After a depressing two month stint in a nearby facility, our octogenarian mother moved into Madyson and it is fantastic for her! There is so much to do–lots of inspiring and stimulating activities from exercise and pool classes to live music to educational and inspiring lecturers, outings and even engaging the residents in making their own presentations to their community. It is a beautiful building in a central and convenient location, feels like a sparkling clean, tasteful resort. The food is good. Everyone there seems quite happy, both the residents and the wonderful staff. One of the great things about Madyson is they have extra support for the first 30 days…there was always someone knocking on her door to see how she was doing and get her to come join a class or let her know when meals were. She initially moved into a very small (500 sf) one bedroom apartment, which we thought would be way too small but ended up being very comfortable and she quickly got upgraded to a bigger one when space allowed. We originally thought she would be happier in a smaller community, but it turns out she is liking the variety of people to make friends with, and it is big enough to have lots going on all the time. Recently they had Casino Night, with professional dealers and great live music. It’s really a fun, uplifting, beautiful place with great people.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Brookdale West Palm Beach:

I have known many residents who have lived at this community for several years and are very happy. The food is as good as any restaurant (if not better), and there is always something going on for the people who live there. The staff have been there for DECADES in many cases, and really seem to love what they do and genuinely care about the seniors who live there. If I had a loved one in need of independent or assisted living, Id send them there without hesitation.

What residents and loved ones have to say about The Pineapple House at Sapphire Lakes:

Moving my mom to the Pineapple House was the best decision weve made. It is a positive environment where my mom has made significant improvements since her move. The staff has made it easy to know everyones name. Darlene and Nanci helped every step of the way to make the transition and move-in process seamless. Nurses Yvonne, Jen and Mavis are professional, empathetic, provide personalized care and give me regular updates on my moms progress. The entire staff of CNAs such as Evie, Maria, Glenda and Elizabeth are at all times respectful, compassionate and kind. It is comforting to know my mom is safe and well cared for. Jackie and Sandi are so creative and encourage participation in the many group activities. The entire staff goes above and beyond. Thank you all for what you do! I would highly recommend the Pineapple House for your loved ones.
