Since I know, this review will never post to the overall ratings in order to keep this facility and its reputation spotless I will just state my case honestly and hope somebody will care enough to listen to what I have to say. Years ago, my grandmother was a temporary resident at The Mayflower (Allerton Cove specifically) to recover from hip surgery at the age of 80. The care and facilities were unbeatable, and I used to brag about the level of assistance and compassion on all levels. I noticed the latest or last five-star review was posted August 2024. Why? I think I have the answer. My mother is there currently, and she raves about the staff while also complaining about the lack of transparency. The communication between The Mayflower and visiting doctors, surgeons, and nurses from outside is reprehensible. She is often in tears and can't seem to get any straightforward answers as to her care. She's being told many different facts and figures in regard to her cost of her stay and Tricare coverage. She is being frightened and fears she will never be released because she is just a money machine. I am thoroughly disappointed that such a distinguished operation has descended into a failing healthcare system here in Central Florida. My entire family and I are native born, and Flo grown. Besides everything else I have stated there's more to be told. The security detail at Allerton Cove have been harassing me and even stalked me to my vehicle one night because they are evidently in my opinion either prejudice or on a complete POWER TRIP! I am not familiar with after-hours visiting procedures and parking is not easily accessible. I have been berated and belittled on more than one occasion, and I am fed up with their behavior. The lack of straightforward signage for such procedures is unacceptable. I don't understand why there is literally a red "call" button (which apparently is only for emergencies and hence no signage to state such) six inches away from a smart box setup that is confusing to anyone who is unfamiliar with how to get security to let you in. I was treated like a child being scolded by a parent. But wait, it gets better. A newly hired guard was on duty for a few short days and went on his power trip as stated before. I was dropping off my handicapped wife under the porch driveway because the disabled parking spots were all taken. The guard snapped at me and my wife who was literally grabbing her walker on wheels from the back seat in a sarcastic tone that we could not park there because they were expecting Emergency vehicles for patient pick-up. The vehicles had not even arrived yet and if I had even seen any sign of them approaching, I would have gladly complied. As a military veteran I respect the importance of clearing the way for First Responders. No sympathy or helping hand for my disabled wife who has mobility issues herself, just ATTITUDE. Again, I am not up to date on every procedure the Mayflower has, and I own that. However, a little respect and courtesy is apparently too much to ask for. I asked the front entrance employee behind the desk for the guard's name, and he aggressively snuck up behind me then when I turned around, he was in my face and shoving his badge at me. No regard for personal space. I proceeded to show him my military "dog" tags and told him I served my country so that he could enjoy the freedom I provided. His response was disgusting considering it is Memorial Day weekend. He said "you didn't serve for me or anything on my behalf" as if he were exempt or special. It didn't stop there. When I was done visiting my mother between five and eight PM on Friday, May 23rd and exiting the building to retrieve my car all the way around the back and a great distance away from his "post" if you will, he stalked me and followed me to my vehicle. At NO TIME was I a threat to him or his job performance so there was no need for this behavior. As I was inserting my key to get into my car he stood behind my vehicle and took pictures on his PERSONAL cell phone of my car tag. I said to him I was legally parked in the handicap space and had an official Florida Disabled parking permit and he said with a sarcastic tone "have a nice day". Unfortunately, I never actually looked at his badge to get his name, but a yellow piece of paper with a "warning" was left on my windshield. I can't say for sure it was the same person, but the initials were "RI". I don't want that guard anywhere near me or my wife again as his voice and actions were a threat to me not the other way around. I don't know if the security detail at Allerton Cove and The Mayflower itself are subcontracted or outsourced, or if they are hired through the Mayflower permanent employee register, but either way their actions and behavior go well beyond the best interest of The Mayflower and Allerton Cove. My mother will be staying there a while longer and this kind of treatment will be well documented, and I have already spread the word. I sincerely hope anybody associated is listening because there are many elderly residents occupying rooms there and since I have spent so much time there, I have conversed with other people who have family and loved ones staying there and are displeased with communication and lack of authority also. As stated earlier, I can see why the glowing reviews have faded off a bit and there aren't as many satisfied customers as in the past. I sincerely hope these issues are addressed immediately and the proper course of action is taken to correct this behavior and restore my faith and the good reputation that I know The Mayflower has worked so hard to sustain.

As part of the Transition Seminar, hosted by Beth B. Logullo, a group from the seminar class was afforded the opportunity to visit The Mayflower @ Winter Park. After a brief introduction given by Ms. Taylor Womack & Ms. Gladys Powers, & explain- ing the various types/sizes of the rooms & floor plans, we were told how the system of treating residents, the amenities of the facility & the types of medical staff working @ the Mayflower. We were then given a tour of the various recreational rooms available to residents, along with game rooms, exercise room with the latest Physical Rehabilitation equivalent. The heated pool, with easy access & egress to pool, & the use of same for physical therapy. We then saw a typical 2 bedroom suite, which, if occupied by a resident of Independent Living, would have a full kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, stove & microwave oven. The bedrooms were both the same size, each had master bathrooms, with showers equipped with grab bars & foldable seat. All in all, the apartment was spacious & furnished tastefully. The facility was well maintained, many choices of dining experiences, the staff we came in contact with, seemed to be happy & helpful. And the entire layout of the grounds was well thought out. Wonderful place to down size to, without giving in to the aging process, with similar circumstances to move into & alleviate the worries & woes of aging.

Awful depressing place. Do not move your loved one here. The building is a fire hazard and death trap. Their garage flooded and their so called generators failed during Hurricane Ian. Many residents are not living in hotels while these ding dongs figure it out and fix this building that they have neglected. Do not believe these reviews. The residents don't want to complain as they fear getting kicked out like my mother did for memory issues.

I contacted the Mayflower to request they remove my husband from their mailing list as I was still getting correspondence for my husband who passed away 3 years earlier. I spoke to a very understanding representative, genuinely sorry for the loss of my husband and immediately removed him sincerely apologizing for my loss. I was completely floored a few days later when I received a beautiful card with her condolences on my loss. This was totally unexpected and just made me cry with gratitude. The Mayflower has kind, compassionate people working for them, if I were looking for a place for myself or my loved one, this is exactly where I would go. Thank you for your generosity, you went over and above.
