2026 Top Florida Senior Living Communities

Sunshine and beaches have made Florida a popular destination for seniors looking to relocate for their retirement years. As a result, there is no shortage of senior living communities available in the sunshine state. If you’re one of the many searching for senior living and care for a loved one or yourself, you have probably already realized that there are hundreds of options. All of them offer different levels of care, services, and amenities, but which one is the right one?

We have put together a handy list of Florida senior living community options. This process can be overwhelming at first. There are lots of things to consider, and having some guidance is certainly welcome. Another useful resource to consult is our senior living directory. Florida senior living communities come in all sizes, and being able to narrow the search based on your individual preferences is helpful. If you’re still feeling lost, you can contact us and a senior advisor will help get you started.

Tip for Paying for Florida Senior Living: Long-Term Care Insurance
Long-term care insurance is a great option to help pay for associated senior living costs. The policies are offered through private insurance companies, and the best time to purchase is between the ages of 40 and 50. Pre-existing conditions often disqualify folks, so a senior with multiple sclerosis, for example, would likely be denied. Purchasing in the mid-40s when someone is in reasonably good health will pay off by the time long-term care is needed.

Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in Florida

We took the time to scrutinize Google and Facebook reviews, our own user ratings, and then ranked the leading Florida senior living communities. Finally, we researched complaints and violations on Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration AHCA. We used the results to determine who made our list of top communities.

Florida assisted living costs are on par with other states of a similar size. The median cost is $2,500 per month, but there are always additional charges so it is good to inquire ahead of time to determine services and care needed. Living type can also influence monthly costs. Cheaper options like independent living don’t offer care while nursing homes and memory care units can run thousands of dollars more per month.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Cypress Village:

After a short hospital stay, my mother needed a rehab center. Cypress Village was chosen by the family for its reputation and location. What we didn’t realize was how nice the rehab facility was, how good the food was, and most importantly how focused and caring the staff made us feel. Mom was well taken care of and during her therapy we had access to the quiet and comfortable sitting areas and outdoor courtyard located in the rehab facility. Special shout out to Paula and Nicole who were terrific caregivers, Harlan and Claudia for patiently guiding mom through physical therapy and Nancy D for checking on us and making sure that everybody was taken care of while we were at CV. Thank you all!

What residents and loved ones have to say about The Fountains at Mill Cove:

My grandmother was moved here after several issues with her previous facility and emergency trips. I tried helping manage her care all the way from Michigan and it wasn’t until she was moved to The Fountains that we could finally breathe until I could move back home to care for her. The staff is hands down the absolute best. Warm smiles at every reception desk and plenty of staff-to-patient ratio. Our only complaint is that she’s made too many friends between staff and other patients to want to come home. Thank you for giving my grandma a safe, enjoyable, cared-for place to stay until I could get home to take over.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Edgewater at Boca Pointe:

Very caring staff in this beautiful facility. My aunt lived here for 15 years. She was one of the oldest and longest residents. 102 years old. She died in February and I met many of the staff as we arranged a Celebration of Life for her after the funeral so her friends could share their memories of her with the family. The wait staff and Director of Food Services were very accommodating throughout the entire process, but more important, through her entire 15 years! I have visited other communities and Edgewater is extremely lovely, well maintained and the residents enjoy living there. I met three other women 101 -102 years old, so the lifestyle at Edgewater certainly contributes to a long happy healthy life.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Forest Oaks of Spring Hill:

Placing a parent outside of their home is a hard call. But once the dementia really set in it was very clear that we needed to get my father to a place where he would be well cared for and safe. I live out of state and navigating the eldercare system is a roller coaster of info and experiences depending on who you end up talking to/connecting with.I met Jennifer (community relations) and Leigh (facility director) and immediately felt like I had people looking out for me and my father. And the staff in the memory care unit were amazing! They would send me updates and pictures on the reg or if I asked. Jennifer would go visit my father and facetime with me so that I could see and interact with him, since I live outside of Florida. I was allowed to be in the memory care unit as much as I wanted when I came to visit and I got to watch the staff take care of all the folks in memory care. They were great! Letting residents help when they could and gently redirecting them when they needed to be. When things started to go downhill for my father, everyone was very communicative in letting me know what was happening. And despite the sadness, there were sweet moments of laughter and happiness to be shared. That is something I was very grateful for.Thank you to the memory care unit at Forest Oaks and Jennifer and Leigh for taking such sweet care of my father (and me).

I recently had care for rehab following at least 3 heart attacks. I had surgery at Flagler and Dr put a pacemaker. I must say that Lilac Bayview is the most comprehensive treatment I’ve ever experienced. The entire staff work together in a magical flow of kindness and compassion. The food is home made and so delicious. They treatment of residents is “over the top”, exceptional, always smiling. I am almost blown away with the patience, gentle touch, and eager to help th e residents. Everything is very clean, quiet, and well done. Physical Therapy helped tremendously wit my body language, pain, and so much compassion. I will go ther in a flash if I need more rehabilitation. Thank you , Bayview for all that you give and all that you do for myself and and all residents. You are so kind. May many Blessings fall upon you
