Whether you’re looking for a senior living community in a large city like Phoenix, or something more postcard-worthy in Arizona’s beautiful desert towns, the state has a range of options for seniors. Arizona is a wonderful place to spend your elder years, but making this transition can be overwhelming. What are the questions you should be asking of a provider? How do you compare across different senior living communities?
We understand how difficult it can be to start a search, so we’ve done the initial work for you. Our list of the top 15 Arizona senior living communities is a perfect place to start. If for some reason you do not find a provider in your area, the senior living directory is a valued resource to guide your search. An elder living consultant is also available at your convenience, and you can contact us at any time.
VA Benefits can Help Pay for an Arizona Senior Living Community
The VA offers a host of benefits to eligible wartime veterans and their spouses. One of them is the Aid and Attendance benefit. For those seniors with low incomes who require additional financing to pay for a senior living community, the Aid and Attendance benefit helps to pay for daily living activity assistance (feeding, toileting, dressing, etc.). Local Arizona city VA offices or websites can provide additional information.
Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in Arizona
The good news is there are plenty of senior living facilities to choose from in Arizona. Some states are not as fortunate, but Arizona truly has a wealth of options. Choosing the top 15 providers was a challenge, and we first looked up user reviews on established sites like Facebook and Google. We then compared those reviews with those left on our site and assigned the communities a ranking of 1 to 5. Lastly, we consulted the Arizona Department of Health and removed all providers with outstanding citations or violations.
Arizona elder living communities start at $1,100 per month and average roughly $2,300. Prices will increase depending on the level of care. Skilled nursing facilities and memory care can be thousands of dollars more per month. The facilities with an average cost of $2,300 provide meals, basic amenities, and services.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Royal Oaks Lifecare Community:
My parents moved into Royal Oaks in 2008, my father died the next year, but my mother just died at the beginning of the year. She lived in almost all of the RO housing options – a house, duplex, apartment, Assisted Living, and, at the end, the Care Center. Throughout all the years, RO provided close friends, facilities, activities, caring staff, & responsive administration. They helped in so many ways, which was needed as none of us kids lived in AZ. We can’t say enough about it & highly recommend it. Thank you, Royal Oaks, for everything!

The team at Tempe Post Acute are second to none! It looks and smells clean, and the building has been well maintained. Walking down the halls it’s obvious that the people here truly love what they do and who they work with. Everyone is always smiling and eager to help. Their therapy and nursing teams are amazing, case management goes above and beyond, and the drs/providers are in the building practically every day and super thorough. I wouldn’t take my family anywhere else!

What residents and loved ones have to say about Desert Gardens Assisted Living & Memory Care:
Facing a terribly stressful decision to place one’s loved one in assisted living is made almost painless by the wonderful staff at Desert Gardens. I had researched and toured several places. After one such tour I sat in my car and cried. The alternatives out there range from just ok to downright depressing. Until I toured Desert Gardens. Bright, warm, welcoming, I knew right away this was the place. Chaz and Ro answered every question I had. Called, emailed, texted numerous times when something else would pop up. Then The Day arrived and my mom was very happy. I can’t thank them enough for helping my family transition to this next phase of my mom’s life with such compassion. Update: it’s now been 3 years and I’m still so thankful I found Desert Gardens. The staff is wonderful, have been through it all with COVID lockdowns etc. and have never lost a step. They are infinitely patient as dementia takes its toll and my mom has become increasingly temperamental. I could not do this without them.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Fountain View Village:
My mother has been a resident of FVV for 10 years. During that time, our family has experienced just about everything with mom and the staff at FVV has been there to support us the whole time. There are certain people we interact with more than others……and to us, they are the faces of FVV. When you arrive, it’s Janet and Joan’s warm greeting that makes you feel comfortable and invited. Joe and Brian keep the stomachs full and the smiles on the faces. Kevin keeps everything running like a fine-tuned machine……and Nicola is the glue that bonds the residents together and maintains that feel of “community”. It’s home for mom, but it’s extended family for us!

What residents and loved ones have to say about The Garnet of Casa Grande:
The Garnet of Casa Grande does a wonderful job of creating a home-like setting for seniors in need of extra support with the tasks of daily living. The staff is caring, compassionate and skilled in the needs of the senior citizen. I was completely satisfied with the way the Garnet staff demonstrated the willingness and ability to accommodate the increasing needs of my loved one until her passing. I recommend the Garnet and families should definitely consider a visit when looking for a living environment that offers a wide range of assisted living services.

My Dad has been a resident for 3 years now, he is so happy, he loves the food and the staff treat him like he’s a king, everyone loves poking their heads in to say hello and of course give him a hard time‚ which is much deserved lol. This is a beautiful place and very well kept and clean, so many activities to do and the residents seem very happy and involved. I feel extremely secure knowing that our Dad is in such good hands. My mother has been living at the Palazzo for 5 years; first in independent living, and now assisted living. Her, and our experience has been absolutely wonderful, from touring, choosing and help moving into an apt with Olga and Vicky, to the ongoing support from Alysha, and the whole staff who goes above and beyond to help my mother day in and day out. A highlight of the Palazzo is the amazing property along with the entertainment and activities they have to offer, which is a major contributor to the quality of life for all the residents.

What residents and loved ones have to say about Pegasus Landing of Mesa:
They have new management and has gotten so much better. First off, the executive director is nice and listens to everyones problems and concerns and does her best to make a change. Same goes with the business office as well. The front desk girl is super sweet and greets everyone who comes in and cares to carry a nice conversation with you and listens to residents concerns. The sales gal greets everyone and listens to everyones concerns that they have and will do her best to figure a solution out. The resident care coordinator is amazing! She listens to everyones concerns and will try to figure out a solution. She truly cares about her residents. The caregivers will greet you if they see you walk by and usually they know everyones names! They’ll greet the residents by their names if they see them walk by as well which is very nice. Overall, they all care and always figure a solution out for everyone/everything. This new management is what we needed to make the community better for residents/family/staff. If your looking for an assisted living for a family member, this is the place! I would recommend this place to all friends/family. Thank you Broadway Mesa for the great effort and work you guys put in!!!!
