Reviews Royal Oaks Lifecare Community
August 2024
Royal Oaks has almost completed its renovations in their main building, where nonresidents can drop in to their coffee shop, grill, and dining area, so I went to investigate. The coffee shop is named Thrive, the old Acorn Grill is now Wild Cactus, and there is also a lovely dining area with cruise ship sounding daily special menu items and a regular menu too. The bar renovation has not been completed yet, but these other areas are open for business and look fresh and appealing. I haven't eaten there since the renovations, but will be doing so soon. Before getting into the campus, you'll have to pass through the gates, telling the guard you intend to dine. Take time to look through the changing art exhibits in the hall gallery too--many are available for purchase at prices far below their worth.

My parents moved into Royal Oaks in 2008, my father died the next year, but my mother just died at the beginning of the year. She lived in almost all of the RO housing options - a house, duplex, apartment, Assisted Living, and, at the end, the Care Center. Throughout all the years, RO provided close friends, facilities, activities, caring staff, & responsive administration. They helped in so many ways, which was needed as none of us kids lived in AZ. We can't say enough about it & highly recommend it. Thank you, Royal Oaks, for everything!

I have been employed at RO for 6.5 years and its one of the best places i have ever worked! Kendra, Gretchen, and Janet are super nice people! Santos, my boss in the housekeeping department is absolutely the greatest! With "SPRINKLES" of happiness ... beautiful smiles ... and lots of love to go around, ROYAL OAKS is the place to be!!!
March 2020
Its been a great first year for me. Love it.
July 2019
Its a great place to work and learn. I loved the residents! it was such a great experience to interact and learn from people of all walks of life. The benefits are impeccable and they really do work with your schedule here. I spent almost four years working here and Ive learned so much. Ive had some ups and downs here but for the most part its near a perfect place to plan a career or long term employment.
December 2018
living here 2years now and it just gets better all the time! Ladies..no need to cook!! The food is fantastic! so many activities we cannot fit them all in. Educational opportunities galore. You have to experience it! Best thing we did moving here!!
January 2018
I worked for Royal Oaks from July 2015-December of 2015. My experience was pretty positive and I really enjoyed working with my co-workers albeit them being a little younger than me. I was going to school at the time and this was one of the few places that would actually work with my schedule. I really appreciated them working with my schedule I was completely honest during the interview and so was Mark when he hired me on expectations. I dont believe any place is perfect but Royal Oaks provided me the opportunity to be able to finish school. I think as long as they offer that type of support for their staff to improve things should work well for them. I do not know how the new leadership operates since I have left but I can only talk about my experience while I was their.

John and I have really enjoyed living here in Royal Oaks for 7 years with one regret ! WE DIDNT MOVE IN SOONER!Looking forward to a fun and wonderful new year in 2018

Royal Oaks gives every employee the opportunity to become successful and happy! Everyone who works here knows how fortunate we are to have these jobs. As you walk in the employee entrance you are always greeted with a friendly face from security. As you pass the employee café, there are always delicious smells and often pancake breakfasts! Its almost like we are too spoiled. Everyone here works hard, but Royal Oaks rewards us and lets us play, too. Last month, they brought in 4 amazing food trucks and treated us to an extraordinary feast and great entertainment during lunch – all at no cost. We are privileged to work at such a wonderful place, one that we actually brag about! Our culture inspires caring and compassion not only to the residents of Royal Oaks, but also to each other and it shows! We have a terrific team, and I am honored to be part of it!
October 2017
My husband and I moved into Royal Oaks in December 2015. We had looked at many other CCRCs in other states, but based on our homework with respect to financials, staffing, support, location, the lifecare aspect, and positive opinions from those who knew of Royal Oaks and-or who already lived there, we found it on the top of our list. In addition, the other plus during our investigative learning process, was the excellent support (e.g., pertinent information mailed to us; answers to many questions) we received from Heather Robson and Vicky Ullery, both of the Marketing Department. We know that we in the right place. We are living independently in a garden home and come and go as we wish, the various staff are terrific, the dining venues provide great choices, we have exercise facilities and other options, all the support we need, and the best part... we have already made some great friends. You cant beat that!!
October 2017
My husband Mel, and I have lived here for almost 2 years. Its the best decision weve ever made. Royal Oaks is run very well, we love all the staff, and have made some wonderful friends. When challenges arise, we know that well have support of our friends and Royal Oaks. The best part? If we need help in the future, its all here... we dont have to figure out what to do .... its in the plan here at Royal Oaks. Were grateful to God for this huge blessing.
October 2017
As members of the priority list we have had the opportunity to dine at both the Oak Room and the Acorn Grill. The service is always impeccable and the quality of the food is outstanding. Now we are residents and are enjoying meeting other residents with fascinating histories. This is truly a five star life care community.
October 2017
For Erwin and I Royal Oaks spells Relief Freedom, we are in the process of selling our Sun City and Lake homes. This was not an easy decision to sell off all our precious junk, but now that the decision is made, its great to have that feeling of relief and freedom , especially to know that our children wont have the burden left on them.
August 2017
My mom moved here several years ago and I have been lucky enough to visit her every year since. She absolutely loves the place and cannot say enough good things about it. I too love that she is happy, and that she will be taken care of by people that are involved with every aspect of her life when the time comes.Every employee Ive met has been wonderful and is personally involved with the residents. The facilities are immaculate and the Memory house is amazing.
June 2017
Even though we are far away on vacation, we somehow cant wait to get back to Royal Oaks, our permanent vacation spot. Its like being on vacation all year long, at Royal Oaks or elsewhere. What a place.........
June 2017
We were looking for good place to live independently and also have a place that gives us a soft landing when we needed higher levels of care. Just could not find the place, no matter where we looked. That is until we walked into Royal Oaks and to our pleasant surprise blurted out We could live here.We have since moved in and are over the top that we found this beautiful, caring, place for the next part of our life. And BTW, the food is absolutely the best, and that happens every single day of the year.Since moving in, we have learned there is no better retirement community in Phoenix. Every one of our new neighbors also tell us that they are very happy they chose Royal Oaks, even those that have lived here for over ten years. Check it out and you will also be pleasantly surprised how good retirement living can be.
June 2017
The staff is amazing! Facilities are top of the line, brand new.
April 2017
Great place. I love to visit.
March 2017
My mother has lived in an independent living apt for over 3 years and has also needed full time care for about 6 weeks after a fall. She and our family could not be happier with the apartment, living conditions, staff, care, community and resort-like surroundings. We feel it was the best decision we made collectively for our mom to enjoy her later years with new friends, wonderful activities and for her health and well being. Her apartment is as nice as most I have ever lived in! We love Royal Oaks the people here.
February 2017
Working at Royal Oaks is a dream come true! The residents are remarkable people, with a rich history and love of life. The executive team is bright, energetic, supportive, and forward thinking. Royal Oaks promotes a real sense of community with both residents and staff. It is a great place work.
December 2016
This facility is fantastic. I worked there and enjoyed the professional, friendly environment. The residents here are very well looked after. Multiple people in the care center reach well over 100 years age...if that isnt evidence of excellent care, I dont know what is!
October 2016
Moved to Royal Oaks two years ago after determining that it was the best move we could possibly make in this area. The people who run this campus are the primary reason. They are INVOLVED! And they CARE about those of us who have chosen to make our final move. Knowing that there is compassionate help available 24-7 is most comforting at this advanced age ... and you can be involved in all the activities around here to the degree you want or are able. A 5+ senior living package for sure!Oh, and theres no cable! Instead we have Direct TV and their Sunday Ticket that provides us access to EVERY NFL game! Case closed ...
October 2016
We have lived in Royal Oaks for exactly one year. It is all we dreamed of and much, much more! It has so many activities to join or partake in you will never be bored. There are opportunities to challenge mind and body and you have chances in every venue to laugh, enjoy yourself and have fun! Lots of retirement communities offer great meals and trips to near and far places, but few have the sense of friendliness and belonging that Royal Oaks has. Everyone, and I mean everyone, residents and employees alike, smile and wave. We have a beautiful campus and are always proud to show it and our facilities off. The medical staff are extremely competent and caring. Our children feel we are in a good place to spend our remaining years with friends and neighbors. Wish we could give more than 5 stars!
May 2016
Excellent care at the Friendship House - Sue Spignola does it all as the chief administrator there, and the caregivers are all first rate, especially Alma. Proceed with caution, however, if you considering a stay in one of the Royal Oaks guest rooms. The luxurious accommodates sleep only 2, so you can request cots for which you are charged. We experienced their fully stocked kitchen which were were told later did not include wine glasses, a corkscrew, knives of cutting bread, etc. We did find 2 dinner plates but no pans for baking anything in the oven. And apparently luxurious does not apply to their kitchen table that we could not get level even with a wad of paper under the leg. The ONLY plus is the fact that the rooms are part of RO, so you are close to whomever you are visiting, but there are now plenty of accommodations close to RO (as one of the administrators told me) and certainly cheaper than staying in their guest rooms.
April 2016
My wife and I have lived at Royal Oaks for 7 months. The food is wonderful; and the climate control is excellent, if you live in an apartment and dont have to-want to go outdoors during the summer. There are lots of activities that support physical and mental stimulation. The facilities and grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Almost all medical attention you would need, is available right on the campus. Most all the residents and staff have a smile on their face when you meet them, while out and about. Our only regret is that we didnt move in here sooner.
April 2016
Such an awesome retirement facility! Everyone who works there seems genuinely happy and friendly with the residents. The entire facility is very clean and the outside landscaping is impeccable.
February 2016
A retirement community where passion for excellence and fun inspires the residents and staff. A place where friendships flourish and great memories are made. Our culture of kindness, continued learning, new opportunities and adventure keep us engaged and looking forward to the next day!
March 2014
Royal Oaks sure is a beautiful name and when I think of retirement I hope my roots are that of Oaks so that I may live as Royalty in His Kingdom... Amen and Thank You for the Blessed work you do. May each of you live happily ever after 🙂
