I moved into the Palms roughly 3 months ago. At first I thought I just needed to get used to my new lifestyle. However, I am not as satisfied as I was hoping I would be. The main complaint I hear every where is about the food and service. While breakfast is mostly good, dinner is another matter. Waiting in the dining room for two hours is not acceptable. They seem to believe we have nothing else to do. Sometimes I feel ignored by the wait staff. If they don’t look at you, they don’t need to serve you. The mantra among the residents is order what you want, eat what you get! Food is usually cold and if you send it back the just toss it in the microwave for a few seconds. They do have “events” which is better than the norm but that doesn’t make up for day to day incompetence. The people here, staff, are incredibly friendly and helpful so complaining seems petty.

My apartment which a one bedroom & den is larger than my three bedroom home I lived in for 22 years. The grounds all around are beautiful, I set on my balcony every morning and lessen to the birds! Such a great way to start each day. There’s a great swimming pool and lounging area and places to set and enjoy the outdoors. They have great meals and ways to select what you want to have for all your meals. I feel that I have found my final home!

Moving across country is never easy for anyone, but it’s especially difficult for a 91-year old woman who is still grieving the recent, and unexpected, passing of her first son. That woman is my mom, Connie. Mom had been living on her own in an apartment complex in Colorado for many years, which was becoming more and more difficult. Despite every effort, we (her kids) could not convince her to move somewhere where she’d have more support. She continued to refuse our help even after the recent loss of her son, my brother, which was a devastating blow. In her grief, she stopped socializing, stopped eating, and became more and more depressed as the days went by. She was spiraling and we knew we had to do something to help her get back on track - and fast. She needed to be in an environment that’s warm and sunny, where the people are cheerful, loving, supportive, and kind. And where the food is plenty - and plenty delicious. That place is The Palms in Sun City. The minute my sister and I walked into the lobby and met Melissa Long, I knew we were in the right place. Melissa is a bundle of sunshine that beams with positivity and kindness. The residents were buzzing about, cheerful, happy - and laughing with each other! They would greet each other with smiles, stop and chat, and check in with one another. It was obvious that the residents - and Melissa - genuinely care for each other. The Palms truly is a community. Melissa was a fantastic guide the whole way through the entire process. She went above and beyond all of our expectations. Without her kind guidance, we would have been lost. She was never pushy or overly salesy. Instead, she was patient, kind, understanding, and just a joy to work with. Since moving into The Palms, my mom has made several new friends - her bestie is lovely Virgie - who we all completely adore. Virgie immediately took my mom under her wing and helped my mom to not be afraid. Virgie helped her understand that she’s safe at The Palms - and that everything is going to be alright. We will be forever grateful to our dear Virgie for helping mom feel welcome. Seeing them together, two peas in a pod, makes my heart smile. My mom is smiling again, laughing again, eating again, and enjoying life again. And it’s all because of the love that emulates from the entire community of people at The Palms - the lovely gem of a place my mom now happily calls home.

When my husband brought up the idea of moving to an independent living facility, I was really dragging my feet. But moving to The Palms was the best move we could have made! One of our favorite things are the activities. There is always something going on either in the community or special outings into town. There's no reason to stay in your room! You meet many new friends here. So many things are included, my husband never has to do yard work. Having the dining room makes it so I don't have to cook. The last time I tried cooking in my apartment, I made a huge mess with the pies. With the kitchen making such delicious food, I never have to worry about it anymore! Chef Casey and Karen have the best dining room staff.

Our 84-year-old father moved into the Palms in March of 2024. He had been in a cognitive decline for some time, but was still able to maintain a fair degree of independence. Dad chose independent living at the Palms, which initially worked out well for him. However, his decline has slightly advanced, and Independent Plus Manager Gena Yates met with Dad and diplomatically described the benefits he'd have if he took advantage of what IP has to offer. I will say that Gena and staff have their hands full with Dad, but they are professionally persevering with him and managing his care well on a day-to-day basis. We are grateful to see Dad in such good hands and appreciate the open communication with Gena. She is an experienced and consummate professional, and we are thankful for Gena and her team. Our mom moved into the Palms in March 2023, which was an extremely stress free experience thanks to Becca and David. At this time, mom was in the process of scheduling a hip replacement. Unfortunately she took a fall the hip replacement became an emergency and she had some very unfortunate complications. After finally getting back home, she was in need of overnight care (my sisters and I covered the daytime and evening hours). Gena and her team were a Godsend when asked to help our family. Gena arranged for her staff to provide exactly what mom needed and they always arrived, on time, with a smile and good attitude even though mom wasn't always very welcoming (as a retired nurse she isn't the best of patients!). If it weren't for Gena and her team, mom would have had to be in a skilled nursing facility which would have been very difficult for all involved. Gena's crew provided excellent care for 14 days. My sisters and I cannot thank Gena, her team, and the staff of the Palms enough for their genuine care of our mom and for us when we were getting through a very difficult time in our family. How can you thank those caring pink ladies for being there with my Mom when I could not? My Mom received 24/7 care as needed for the final days of her life. They brushed her hair, sang to her, talked to her kindly and lovingly. As Mom’s friends stopped by her apartment each one reported back to me in Kansas of the kind acts. I was scheduled to fly back to AZ but unfortunately my Mom passed away a few hours before I arrived. My Aunt and Uncle, Mariane and William, joined The Palms Community in 2016. They were thrilled to be in such a vibrant, lovely community and have their own apartment with just enough support to keep them independent and comfortable. As the time passed, my aunt needed more support from the community and that is where Gena Yates and her team stepped in to cover everything. It didn’t matter if it was delivering an extra snack/dinner to their apartment or helping them get their computer debugged or their TV remote working again, it was never a problem. When her health started to decline the additional support from the team was second to none. When my aunt passed unexpectedly and my uncle was left alone, with all the family across the US, Ms. Yates stepped in to be sure he wasn’t left alone at this very difficult time until we could get to Arizona to help him out. We ultimately moved him back to Boston but the help we got from Ms. Yates’s team made the move and transition seamless. I cannot imagine what it would have been like for him had he not had the support and care of these wonderful people during this very sad and stressful time. If you are looking for a place for a family member, I can’t recommend The Palms highly enough for their wonderful caring staff and beautifully appointed living spaces.

After an extensive search for a Senior Living Complex for my mother, I chose The Palms in Sun City, and it has been the best decision for my entire family. My mom has made many friends, and is involved in so many activities! The entire staff is so responsive to every request, but I work most closely with Gena Yates, the Independent Plus manager. I am very hands-on in my mom's care, and Gena has helped me through such things as the death of my dad and my mom having surgery and needing extra, but temporary, services. The peace of mind provided by The Palms is priceless, and I am so grateful my mom is living with their care.

We moved our brother John in on November 1st 2023. He was very happy with all the services. Eventually we had to incorporate Independent Plus to assist with proper dispensing of his medication. The service was amazing as we no longer had to worry about him taking his medication and taking it at the right time of day. Our brother passed away on December 16th due to a medical condition. I would like thank Gena Yates and staff from IP. I would also like to thank David, Becca, Raul, Gracie and all the staff in the dining room and front desk. They all made us feel like family. They honored my brother on the veterans wall as we as the lobby during the funeral and beyond.

We moved my mother from another independent living facility to The Palms during COVID. I honestly believe she would not have survived if it wasn't for The Palms. In addition to the amenities and service provided at The Palms, the staff and additional care from Independent Plus are phenomenal. The facility is clean, open, bright and well maintained. Caring, prompt, personal attention to every need and request. When I walk in to see my mother, I am greeted like family. My mother was recently admitted to the hospital via ER services for 6 days. Upon discharge, she still needed assistance with meds and showering during her home recovery. Gina, from Independent Plus, arranged a schedule that best met Mom's needs while keeping expenses low. The IP staff was amazing; punctual, caring, and supportive. Mom recovered quicker than anticipated, and best of all, in her own home. I don't know how we could have provided the assistance she needed during her recovery without IP.

We moved to The Palms 11/22 and moved out 10/10/23. We loved our ample size apt. We enjoyed the people there. The staff were very nice, BUT, don't move there expecting good food. It is AWEFUL! And they didn't have enough servers. Tables not cleaned in a timely manner. Food always luke warm to cold, etc., etc.

it giving off high vibrations from the Airconditioners putting out a lot of noise for the residents across from and they need to be lowered, so we don't hear them 24 hours a day. I was over there this morning sound meter and they were a little on the high. No wonder I hear them 24 hours a day when I am in my Bedroom.. Makes it very hard to sleep with constanly pounding. Could they be turned down some to help us sleep better at night. Thank you

Very content here and so is my wife, I am very happy with my apartment and its location. Sherily and Adamm do very well with the Veterans Group we have monthly meetings and go out on outings like to a ranch to see horses. All the residents help each other when there are any problems we all work together.

After 18 months here I realize tHat there are many positive and negatiVes to living in a place like this. The positives out weigh the negatives. The residents at the Palms are the very best thing here. The size of apartments is a close second and Having a washer and dryer in my apartment is wonderful.

The apartments are very nice and spacious. I moved in recently and I like that The Palms has a lot of open space. They are pet friendly. The staff, waitresses, waiters, and front desk are very friendly. The front desk is very knowledgeable about what's going on at The Palms. The food is very good and many choices to pick from. Everyone is very nice and go out of their way to help me.
