I’ve toured many different senior living & assisted living facilities and what makes this place stand out head and shoulders above the others are the people who work here. The activities people really enjoy finding fun and creative activities from random dress like a cowgirl day to a wet t-shirt contest that involves shooting a water pistol with colored water at a t-shirt hung between trees. We looked at several assisted living facilities and are very happy that we chose McDowell Village for our mother. Executive staff members are responsive and caring, there are many activities for residents, there's a lovely dining room and good food, onsite physical therapy is available billed through Medicare, and onsite visiting primary and specialist care is available and billed through Medicare. Transportation is usually available and capable. Caregivers do a good job with baths and other services that you may be paying for. We're very happy with the safe, clean, and fun environment at McDowell Village for our 88 year old mother.

My wife and I are 83. We first visited McDowell village in July 2024. Although we were in relatively good health, my wife could no longer drive, so we thought we should make plans for our future years. We visited several senior living communities. While we knew we had found our future home as soon as we walked in the front door, we continued to visit other facilities. Nonetheless, we kept returning to McDowell Village since the staff and residents always greeted us with smiles and a feeling of family. As a result we chose McDowell Village as our future Independent Living/Assisted Living residence. The facility itself is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The dining room looks like it is part of a Boutique Hotel, with a varied, quality food menu. However, the real jewel of McDowell Village is the fantastic staff. Every request is met with a smile and a follow through. Our direct contact was Angel Albanez. From the first time we met him we knew we had found a home. He exemplifies what a staff member in a Senior Facility should be. Moreover, he delivered every promise he made during our repeated visits. My mother is a resident at MV. Recently, their restaurant, Four Peaks, hosted my mother's birthday dinner. We had several family members in attendance and the restaurant staff was incredible. My parents moved into McDowell Village this spring after their health presented challenges to maintain their same level of independence in their long-term home. This move was much easier than anticipated from the initial visits to the property to move-in and now the caring and compassionate staff and fellow residents. They quickly realized that this is not a home of old people - they feared it would be like a nursing home, but people like them. When my mother said, "why didn't we do this sooner?" I knew they were in the right place. It's hard to call out any specific staff member because they all treat my parents like they are their grandparents. Their patience, understanding and overall care for the residents is outstanding. Even when there is a "cranky" resident, the staff is nothing less that kind and considerate. My parents are so busy participating in activities, cards, bingo, crafts, movies, happy hour (their favorite), fitness classes, special events and they are so happy to be socializing with others like them. They are spending their time doing fun things, instead of stressing about how they were going to manage the next thing at the house. It's wonderful to see them so social especially after the last year had made it more difficult for them to get together with friends. The grounds are immaculate, staff is responsive, and the residents are kind and welcoming. I am so thankful we found "The Village" and that my parents are not only happy, but thriving!

My 92 yo mother has been at McDowell Village for 6 years and she just recently transitioned from Independent to Assisted Living. We have been extremely pleased with this community since the beginning. It is attractively decorated, cleanliness is maintained, and the staff could not be more helpful or kind. There are scads of activies available for residents should your loved one be inclined. Our transition from IL to AL went as well as it possibly could and the staff was readily available to assist with any hiccups. A special shout-out to Vercina, Kristin, Angel and Nurse Julie. My Mom has lived at McDowell Village for over seven years. She lived independently for five years and is now in assisted living. Both experiences have been incredible. While living independently she participated in most activities & exercise classes on a regular basis. There were so many options that kept her cognitive & physical abilities sharp!!! Because she is 93yo and in assisted living, she participates a little less in community options but staff visit her regularly for exercise and conversation :). The dining options at McDowell Village are extraordinary!!! Seriously equivalent if not better than local options. Dining staff try extremely hard to change things up so to keep options exciting and healthy at the same time. My favorite aspect of McDowell Village is the friendly, warm & competent staff. They successfully carried hundreds of our seniors thru covid times, continue to manage their individual needs and continue to promote QUALITY OF LIFE to every resident. My family & I are incredibly grateful to past General Manager, Micheal Brown and present General Manager, Kristin Koga-London and their fabulous support staff. The culture they have created is one of heartfelt caring & support for EVERY individual. Love this place!

In a few months, it will be three years since my mom, Linde, moved into MBK. We looked at several other retirement homes but when Gigi, our friendly Admissions advisor, took us for a tour and treated us to lunch, my mom had a gut feeling that she had found her forever home. I can't tell you how many times over the last three years that my mom has said how much she loves living at MBK and that she never wants to leave. There are so many great things about MBK that it is difficult to know where to start. Customer Service here is beyond exceptional. The employees are so friendly, helpful and compassionate and go out of their way to make the residents feel special. As an example, a few weeks ago, my mom returned from spending the holidays with my sister in Illinois. As we came through the doors, Michael, the director and Teddi, the assistant director, were just leaving for the day and they greeted my mom in unison with a resounding "Welcome Home!" and also gave her a warm hug. Everyone who works at MBK is truly special and they seem to love their jobs. Erica and Melissa organize all the fun activities, of which my mom loves the popular Cardio Drumming, and they also decorate MBK for every holiday or event. A special side note: the Senior Community Center is located conveniently right next door and it offers even more classes and fun activities such as, ballroom dances and a ton of other opportunities for Seniors to meet one another. The Rehab center is on the second floor of MBK and Araceli, Steph and Shreya have done a great job with my mom to strengthen her body and rehabilitate her hip after surgery last year. I am so grateful to all the other employees who have been so kind to my mom: Gillian, Sarah, Julie, Oscar, Giselle, Angel, Dario, Evander, Richard, Nineth, Matt, the Executive Chef and so many others. Did I forget to mention the delicious food? Matt and his extraordinary staff experiment with new recipes and keep the menu fresh and interesting. I cannot recommend McDowell Village highly enough.

My mother moved to McDowell Village about seven months ago. She is extremely happy there. The staff are all very attentive, they all know her by name. Any maintenance issues are always dressed in a very timely manner.. Every time I am there all of the residents seem very happy. They offer a wide selection of activities, including various exercise classes, as well as , bingo, cards an other fun activities. We are extremely happy that mom chose McDowell Village to call home!

We will never be able to say enough good things about McDowell Village. The care and patience they gave to my Mother was inspiring and greatly appreciated. The front desk staff, the cleaning and food teams, the medical team, the event coordinators, and the executive team are incredible people who appear to wake up every morning with one objective....to give the residents the best experience possible. This is a special place. We are big, big fans!

The McDowell Village of Scottsdale is wonderful place to live . My dear grandpa has been live here for 12 years very very happy. The food is delicious and there are always many many choices in the Dining Hall. The staff is caring and very polite and the director is always cheerful and informative. They have a swimming pool, and great exercise room, gorgeous cinema theater, transportation, and several daily activities to choose from. Each resident has a full apartment, with one or two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom and full kitchen. The residents are of a variety of ages. My Abuelito is almost 99 years old and is thriving at McDowell Village Scottsdale. I highly recommend this place !!

We looked at many facilities before we came to McDowell Village. Some were glitzier, some less expensive, but none said "home" like this place did. We have been here over 4 years and it truly is our home. The residents are like family and the staff is incredible. The activities are numerous and can keep you busy all day long. Moving here was the best decision we ever made.We hope others will decide to make this place your home too.We are waiting to say "welcome home".

I moved to McDowell Village over eight years ago, and I know I could have never made a better decision. MDV is a very caring community. The love and support I received from staff and fellow residents when my husband died was invaluable; I was not alone. Then when I remarried during the craziness of the Covid pandemic, Directors Michael and Kristen set up Zoom in our Chapel so family and friends could witness the ceremony. That was followed by a streaming of the celebration for the community on our in-house TV channel, plus a beautiful luncheon for the seven participants. Thank you, McDowell Village!

I am geriatric nurse- RN- and I chose McDowell Village for my mom in independent living. My mom came to Arizona from Florida to be with family after my dad passed. This was during the height of Covid. My husband a physician and I looked at 5 places. Not one place compared to McDowell Village. The food is wonderful- high end- lots of menu choices- delivery and pick up to eat in your room as needed. My mom LOVED everyone and everything about McDowell. She had her hair and nails done every week. My mom looked forward every day to the activities- The staff Erica, Melissa and Starr are the kindest women you will ever meet. My mom saw each them as her own. My mom loved playing Bingo, canasta and was on the Trivia Team. She participated in the cook offs and even came in 2nd place. Every staff member knew my mom and made her feel very special every day. Management made my mom feel very special. They respected her thoughts and feelings. I could come and go 24/7 and when I left I was NEVER worried about my mom. If she needed anything at all the staff made it work. My mom loved the celebrations and parties. McDowell doesn’t miss a beat. The facility is clean, open and welcoming to all. I loved that the social committee and dining staff sat my mom with as many people as possible so she met new people. She loved going on outings for meals and theater with the staff and her friends. Honestly, my only regret is she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we didn’t have more time together and with her friends at McDowell. My husband even made matzah ball soup and a Chanukah Party for her friends at McDowell. She made lots of amazing friends. Even after she passed her best friend from McDowell will be her tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Every member of the staff was at her side after she was diagnosed and made sure she was treated with kindness and professionalism until she passed and had a Celebration of Life for her which made me see even more how happy she was at McDowell. I recommend without hesitation McDowell Village. I have been the Director of Nursing for an all level facility and I ONLY refer to McDowell. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You are the best. I will forever be connected to McDowell and especially the girls of the Social/Activities Dept.

When we came to visit McDowell Village with our parents we arrived on Appetizers Day (one of their many numerous events). It was such an amazing afternoon with laughter and just good old plain fun! An entire corridor had numerous tables filled with every type of gourmet appetizers you could dream of and the contestants were the residents as well staff members whipping up their specialties. My parents were so impressed on how friendly everyone was that they eagerly signed up to live in McDowell Village the very next day. It’s going to be almost a year that they are living here and we all agree it is the best place in Arizona!
