Bridge loans are short-term loans used to pay for expenses while the sale of a property is in motion. Many seniors move into senior living communities after having lived in their own homes. Sometimes the move needs to take place urgently, prior to the sale of the home. A bridge loan can provide the cash required to move into the facility while the sale of the home is being processed. Bridge loans are short-term and their interest rates are typically higher due to the short duration.
Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in New York
In order to determine which communities are worthy of being on our top senior living list, we collected reviews from Google and Facebook, then compared them to ratings and reviews users left on our site. Online reviews are great, but they don’t tell the whole story, so we researched further. The NY State Dept. of Health has resources for facility citations and violations, disqualifying any communities from being on our list.
On average, New York assisted living costs $3,200 per month. While this is higher than most states, the average is skewed by the high cost of living in NYC. In addition to location, there are several things that contribute to the total monthly price of living and care. Independent living and senior apartments cost less, since they are 55+ living, and typically don’t offer care. The cost goes up significantly for memory care and nursing homes, which provide the highest level of skilled staff and care provided.

My husband was admitted to Elderwood Wheatfield for rehab on his shoulder and legs. The PT/OT department is very good and he is progressing nicely. The nursing staff and aides are very caring and attentive to the patients. They keep me updated on my husband’s condition. The place is very clean and bright. Everyone is very kind and friendly. My husband says it is a very nice facility and he would recommend it to anyone who needs help.

We transferred my boyfriends grandpa from Bristal in NJ to Bristal in Sayville and what a difference. This Bristal has amazing and caring staff. It is very clean and kept well. My boyfriends grandfather is happy and we are very close. We come in and out and the staff knows who we are and what resident is our family member. The whole staff goes above and beyond for the residents so it’s worth the price. The process of getting him into Bristal was fabulous and Denise was so helpful! If you are looking for a place that will give your love ones freedom and care for your love ones choose this one.
