Senior Living can be expensive, not everyone has the savings or the income to pay for the room, care, and other services that can add up every month. There are options though. VA Benefits, Long-term care insurance, home equity, reverse mortgages, life settlement funding, and Medicaid may all be options to help offset or cover the cost of senior living and care.
Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in Tennessee
So how did we figure out what were the best Tennessee senior living communities? We combined reviews from several websites, including Google, Facebook and other sources for senior living in Tennessee. Reviews themselves aren’t enough, so we made sure there are no outstanding compliance violations or complaints with the TN Dept. of Health.
The last thing we did was make sure the living facilities listed were affordable for most people. What good is a senior living community if you can’t afford to live there? The average cost for assisted living in Tennessee is $3,920 per month. In most communities this includes housing, many meals, and basic amenities and services. Independent living is typically cheaper but doesn’t offer care, while memory care and skilled nursing can be thousands more a month.

Mom moved to McKendree when it became unsafe to live alone. Margaret helped make her admission a welcoming transition. Tasha and Tonya have always followed up on any of her changing needs. These ladies make sure everything runs smoothly. They’re engaged with the families and truly love the residents. The entire staff, from maintenance, house keeping, dietary, techs, nurses, therapy, recreation team and everyone is like family. They go above and beyond because they love them. It gives me peace of mind, knowing she’s treated with care and respect.

My Mom has lived at The Hearth, now Vitality Living the past 3 years. The facility has recently been remodeled and is beautiful… Mom loves showing it off to her visitors, especially the sun room and the dining room. The other residents and staff have become like family to us. Shout out to Mom’s favorite staff: Administrators (Sherry and Pat), the Nurses (Randall and Brittany), the RA’s (Megan, Jamie, & Melissa), all the Dietary staff, the Activities staff (Rick and Kelly), the Van driver (James) the front receptionist (Cristy & Dori), housekeeping (Samantha), the Salon (Penny), the PT staff, and the maintenance staff, and many more They are all so friendly, helpful, responsive to issues, and show my Mom how much they care. This is why we call Vitality Living Mom’s home. I highly recommend this facility.

I cannot say enough good things about NHC Cool Springs. My 82 year old dad went there for rehab after spinal fusion on his neck. Everyone was wonderful from the social workers, therapy, nurses, techs and dietary (awesome food!). He was treated with respect every day and had everything he needed to return safely home. If he ever needed these services again, we would not hesitate to use NHC!!

Mom moved to Windsor Gardens a year after dad died and remained there the last five years of her life. During her stay she received excellent care appropriate to her continuing physical decline. The care she received was personal and compassionate. A variety of opportunities were provided for her personal and spiritual growth, as well as for her entertainment. We are thankful that mom had Windsor Gardens in which to spend the final years of her life.
