Nurses, doctors, CNA's, laundry, food prep...all very attentive, friendly, cating and attentive to my dad and other residents. I wish there was a direct line to call to see how a patient/resident is doing, what kind of night they had ...etc., without having to physically be there to find out.

Our Mom is here ow & has been for 5 days. I honestly don’t know how anyone could leave a bad review. She has Dementia & a fracture in her spine. She’s a fall risk . And can be a bit moody some days. They check in on her every 45 min., PT is great, the meals are brought to her but if she was more Mobil there’s a nice cafeteria. She currently lives in assisted living in Whitehouse memory care. But we love it here so much we are thinking of moving her here.

My 91 yo MIL moved into the Memory Care side of NHC Sumner on December 23, 2025. Since relocating to NHC, my MIL's physical and emotional health have improved dramatically. Caring for her became too much for my 70 yo husband, and I'm not exaggerating in saying that the move into NHC saved my husband's life, as he was breaking down with the burden of care. Since moving there, my MIL eats so much better, in part I think because she has a community of people to sit with during meals. Her hygiene is good because the care professionals attend to a schedule that my MIL has grown used to. NHC washes and folds her clothes each week, and my MIL visits the salon for manicures and haircuts right there at NHC, where a primary care physician monitors all her meds. Whenever there's a change in medication, NHC calls us. When there were a few positive flu cases in house, NHC also called. They are very good about calling when anything is going on at all, and we appreciate that transparency. Every time my husband visits, someone on staff also speaks with him just to check in, offering updates or new information about her condition. I understand these are early days at five months in, but so far, I am extremely pleased with the care my MIL is receiving. Also, her skin is so much clearer. Before she moved in, her skin was sort of inflamed looking at times, and now her skin is so clear. No redness. Everything at NHC went smoothly before, during, and after move-in. Catie on the office side of things helped us each step of the way, fielding phone calls, emails, and questions from us with total patience and kindness. The move in process was easy. We had access to th room a few days ahead of move-in and the NHC staff were kind enough to install her TV on the wall and hook it up while we assembled her new bed and set up some other furniture. I can't lie, the early days were rough, because my MIL really did not want to be there, but over time, her resistance faded, and then disappeared altogether. The other day, my husband participated in an art class with my MIL and she was smiling and they had a good time. She ate an entire peach cobbler, which six months ago, she never would have done. I had bought the narrative that care facilities are not good and all that, and no doubt many are awful, but for us at least, NHC is really working out. I am not disregarding some of the negative experiences offered in reviews here. All I can share is what I've seen and experienced in the short time my MIL has been there. Oh, and another benefit for us has been that my MIL's brother also lives at NHC Sumner, but on the non-memory side. There's a little bit of mishegas involved in bringing them together for a visit because of the Memory unit's security features, I believe, but it's not too bad. Long story short, our experience at NHC so far has been extremely positive/
May 2026
My husband was there and, for the most part, the nursing staff was wonderful. One was not. Insisted my husband have a shower and he was too weak. She pulled him out of bed, got him in the bathroom and he became unresponsive and she had no idea what to do. I had to tell her to get help. He wound up back in the hospital. It is written in their policy that if a patient says no to something, they are not to force it. She did. I reported it and the supervisor said maybe more training was needed! This was the only bad experience that I am aware of, but one is enough when a patient has some serious health issues.

The extra star is because it’s a nice place on the inside and some people are good. However, keep your family out of this place for rehab. Some workers were hard to find when you needed something because they were out in their car and nobody knew (we later confirmed this was common with someone who previously worked there, especially at night). One nurse was a control freak who had something against us being there every day and knew how to act different with management when called out. We eventually had round-the-clock helpers and even hired a firm to help us with elder planning while in this facility. When we finally took a vacation and left another family member there, they decided the timing was perfect (coincidence??) and had her sent to a psychiatric facility for behavior where they gave her a chemical restraint that was unneeded (we were there daily for hours before this so we knew of her behavior). She is finally getting back to herself 3 months later behaviorally but is physically weaker because of the psychiatric facility stay where she wasn’t moved. If you’re afraid of using a facility where you don’t feel comfortable leaving your loved one alone, this is that place.

Zero Stars. They let my sister who was in there for pt. Ignored the fact that she was hallucinating, did not keep her clean leading to UTI. Could not get out of bed. Was barely conscious. We begged them to send her to hospital but they would not. Finally, when she was showing signs of impending death, they called 911 and sent her to hospital. In the ER they were expecting her to go any minute. She survived another 4 wks in hospice. In my opinion, do not trust these people with your loved one.She was there for physical therapy and could never get out of bed. Starved because she didn't feel like eating. No additional nutrition from them.

My mother has been there nearly a month and had no progress. The lack of communication amongst the staff is mind blowing. They do not follow through on things they say they will do. Waiting 45 min for a light to be answered and then food that hard and can’t even cut with a fork. If we would have known all this definitely would have chose somewhere else. And now looking for new place

My grandpas stays here, and his favorite person is Madelyn Crook. He says she is the best. She was well-mannered and so polite. Whenever I stop by to see him, I also always enjoy talking to Maddie. She is hilarious. Her smile brightens my day.

My mother was brought here for rehabilitation after a bought with pneumonia. The level of communication is top notch.
May 2025
My mom is 87 and was very weak from too many hospital stays for pneumonia and infections, so we needed a place for her to regain her strength to come home. When I walked in the front door I knew it was the right place for her to get well and come home. It doesn’t smell of the disinfectants like other places that we’re trying to hide the dirty, this place is clean and lived the fact that each room has its own circulation for air. The rehab was truly an elevated experience. She had OT/PT and ST. They all checked in and were knowledgeable and had patience. Food was exceptional! I didn’t feel like I needed to bring it from home. Always had Dr on call to answer questions. I didn’t feel visit daily and saw how they treated the people that didn’t have visitors. Yes, I give it five stars - I did visit other places nearby and this was a world apart.

My dad spent 3 weeks at skyline, had 5 heavy doses of radiation while there for his metastatic lung cancer that had also traveld to his brain. He was then sent to NHC in Gallatin. I'm giving 5 stars for Ellen and the nurses on the 1000 hall at NHC where my dad was for 3 weeks. These nurses go above and beyond to make sure their patients are comfortable, clean and clothed. They are very attentive and upbeat and made my feel peace of mind while my dad was in their care. They definitely need a raise. My dad has now been on the 4000 hall for 3 days and I walked in his room to find him in only a diaper and almost on the floor. I got him back up sitting right in his bed all while employees walked past looking in while walking by and none stopped to help. I the went looking for a nurse to find the nurses station empty and no one around. After I finally got a nurse they seemed agitated that I was there and found him Almost in the floor. I asked why he didn't have clothes on and they didn't answer me and immediately started dressing him. On all the other halls there were nurses everywhere except the 4000 hall was just empty. I'm now wishing he wasn't moved from the 1000 hall because when he was there I knew he was in good hands. I feel bad for the patients on the 4000 hall honestly my dad included. I was asked if I wanted my dad to recieve the flu shot and I agreed, he wasn't able to make decisions on his own at this point and really went downhill super quick after leaving the 1000 hall. On top of the flu shot he was also given the pneumonia vaccine as well as 1st covid vaccine all within a couple days time and I was never asked if I wanted him to have these other 2 vaccines. He then acquired pneumonia and passed away a week later. With this place having such high stars just be careful and make sure u look into everything and keep an eye on ur loved one closely, visit them often and unexpectedly too because you'll end up seeing the true colors of these places in due time

I just wanna to leave my honest review my mother just left this center last week Feb 8, 2024, so here we go the nursing/CNA staff was amazing they really took care of my mother like she was a part of the family. My mother and I had some of the best food in the dining room they had so many choices & Food Service team was super nice & help with my mother dietary needs. I just want to say these people did a great job & Thank you so much!

Just moved my parents into NHC Place Sumner two weeks ago and have been very pleased with the care they are providing. The in-house restaurant is great - my parents love the food. All personnel are friendly and professional as well as being competent. The staff is managing my parents’ meds, which was a large need for them. In two weeks, both parents are on a PT program for improved muscle strength. I could not be happier.
April 2023
I cannot say enough nice things about this place. The nurses are kind and understanding, the food is really good and the chef is sweet as can be. Hunter Farr does the cooking and he does a great job of it. I can’t even begin to tell you what these biscuits he makes are like. Everything is just really nice and tasty and the place itself is beautiful! I can’t possibly name all of the people that have helped us here, from Samantha in admitting to Keith in PT, and the nurses that come and check my husband each night at four in the morning with a smile on their faces. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.
September 2022
My mom has been in assisted living here for several months. From our first tour to every visit and phone call I’m so impressed with the professionalism and kindness of the nurses, physical therapists and director. Her apartment looks out to a beautiful garden that residents tend to with flowers and birdfeeders. The food menu has lots of options and the other residents are friendly. Very happy with the quality of the facility and the caring quality of the staff here.

The environment my mom and our family have experienced in the Memory Care Assisted Living has been an answer to our prayers. She has been loved by the staff in a way that gives us peace of mind. We know that even as Mom lives with dementia she can smile and stay healthy and safe. We can't say thank you enough.

The staff has been very wonderful and caring as my sister is in the long term care receiving hospice care. Everyone from the custodial staff to the dietary staff to the nursing staff seem to really care about their patients.
November 2019
Just WOW. At check in, staff engaged us with their respective areas of expertise and made sure details were cared for. During the stay, there were numerous staff people to ensure things were taken care of - not just a single nurse with too much like in other rehabilitation places. The NHC staff were all friendly, smiled and used caring words for the patient and really show consideration for a persons abilities and limits. It felt like being home rather than a medical care place. the overall atmosphere is pleasant as well as the appearance. We did not find a single thing to complain about.

Extremely clean, beautiful and pleasant facility. Food is really good. Staff is attentive and competent. We are very pleased with the care they’re proving for my father.
July 2018
What a wonderful place to go if you can't go home. I had to have a few weeks of rehab there. It was like a resort. The care is top notch. Speaking first hand, the nurses, techs and therapist are the best anywhere. The food was great and if you wanted something different they were happy to provide it. Rooms were kept spotless along with the building. There was no down time, if I was not in therapy, I was busy with the activities they provided for us. In the beginning I was too tired and rested, but as my energy level increased I was able to do more and more. If I ever need skilled care or rehab NHC Place Sumner is the ONLY place I will consider.
July 2018
We are thankful for the excellent care provided. My mother-in-law was there for three weeks and the service could not have been better. She had a major surgery and required skilled care with rehab. The state of the art rehab department along with the caring staff was just what we needed. We can not say enough about the EXCELLENT care they provided in our time of need.
