Massachusetts has an impressive selection of senior living providers. Making the transition to one of these senior living providers is an important decision, and embarking on an initial search will result in what may seem to be an endless array of options. What is the best fit for me or a loved one? What services should I be looking for in an assisted living community?
Not all elderly facilities are alike. Some offer extremely specialized services, while others are more general in their approach. Massachusetts has a wide choice of centers, and while our list of the top 10 is a great starting point, our senior living directory provides additional search parameters to help you in this process. We have professional advisors available at your convenience. Please contact us with any questions.
Key Questions to Ask When Searching for a Massachusetts Senior Community
Selecting the right senior facility comes down to more than the text on a website. Once you’ve scheduled a tour, be sure to take the time to ask a handful of staff members how long they’ve been with the center. If most of the staff haven’t been there for more than a couple months, that could be an indication that turnover is high. Good employees typically stay with their companies and high turnover could be a sign of bad management, a poor working environment, and almost always results in lower quality of care.
Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in Massachusetts
The 10 elderly provider choices below are the top-rated facilities based on a 1-5 star grading system. We looked through Google, Facebook, and similar platform reviews and added those to reviews that were left on this website by our users. From there, we assigned a number to each center and then consulted the Massachusetts Department of Health to double-check that none of our resulting communities had any outstanding violations.
Cost of senior living is a factor that can’t be ignored. What good are any of these options if you can’t afford it? While Massachusetts prices do fluctuate based on location and services, the median price for a assisted living in the state is $4,400. For skilled nursing or memory care, that figure can quickly double. Active adult communities cost much less, but staffing is limited and care is rarely provided.

I want to leave my message of appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Russel Papia and Lisa Papoula to my mother and family. My mummy was delighted with everything, the warmth way she was received it by the staff members, the environment, the food, the lovely and respectful way my grandma is treated there, every aspect was FIVE STARS, and she is very happy to have my grandma there. My mother described the experience as being in a ‘piece of heaven’ – it was memorable. Thank you once more for all your help and support, you have done a significant and positive impact in my family, it was very much appreciated. Wish you all the best and God bless you. Thank you

What residents and loved ones have to say about Giving Tree Senior Living:
I cannot believe the difference I have seen in my loved one in just ONE week!! They have totally transformed him for the better. He looks so much better, is participating in activities as opposed to being in his room all day long, is eating healthy meals, smiling all the time and talking to people. All the employees, nurses, etc. treat him with respect. I myself cannot believe that such a transformation has taken place as he is in the Memory Care unit. I seems as though the staff does miracles!! I highly recommend The Giving Tree Senior Living in Dracut, MA. You won’t be sorry admitting a loved one here. You will no longer have to worry about what kind of care or attention they are getting.

Our dear 95 year old Aunt was recently at NewBridge on the Charles for Rehab. She was there almost two weeks, and was very happy with the entire Staff. She has been in at least 4 others in the past 3 years, and my husband and I have never experienced such an excellent response from EVERYONE and the superb care she received. We were contacted regularly on her condition, and what could be done moving forward. We thank you all so much for your hard work, dedication and support of our dear, loving Aunt! You went above and beyond any others that we have ever worked with! NewBridge on the Charles is the place to be for whatever your needs are!

What residents and loved ones have to say about Glenmeadow Retirement Community:
This is not just a retirement community this is a place where loved ones can feel safe, have things to do that stimulate their minds, discover new friends late in life, etc etc. I could go on and on. My parents are here and love it. And the staff is beyond amazing. Everyone says hi – the residents say hi – the staff says hi – the waiters say hi — its just that kind of place. Debbie who runs the arts program is just incredible – I just wanted to call that out as my mom is a huge art fan and this place loves the arts and I think she would be lost without an arts program thats this passionate and inventive!

Stonebridge has been a great experience for both my parents and our family. Transitioning to assisted living from independent living is always a difficult transition, but the residents, staff and Stonebridge team have been warm, gracious and have made my parents feel very at home. The aids in particular have been patient and helpful and clearly care about the residents. I would encourage anyone looking at assisted living facilities to look at Stonebridge for their family.
