Ranking The Best Senior Living Facilities in Alberta
To determine the communities worthy of being on our top senior living community list, we collected reviews from Facebook and Google, and then compared them to reviews users left on our site. Ranking anything is not easy, and with elderly housing facilities there is an additional area that must be factored in. Our team consulted the Alberta Ministry of Health and removed those facilities that had outstanding citations and violations from the list.
Transitioning into a senior living community that falls within an individual’s monthly budget is critical. Affordability is always an issue, and in Alberta, elder communities range from $2,100 to over $4,000. On average, an Alberta senior provider costs $2,800 monthly. In addition to location, there are several things that contribute to the monthly cost. Mom became a participating and loved resident at Mactaggart. Enjoyed the companionship with the other residents and staff, participated in many of the activities on and off the site. The staff were amazing through the COVID crisis keeping everyone safe and engaged, while communicating to the many families. The food was varied and pleasantly served by the great staff. Outings were thoughtfully designed around those with mobility issues as well. Well worth a visit to check it out.

We have a friend that lives there and all of the people we met there made us want to get Teena’s dad to move in there. Charles stopped by our house to talk to us and took us all on a great tour of the manor. As it turned out Teena’s dad wanted to move to High River where he is from. My mother has lived at Trinity Lodge for almost 9 years. She has only good things to say about the staff, the food, the building and the atmosphere. I have appreciated everything about Trinity, but especially the quality of staff, from the beginning. As I write this today, with covid-19 a huge concern in Canada, my appreciation for the staff has deepened. The management have created an environment that has resulted in very high retention of caring skilled staff. I am even more thankful that I know the staff who are with my Mom each day now that I cannot be there.

My mother lived at the Luxstone rather comfortably for over three years. Staff cheerfully greeted us upon every arrival. I found that every level of staff was invested in learning my mothers name and tending to her needs as an individual. She really liked that she could have her hair done on site by such a friendly and skilled stylist. My mother often said how much she liked her room and the staff. When her needs became to great for assisted living, the staff went out of their way to care for her while she waited for a supportive living location. Our research showed us that the Luxstone was a more affordable choice than anything Calgary could provide and it was only a 30 minute drive.
