To determine the communities worthy of being on our top senior living community list, we collected reviews from Facebook and Google, and then compared them to reviews users left on our site. Ranking anything is not easy, and with elderly housing facilities there is an additional area that must be factored in. Our team consulted the Alberta Ministry of Health and removed those facilities that had outstanding citations and violations from the list.
Transitioning into a senior living community that falls within an individual’s monthly budget is critical. Affordability is always an issue, and in Alberta, elder communities range monthly from $2,100 to over $4,000. On average, an Alberta senior provider costs $2,800 monthly. I recently moved my parents into Auburn Heights. After two weeks, I am amazed at how easy Auburn Heights made the transition. They are fantastic at looking after my parents (reminders to take meds, escorts down to dinner if necessary (my dad’s memory is not great) and constantly checking in on them. My parents are raving about the food – that was a pleasant surprise. The staff has really gone out of their way to make sure my parents have everything they need, that they feel safe and welcome.

To be honest this facility rates much higher than a Five Star. The compassion, and caring begins the minute you walk in the front door. But what makes this Residence unlike any I have been in, so different, is the staff. They all embrace an atmosphere of family. They literally enjoy their work, and it is apparent with the way they interact with all the residents. The Blossom Program has taken it to a higher level of care. I am so thankful my mom is receiving the highest standard of care she truly deserves. Many thanks to all the staff, your professionalism and hard work does not go unnoticed.

On behalf of our family, I am letting others know how much we appreciated the care, compassion and support provided by the staff of Wentworth Court to our step father while his health was failing and during and after his death. We were blown away by the care the staff took to support our mother through this process and to provide coffee, food and aid which meant so much to all of us. 6 years ago my DAD needed full time care, I chose Millrise. Last year my MOM could no longer live independently so once again, I went to Millrise. In 4 days I had her safely place in assisted living. I chose Millrise for 3 main reasons; they keep it very clean, the staff are wonderful and the food is delicious, nutritious and cooked right there in a beautiful kitchen. There are wonderful programs for exercise, entertainment and keeping my MOM engaged in the art of living well. As her cognition decreases, her program needs change… Millrise accommodates all levels of care. The wonderful staff, cleanliness and food have remained constant. Many of the staff who cared for my DAD are still there! It was like coming home to move my MOM in. I’ve recommended Millrise to my friends for their Parents and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to you.
