We recently visited Auburn Heights with a friend to see their grandparents, and it was a really lovely experience. The staff were very warm, kind, and welcoming. The place was clean, and you could clearly see that both the residents and their families felt comfortable and happy. What stood out to me the most was the food. The quality and presentation were outstanding , honestly, it looked like 5-star restaurant food. The residents seemed to really enjoy their meals, and the service was attentive and thoughtful. Overall, it felt like a positive and caring environment. Wishing all the best to the Auburn Heights team for the wonderful work they are doing.

We set out on the painstaking task of finding a seniors home for my 94 year old mother. We looked at a total of 5 and narrowed it down to Auburn Heights quite quickly. The main benefit they had was the ability to age in place. My Mom was very independent but it was good insurance just in case that changed. Well it did change quite suddenly and thankfully we can just move her within the building. When we were comparing to other homes we were amazed at the selection of daily activities. One could be as busy as they wanted. Once moved in the friendly and caring ambience was very noticeable. The meals are consistently good and the amenities in the building are fantastic. Auburn Heights made putting a parent in a home a pleasant experience.

Mom has enjoyed living at Auburn since 2016. The staff are extremely caring and attentive to her needs and the meals are nutritious and tasty. The Blossom Program provides the help she needs to continue to be at all social events (and there are many!). Our family would highly recommend Auburn Heights.

Auburn Heights Retirement Residence has been absolutely wonderful for my mom. The staff are warm, friendly, and truly take the time to adapt to each resident’s personality and individual needs. It gives me such peace of mind knowing that when I leave after a visit, she is being genuinely cared for and looked after. The entire building has a warm, inviting atmosphere”almost like a little mini village that truly feels like home. It’s clear that Auburn Heights Retirement Residence is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for its residents. I’m incredibly grateful for the care and comfort they provide. Highly recommend.

Mom has been a resident at Auburn Heights Retirement for about 4 years. She moved in prior to her transition to memory care. She enjoys the music and loves the attention she receives especially from the staff on the memory care floor. We are pleased to see her still happy and interacting with the staff. If we had to do this all over again I would choose Auburn Heights again without a second thought.

The staff is outstanding. They work so hard but always have time to say hello and smile and help out. The staff learned my parents’ names within a day or two and have been helpful with the move in process. My mom has dementia and is in the Blossom program which allows her to get out and socialize daily, if she wants. Both parents have enjoyed the pool as well as their family members. My parents feel safe and comfortable in their suite and we are so happy we chose Auburn Heights Retirement Residence.

We are so grateful to Auburn Heights for taking such great care of our 96 year old Mom. She feels so well looked after each and every day. The food is great, nice variety. The staff are friendly and kind always happy to help. We appreciate everyone at Auburn Heights for making our mom a part of their family. It makes our lives easier knowing she is taken care of always. Thank you

This place is a very expensive dump. The food is substandard and always late. Even the staff ask "are you waiting for dessert" and our answer is maybe we should wait for the meal first. 45 minutes for a sandwich? That's just one example. If you expect quality care for your loved ones, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. I certainly expected more for $5,000 per month. You know, like decent food in a timely manner. Good luck.

My Dad was hesitant to move from his condo but he settled in very quickly. We actually owe Auburn Heights and their staff for his life - had he been alone in his condo, he probably wouldn't be here. They noticed he wasn't feeling well and got him to the hospital and none too soon. He had a blood clot and almost died. Had they not called an ambulance, he would have. Amazing people, my Dad loves the food, isn't alone anymore and has made some friends there. The amenities are clean, there's lots of activities, a theatre, a coffee station - it's perfect. We are very grateful for all the attention and support he receives. Best move we ever made! Thank you to all the staff! You really make a difference in these seniors lives. Leona

My parents were given the tour and told many untrue things. First regarding the food, they have a red seal chef. 2nd they have a pool open to the residents 24/7. Cable is included which is true except it's the most basic package that you can't even record your programs on. They were told they would be supplied transportation to and from appointments. Only on Wednesdays It wasn't for them and they couldn't wait to get out of there. They decided to sell their home and move in to the residence . They hated the food and the fact you had to eat on the facilities schedule. They couldn't even choose their own dinner table but had to sit at one assigned to them. Some servers were rude and very dismissive. The pool is rented out to outside interests and not available when they wanted. The cable package basically sucked. Long story short , it cost them almost $21000 for a 3 month stay, which was all they could tolerate. They now had to buy another home to live independently again so they could live by their rules. I suggest investigating these homes very thoroughly before moving in. Talk to some residents and get feedback before committing. These places are very expensive and the residents should have no complaints. Just trying to give fair warning before you commit to moving in. It could be disastrous and you may regret your choice.

We moved my mother-in-law into Auburn Heights from a retirement home in Ontario in July. We really considered the decision on whether to make such a big move for her at 92 years of age but we are so glad we did. The care and comfort she receives at Auburn Heights is exceptional. She lives on the memory care floor due to her mobility rather than cognitive needs and she herself says she feels as though she is being treated "as a real person". The staff is attentive and caring, she is very happy with the food (and she is VERY fussy about food) and her overall attitude is much improved from her prior care home. Some of this might be because her family is now physically closer but most of it is due to the care and attention she receives at Auburn Heights. She isn't just left sitting in her room all day alone, she is encouraged to join in activities. We are very happy with our choice and would definitely recommend Auburn Heights to families looking for a safe and comfortable place for their aging family member.

Both of my parents were at Auburn Bay for a few years . My mother loved being there before being transferred for dimensia. My dad continued to stay there for a year after. The staff and management were excellent and as well Dad was well fed. Corey was instrumental and always had a happy face and good words for my father. As their son it was great piece of mind that they were getting the care that they needed and were happy. I would recommend this place for any aging people and for their families as they have great programs for everyone and the staff really seems to care. Aida also comes to mind as my dad saw her every night at dinner time. She as well made my dad feel special as well as my wife and I when we were there for supper. Scott Shyiak

My elderly mother resided at Auburn Heights for 2-years. Mom made many friends there and she felt it was her home. As moms needs grew, she needed more attention from the health team which Auburn was able to provide. The management team at Auburn were a pleasure to work with, answered all our needs and kept mom safe and healthy. I cannot thank the extended health team enough for all the support, assistance and security they offered her. Many times, while visiting mom an extended health team member would pop into moms’ room to check on her, offer her assistance, administer medication, check vitals, etc., where they were always happy to see mom, converse with her, and be part of her extended family. Mom always commented how well her girls treated her. The facility was always clean, well decorated, and offered numerous activities to keep the residents active. I think it is a great option for elderly parents, and I believe it is a good place for them to enjoy their golden years.

I love the Blossom Program at Auburn Heights. Denise and her staff are extremely kind and compassionate for residents with Dementia. They put a lot of thought and preparation into the programs and the residents who partake in the Blossom Program find them fun and engaging absolutely. They use the facilities wisely & creatively as well as take the residents out for country drives and outings. I would highly recommend the blossom program to any residents of Auburn Heights who want that little bit of extra engaging & community in their day. They are a WONDERFUL group of residents who all get along so well and enrich each other’s lives on a daily basis.

Declining quality and service all around. Given the price Auburn Heights charges and what is advertised and promised we hoped this would be a comfortable retirement home for my parents. Instead, the food options often feature pre-packaged/prepared breaded cheap cuts or deli type meats rather than nutritious meals cooked from whole ingredients. The staff, although friendly are spread thin. Suite housekeeping is not as advertised, hit-and-miss. Overall, the residence halls and shared spaces are looking tired, worn and unevenly maintained. When deficiencies are repeatedly brought to the attention of management there are many excuses and justifications, ranging from oh the vacuum cleaner broke to it’s hard to get good staff, NONE of which is a paying customer’s concern. After a year here and seeing no overall improvement I am actively seeking an alternate living arrangement for my parent and I feel very badly for people who do not have someone to advocate for them.

Auburn Heights Retirement Residence has been amazing to work with. I have offered training opportunities to residents, staff, and family caregivers on numerous occasions, and have found Brenda, Cory, Sam, Deniece, and Moira awesome to work with. Their care for the residents is obvious not only by their desire to offer information sessions on managing dementia, how the brain works, and strategies for engaging with people living with dementia, but to also being proactive in partnering to offer sessions on how to maximize brain health. I have heard many positive comments from residents and staff alike about living and working at Auburn Heights.

Today marks four years that Mom has lived in the Auburn Heights Retirement Residence community. On her first day there, Mom commented I love it. Mom still comments the same way today four years later. Over the years, Mom has frequently used the pool and her patio. These were two of her requests when we were looking for the best place for Mom to live and she has taken advantage of both. Mom has also frequently participated in the many activities that occur in the community each month. Our family is also is very happy with the Auburn Heights Retirement Residence. As Mom has moved from her early 80’s to her mid 80’s we have been able to increase her care to help maintain her quality of life.

When our parents were ready to downsize we looked at every Seniors residence in Calgary, short listed a few and returned to 3 or 4, a couple of times. Mom and Dad decided on Auburn Heights because of their ability to be able to add care as need, and the peace of mind it would bring since dad had the beginnings of dementia. The family all agreed this would be the best choice. Great until they had to actually move to the dementia floor. Run don't walk away from the second floor, terrible! They have zero clue how to treat these poor people, they let another resident basically move in with our dad. What I thought would be the place for him until the end just became a complete nightmare and we had to move him out. Shameful that they allow the woman in charge to just tell families lies and then refuse to deal with any issues. We had to involve the upper management to get any type of resolution.

My mom lived here for 4 months. It was absolutely perfect for her as her dementia progressed. Cory helped us so much. It is a very family friendly place - there were things for my grandchildren to do there. Also there is a pool that family of residents is able to use. As her dementia increased she was safe in the residence and could not wander away. There were others at a similar stage in dementia so she could have friends. The suite was really nice with a beautiful view from her deck. My mom is only moving so that she can be closer to her family. AHRR is in a great location, lots of activities for folks to do. I highly recommend AHRR for any senior and if you need supports, it’s available for you.

My father moved into Auburn Heights in November of 2021. With Cory’s help the transition of moving from his home for over 40 years to his new residence was made easy. He was able to bring his own furniture and set up his new lodgings to his liking making it feel like home. The building is bright, clean and full of amenities. With a theatre, pool, exercise room, bistro, games room and library there are many places to just hang out or join in the numerous daily activities. Nurses and the entire staff have been wonderful. Always friendly, engaging and available to give extra help or support. The housekeeping (which includes laundry service for linens and towels) and meal service are fantastic, taking a lot of the daily stresses away of living on your own. It’s been two months and I think he has settled into his new surroundings. He was lucky enough to reconnect with an old friend, who is also a resident, and has made some new ones. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave his house but making Auburn Heights his new home was.

The care and attention that my mother received within the community of Auburn Heights Retirement Residence was far beyond what I expected. My mother was on the memory care floor living with advanced dementia. We moved her from Victoria to Auburn Heights and were met with open arms and open hearts. The staff and caregivers were wonderful in their attention to detail and to the small nuances of caring for someone who could no longer speak or interact with others to any great degree. My mom blossomed here and responded so well to those around her and it astounded me. The staff always had time to talk to me and let me know of the little triumphs in my mom's daily routines. I'm forever grateful for the support they gave me during our dark times and the final week of my mother's journey with this horrible disease... the love and support was so, so appreciated. I am forever grateful that my mom was able to receive palliative care in her own suite until her passing. I also enjoyed many of the residence of Auburn Heights as well ... what an active bunch!! Most specifically, their flexibility and dedication is both acknowledged and very much appreciated. We like the facility so much that have placed both my wife's and my parents into this facility as we felt that it met the full life service that they would eventually require, while offering a great community while they are/were active. I do have to admit up front that I rarely write a review concerning anything ,with this said here I am writing a review concerning Auburn Heights Retirement Residence . I can not say enough about how great our family and my 100 year old father in laws experience has been since he moved into his new " home " back in September 2020 . He was a bit apprehensive about the move and to be honest so were we, after our first tour of the residence and seeing all the wonderful amenities and understanding just how special this community is . The staff are amazing from front end to back end ........they are very caring and have a high level of concern for each and every Resident to make sure their needs are looked after and that they truly feel at " home " . Well its been almost 10 months and WOW the experience has been amazing my father in law continues to prosper and we as a family can rest assured that he is being looked after that provides us with a wonderful peace of mind . Hats off to everyone at Auburn Heights and special thanks to both Cory and Brenda .

The professional team at Auburn Heights Retirement Residence is exceptionally accommodating, and worked within COVID-19 guidelines to make Mom's move seamless. They have a genuine interest in their residents' care, safety and well-being. 'Auburn' is a positive, supportive community, which is evident by the staff-resident interactions, and comfortable, bright environment! As a retired health care clinician, I have witnessed how well the management and staff have navigated COVID-19, protecting residents and staff, while keeping residents' day-to-day lives as normal as possible.

My mom is 71 and has early onset dementia. Early in 2021 we realized that staying at home was not a safe option and my dad, brother and I could not be adequate care-givers for her. Covid restrictions have made things much worse. We researched a number of Retirement Residences in Calgary and decided to try Auburn Heights. The initial move was incredibly stressful and did not go over very well with mom. But Cory, Brenda, Dawit and the entire staff and other residents at Auburn Heights have been so accommodating, helpful, understanding, and simply amazing! We take comfort knowing that mom is safe, receiving good healthcare, eating well, and in a place with people who care about her well-being. She receives help with medications, escorts to meals, regular doctor appointments in her suite, and has a companion visit a few days a week. While COVID restrictions have made things more difficult, my Dad and I are still able to visit (as designated caregivers) and she can leave the residence with us. All resident's now have their COVID shots also. The building and facilities are top-notch. Very large suites with lots of light and private balconies. A pool, gym, movie room and salon. It is walking distance from a couple playgrounds for grand-kid visits and our whole family can't wait to visit Auburn Lake this summer!

My mom has lived at Auburn Heights for over two years and I have nothing but great things to say about the residence. It was very difficult after my father passed away and it was apparent she could no longer live on her own. After touring many facilities we chose Auburn Heights and it is confirmed daily that we made the right decision. We really like the 'age-in-place' aspect. The most important thing to us is my Mom is happy - she loves the pool, the exercise classes, and other available activities (especially the Sunday drive in the country). She tells us often how good the food is! This past year living with Covid has been difficult for everyone. This is especially true for anyone living and working in a retirement residence. Kudos to the staff for their management of the residence during the pandemic. I would highly recommend Auburn Heights Retirement Residence.

My Mother went into Auburn, unfortunately she passed soon after. As her daughter living overseas..I found the communication between Cory Baiton exceptional. She kept me informed of Moms stay and was very patient and understanding when I spoke to her. Indeed, all the staff I spoke to seemed nice.

During a time of great change and uncertainty Auburn Heights has made the process easier. Everyone there is helpful and kind. It is the kind of place where they not only know the residents names but the family too. They truly care about the health and happiness of all the residents and have worked very hard to ensure the health of their residents is protected while not forgetting the importance of connection with friends and family. We wanted a place that could be home for the next phase of life and had supports in place so in the years to come we could have a relationship with my mom, not be her caregiver. So far they have delivered!

My 90 year-old father moved in last October. Despite the pandemic, the move was smooth and he has happily settled into this very nice residence. The whole staff (from front desk through to the Directors) are very caring and highly competent, and very responsive to any concerns and questions. I very highly recommend.

Our experience every time we visit AH is exceptional including the pleasant, professional staff members who greet us and make us feel welcome. The residents we meet are always happy and friendly. Both my Father who passed away Nov 10 2020 and my Mother who passed April 8 2019 were treated exceptionally well in the almost 4 years they resided at Auburn Heights. They thought of the care workers and staff as their extended family and greatly appreciated, as did my family the great care and kindness shown to both of them. I’d like to thank all the staff and especially the 2nd floor staff who respected and cared for my Mom and especially for my Dad who was without his wife for a few years. They’re both together now. Thank you Staff at Auburn Heights!

My parents were at Auburn for about four years. During that time the staff really watched out for them. There were many, many times that the staff went above and beyond what we should have expected in an independent living situation. Melinda helped Dad with his TV remote and checked on them as she made her housekeeping rounds. The front desk staff would send somebody up to check that the phone was on the hook those times when I got a busy signal for hours. When Dad would have a fall or feel unwell, he got attention right away. It was an adjustment leaving their beautiful home to move to a retirement facility but the presentation and quality of the meals and the ambience of the dining room didn’t feel at all institutional. Before covid, Dad enjoyed the weekly happy hours and the entertainment that was scheduled. I think we were fortunate to have chosen Auburn for their new home.

My Mom is 92 and has been at Auburn Heights for a year and a half. I researched retirement homes for her initially looking for homes that had government funding and as my Mom has dementia I wanted a residence that had the capacity to care for her needs. After my initial review I decided to look at privately funded care homes that were reasonably priced and had memory care capability. When I toured Auburn Heights I knew right away that I found the right place! My Mom started out pretty independently and the care team was fantastic at getting her into some of their activities. As her health has declined over the past few months, the Nursing staff has been incredible with their attention to detail and her care. The administration and care teams got this facility through COVID without any major outbreaks (compared to some) and I feel that the decision that I made for my Mom 1 1/2 years ago was the right one. Thank you to all especially during the past year!!!

Auburn Bay was the facility I chose for my mom because it had a combination of assisted living and memory care. My mom was still capable of some autonomy, but would eventually need the memory care. This facility also allows cats to be kept by the owners, as long as they are able to take care of the animals. I think that this eases the transition into care for some individuals. Like many whom are living alone with the onset of dementia, my mom had become overly thin from forgetting to eat or not wanting to. She has gained back quite a bit of weight since coming to Auburn Bay and is now looking healthier. I am grateful for that.

My mom loves her home at Auburn Heights. The staff are so kind to her. Home care staff are thoughtful and respectful. Her suite is spotless thanks to Melinda. Melinda and other staff members also check in on her once in a while and makes mom feel special. Maintenance is quick thanks to Garfield. Health issues are addressed through medical or Homecare. Dr. Gopie is knowledgeable of geriatric issues and he’s thoughtful and generous with his time during appointments. When we were visiting we are welcomed with friendliness by front desk staff. We were very impressed by the way Auburn Heights dealt with Covid. They were very professional and extremely caring to try to keep the cases down. Mom is comfortable and well cared for at Auburn Heights. She is happy.

My parents moved to Auburn in summer 2017. From day one, whether it be Front Desk staff, Bus Drivers, Homecare, Melinda who cleans their suite, even maintenance and the dining room staff made them feel welcome and treated them like it was their own parents. My parents loved when a staff member would just pop in for a few minutes to say hi and check in on them and grab a candy here and there. When my dad passed away last year, the compassion that was shown to our family will always stay with us. This still continues with my mom. She is so happy where she is and it’s such a relief to our family that we know she’s so well looked after by everyone at Auburn. My parents even recommended Auburn to their friends who ended up moving in. During COVID lockdowns, it was so hard on all the residents but the staff went beyond to keep them safe. My mom loved the afternoon goody wagon that stopped by. Thank you Auburn.

Both of my parents moved into Auburn Heights a couple of years ago. They thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities that were offered with the other residents as it kept them socially active and vital. As my dad's health started to deteriorate, we moved them to the 2nd floor where additional medical care services are offered. Although my dad has now passed, his last year was made more comfortable by the excellent care he received, and my mom worried less as she had "a team" to help take care of him. Since his passing, my mom has now moved back into the "main" part of the residence. The care and compassion she's received from the staff as she starts this new life chapter has been amazing! From the "outside", my family and I are so grateful for the care and dedication that's been the standard practice of Auburn Heights staff, and especially for the extensive precautions taken to protect the residents from Covid thru this pandemic. None of it has been easy for anyone, but they've taken many extra steps to ensure the comfort, safety and well-being throughout. I'm so glad we were able to move them here - it's been such a blessing to not have to worry if the day-to-day needs are being met and with the medical staff right there, including a doctor who does house calls, we know my mom will be happy and safe. I would have no hesitation in recommending Auburn Heights to anyone looking for a clean, safe, fun place for their loved one(s).

My 86 year old father-in-law moved into Auburn Heights this past October when he realized it was just getting too hard to manage by himself in his home. Well he's never looked back and his health has improved with all his needs being taken care of. It is a beautiful residence with excellent staff and I hope to be at a place so nice when I am at that stage of life. They managed the recent Covid outbreak wonderfully and they have our full confidence.

I found Auburn Heights for my elderly Mother a few months ago, as she was looking for an age care facility to move in to. She moved in to Auburn Heights at the end of December and has thoroughly enjoyed her time there so far. The staff at the facility are nothing short of remarkable. My Mom and I are still getting to know all of the staff, but right from the start Jos©, who works at the front reception and Cory, who is the Lifestyle Director greeted us with open arms. Cory and Jos© made us feel so incredibly welcome and were always available to help out, suport and answer any questions that we had. I know my Mom will flourish here and enjoy living in this beautiful retirement residence.

Auburn Heights has turned out to be everything I was looking for. Amenities include excellent meals, housekeeping, comfortable suite, exercise room, pool, concrete and steel building, etc. Great location with shopping nearby and easy access to the Deerfoot and Ring Road. Management are competent, friendly and accessible, staff are great. Numerous activities are available and they encouraged me to put up an antenna to continue my ham radio hobby as other residents may be interested. The virus situation has been handled well - we are clear now and vaccinations are scheduled.

I want to take a moment to recognize the kindness and hard work being done by the management and staff at Auburn. We have recently moved our mother into Auburn. This was not an easy decision and, during a global pandemic it is a difficult and complicated time to make this move. We appreciate the kindness, patience and hard work everyone has shown to us. They were very accommodating with use while we moved mom into her suite. Everyone has been kind and patient, helping her feel welcome and safe and they have spent time with us to help us to understand the transition. Stay calm and keep smiling.

You will be repeatedly assured that your loved one can "age in place" here -- this is NOT the case. Not a suitable choice for more complex needs -- an AHS PUBLIC facility with established connections to AHS specialty teams would be more appropriate. Auburn Heights needs to realize it's limitations: lack of leadership (multiple leadership changes in 2019/2020), disconnect between Management and front line staff, poor communication, lack of critical thinking and follow-through. 3 star rating takes into consideration the great care experienced while in Assisted Living. Zero stars for blatant lack of knowledge and inaction re: end of life/complex care management. Posted by a Registered Nurse.
