We moved my father to Avendelle Waterford Place on December 20th. I know it has only been a month, but I feel I must tell everyone how wonderful it is. Prior to living at Avendelle, my father was in a large assisted living facility. It was a very pretty facility, but that is not always a good indicator of the quality of care. He started out in the assisted living, but because he needed more individual care, we were forced to move him to the memory care section. Although I was paying as much at the large facility as I am now paying at Avendelle for his care, my father always looked unkempt and his hygiene was awful. The staff-resident ratio was 1 to 8 and there was always a big turnover. At Avendelle, the ration is 2 to 6 and it is obvious that the staff love their work and the residents. The care is excellent. My father is always clean and is so content there. The home is exactly that. It is a home and it is beautiful and pristine clean. The staff is truly concerned for my fathers health and welfare and are so kind to us. Esther and all the staff have made this transition a pleasure. Placing my father in a care facility has been one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever had to make, but I am so at peace with this decision now that he is at Avendelle. I placed my mother here after being in a larger facility that was not the best in 2015. My mother had Alzheimers and it progressed very quickly so she lived here right at a year. Esther, Monique and the staff were very kind and compassionate towards my mom. At the end of her journey the staff and especially Monique did everything they could to make mom comfortable and let her go home to her Heavenly Father with dignity. For this kind of love shown from all of you .... I am forever grateful. I can tell you from experience that you wont find this kind of care for your loved one in a larger facility or anywhere else. I slept better at night knowing she was in a good place. Thank you to all who cared for my mom..... its not an easy job and you have my upmost respect. 5 stars
