We moved my dad in to Cadence after visiting seemingly every facility in Raleigh. My dad needed memory care and I loved that the memory care unit here feels like home in the same way that the rest of the facility feels. The building is one story and just feels happy and homey. The staff, though, are what truly makes Cadence special. From Lucy, in the front office who took us on our tour and continues to help us with anything we need, to Angie the incredibly caring director of memory care who will text pics and updates, and the rest of the Cadence staff... these people treat myself and, most importantly, my dad like family ❤.

Cadence North Raleigh is a great Senior Living Center with fantastic people! I am blessed with taking care of my Mother but noticed that I was not making much progress any longer in her attaining a higher level of health and mental state. We looked at all the facilities in Raleigh and decided that with the 5 Star Reviews and Increasing State Scores of Cadence North Raleigh this was a good possibility. We arrived this week and it has been a whirlwind of activity! There is so much to participate in for Mom and family is invited to be a part of everything. They have the Doctors On Call and Bayada Home Health and all other options show up and review Mom and their goals for Mom are fantastic! I have seen her become more excited about participating in life this week as a result of all the stimulation and care she is getting! I would highly recommend you visit this small, intimate, well staffed, comfortable and highly client focused place for your loved one to live before making your decision to go anywhere else!

After caring for our Mother for many years at home, it became necessary to find a facility to take care of her. Mom is 99 years old and blind from Macular degeneration.after touring many facilities in Raleigh, we chose Cadence. We were afraid our Mother would be lost in the larger facilities. Cadence is a smaller care facility, where we were sure Mom would get more attention. Everyone at Cadence is wonderful, the administration, and management staff , the wonderful care givers that take of Mom daily. We are very happy with every aspect of Cadence of North Raleigh.

My Mom has been a resident at Cadence for 2+years in Memory Care. The staff is compassionate and attentive. Memory Care Director Lakeshia Bell is stellar. My family is most grateful for the attentive and individual care the staff has provided for Mom. Fall Festival in support of Dementia Alliance of NC! Shawn and his compassionate staff hit it out of the park once again! Family and community involvement is a given here at Cadence! Stellar! 5+++stars!

My 97 year old mother -in-law has been at this facility for almost 4 years and I couldnt be happier. She is well taken care of, likes the food and the staff, and is generally about as happy as she is capable of being.

We moved my Dad to memory care at Carillon which is now operated by Cadence Living In May 2019. The Executive Director, Shawn Cothran, works tirelessly for the wellbeing of the residents and their families as well as the tremendously caring staff who work with him. My Dad has thrived since coming to live here. He is even using his walker most of the time instead of his wheel chair. He eats better and intakes more fluids than he did when at home and is also busy making friends with anyone with a friendly, smiling face that will chat with him. During this pandemic, Shawn and his team have done an outstanding job of protecting everyone from Covid-19. I am so grateful for all of the people that take care of my Dad and make sure he and the other residents are safe and well cared for especially now that we havent been able to go inside the facility since March. It has been hard not being with Dad but the new window visits that they have arranged are working very well and I always enjoy my window time with Dad and look forward to the day when we can go back inside and see not only Dad but also the staff and other residents that are part of our Cadence community. Like the review from Kayla below, I was more than disappointed to find out that Cadence would not honor the agreement we had with Carillon regarding the Medicaid bed after a minimum of 18 months of full pay once Dad qualified for it. That program was a major piece of our decision to place Dad at Carillon. While I am not happy they chose not to honor this, it is not a factor in my review of the care my Dad receives or my opinion of the facility and staff. Cadence is ideally located for our family and Shawn and his team have gone above and beyond to make Dads experience a safe and happy one.

My mom has been in the Memory Garden at Cadence for 2 years now. She is happy and gets great care. We moved mom and dad to Raleigh in the Fall of 2014. Due to their different health issues, we had them in 4 different facilities before finding Cadence. I can honestly say, I am so glad we found them. They treat mom with dignity, respect, and genuine concern. They laugh with her and have patience with her. During this Covid pandemic, I have not worried about mom and her care. I know she is well cared for. The workers have gone out of their way to keep mom safe, entertained, involved in activities, and her needs met. They have thought outside the box and kept the residents active. Every weekday during the pandemic we (the families) have received a group email with pictures and info into our loved ones lives. They have set up window and porch visits and Face time as Covid has allowed. They use Doctors Making House Calls so the doctors come to the facility, which is helpful since I work. Shawn (the executive director) is involve daily. He even began wearing a face mask way back in the the beginning, because He wanted to set the example for his workers. I, as a family member, have NEVER felt like I was intruding, interrupting , or that Ive asked a stupid question by any worker. My concerns have been addressed in a timely manner. Thank you Cadence for caring for my mom like she was yours and giving me peace knowing she is good hands.

I moved my disabled brother-in-law to Cadence in February 2020. I had spent several months looking for the right facility to provide assisted living for him. From my first contact with Cadence to the present time, I have been impressed with the quality of interest in and care for my brother-in-law. They have been especially attentive to the his special needs and personality. I highly recommend Cadence in North Raleigh for anyone needing personalized assisted care.

My father moved into Cadence Assisted Living (formally known as Carillon Assisted Living) after he had a major stroke in April of 2018. At the time we signed the initial agreement with Carillon, we knew he wouldnt have enough money to self-pay his way through for the remainder of his life. We knew his savings would only last for approximately 18 months. We spoke with Shawn, the Facility Administrator, and he assured us that if my dad paid out of pocket for the first 18 months, he would qualify for a Medicaid bed at the facility for the remainder of his life. Fast forward to approximately 18 months later, Carillon was purchased by another company named Cadence. And all of a sudden, we were getting phone calls from Shawn, the Facility Administrator saying that my Dad would no longer qualify for a Medicaid bed, because of a black-out period. He knew our family was in the process of applying for Medicaid which is a long and very lengthy process. He then told us my Dad had to move out of the facility and would never qualify for a Medicaid bed at this facility even after spending his entire life savings. We were upset, frustrated, and very hurt by this and needless to say, we felt very used and like a number by this bureaucratic organization. We were promised my Dad would qualify for a Medicaid bed and when he had spent his entire life savings…there was nothing they could do. Yea, right…. After my dad had finally gotten used to his new normal, developed relationships with nurse aides, and gotten used to navigating in his wheelchair around the facility, we had to break the news to him that he would have to move into a new forever home, with very little notice. The Medicaid process is very lengthy and complicated and finding an available Medicaid bed in the Raleigh area is very difficult. Almost all the facilities have 2 beds if any that are set aside for Medicaid patients and most of them have waiting lists. This took our family 3 months to complete this task which put us over the 18-month mark. My Dad was finally relocated to the new facility mid-March of 2020. Now, 2 months later, Cadence is sending collection letters and threatening to sue my family for $20,000 for the 3 ½ months it took our family to find a facility to accept him as a Medicaid patient. This facility took over $80,000 of our Dads life savings and then they kicked him to the curb in the blink of an eye. We put our trust and faith in this facility to take care of my Dad and they had no integrity or courtesy to take care of him even after they took his life savings. What an unethical organization! Buyer Beware….think twice and ask a lot of questions before you think of placing your loved one here and always get everything in writing if they make any promises as they certainly dont honor them!

My 93 yr old father has been at cadence about two weeks now after some time in the hospital and nursing home. What a great place! The people, including the Director, Marketing personnel, caretakers, nurses and cleaning staff are very polite, attentive, professional and genuinely care about the residents here. Have not seen an angry face yet, even on the residents. I dropped in unannounced one Saturday and was spending time with my dad in his room and in the first two hours at least three people stopped by to ask my dad if he was doing alright and was there anything they could do for him. Cadence is about 7 years old, caters to about 65 residents, and is kept in wonderful shape. The grounds are maintained. The building is quite and peaceful. They assist my dad with bathing, getting dressed and getting to the dining room if necessary. The rooms are clean, carpeted and furnished with dresser, night table ,bed and two wing back style chairs (at least in my dads room). Big bathroom with walk in shower and bench. You can bring your own furniture, TV etc., and just about anything else that would make the room more like home and even hang pictures. They provide 3 meals a day in the dining room which does look like a very nice restaurant. They seem to have a good selection of food to choose from. My dads first meal I ate with him was beef tips over rice, broccoli, fruit if you wanted and Peach Cobbler for dessert. It was very good. Plenty of ice tea and milk. Coffee was also offered. My dad has enjoyed the meals he has had so far. In closing, my mother and three brothers feel very happy we found Cadence for dad. If your looking for a place for that someone in your family that needs assistance in the golden years I believe this would fit the bill.

I am looking forward to the new and upcoming changes in the Raleigh community . I currently serve as the Memory Care Director in our Revere neighborhood serving our amazing residents with Dementia, Alzheimers diease. Our goal as a community is to always put our residents first, be person -centered, teach and train our employees and grow collectively while moving forward in our transition. There is still room for improvement, however room for improvement open doors for opportunities for Cadence of N. Raleigh to take it to the next level. We continue to thrive on the great southern hospitality that we display in our community as well as the customer service that we provide to our residents by showing compassion, respect and understanding to them and to their families. We appreciate our residents, families and our staff during this process. Moving forward, we would love for Cadence to be your home away from home.

My husband John has lived in this facility for slightly over four years. I would like to commend the leadership of Shawn Cothran and his staff for the outstanding and loving care that he has received. I always feel confident that he is in good hands even when I am not there. Johns needs ~ and mine ~ are always met in a timely manner. The policies set in place by Cadence Living are definitely set with the residents and their families in mind, from the food provided to the housekeeping and handyman services to the careful administering of medications. Put simply, this is the kind of place where I would be willing (should it become necessary) to spend my days.
