I know it looks like a "shill" did this review, but even when i put my white gloves on i can't find room for improvement. About 5 years ago my mother and stepfather, in their 80's, started to go down physically and mentally. For 2 1/2 years we struggled with caring for them in their own home. That is what they wanted and the family honored those wishes until it got to be too difficult. 2 1/2 years ago we started looking around for an assisted living facility to move them..Between the four children we looked at many facilities. We finally agreed on Acacia Manor in Burlingame, CA. That turned out to be the best decision we made for their care during the last years of their life. What were the most important factors in my rating them as EXCELLENT. Most important was the daily caregiving including feeding, cleaning, dispensing medications and regular monitoring. The staff at Acacia Manor goes way beyond what is necessary. In fact, they treated them like family would, not just a job. They talked to them, were gentle, and monitored their needs continually. Secondly, the facility was kept extremely clean all the time. Thirdly, they coordinated very well with Hospice. Other issues of note: the staff prepared regular, healthy, tasty meals; the facility is located in a good neighborhood; it is easily accessible from the freeway. All in all, you can do nothing better than place your loved one at Acacia Manor.
