I had the privilege of working at the Stratford as a chauffeur in 1998. At that time the facility was managed by the Raiser family. What a great family & what an amazing facility. The fire marshal told me that The Stratford was the safest building in San Mateo County. I am 81 years old now living in Arizona & have many fond memories of my time at the Stratford.

It has been a pleasure working with Amnes Vega at the Stratford in San Mateo. She has been very helpful in finding accommodations for our organization's monthly meetings in December 2024, May and August of 2025. I've been to other organization's meetings at The Stratford and noticed that they bent over backwards to make us welcome and provide a beautiful and especially delicious array of pastries, fruit, and drinks for the occasion. In addition, I find Amnes knowledge of the facility and amenities exceptional! Mary Lee Delehanty AbilityPath Auxiliary Hospitality chairperson

Invited to brunch, facilities and food very very good. Residents were engaging. Amenities include security, parking, lap pool, gym, game room, home theater, library, large meeting room with kitchen, and two dedicated guest rooms. Activities for residents are plentiful, both on and off site. Location excellent, across from Central Park.

Very professional staff takes great care of residents. As an outside therapy vendor, I have been coming here for over 10 years and the place is always clean and well taken care of. The nurses have a high standard of care. I enjoy working here and seeing the residents well taken care of.

The Stratford is one of the most beautiful senior living communities I have seen. The staff are wonderful, the grounds are beautiful and the residents seem very very happy! I heard great things about the food and the service from each of the residents I spoke with and was able to enjoy an afternoon tea while I was there. 5 stars for sure

We have been residents of the Stratford for two years and really love it. The management and medical staff guided us through the COVID pandemic skillfully and safely. The availability of a 9 room intermediate level assisted living clinic is one of the main reasons we are here. Competent nursing staff is always available. The staff is friendly and helpful. The heated swimming pool and spa are a pure delight. Activities abound and the food, thanks to a resident food committee, is five star. It is the best place to retire!!!

We are very fortunate to be residents of the Stratford. As seniors, our life has been so enhanced. We are no longer isolated since we enjoy the friendship of wonderful residents and staff. From lovely dinners, fun outings, in house concerts and help with many tasks, we are so well taken care of. Being in a small senior facility is optimum as we really feel a sense of community.

Could not be happier! I moved in here less than a year ago and really have been so pleased with my experience so far. Everything I had been top notch - in particular the staff. From the front desk to the executive director to the activities director to the dining staff to housekeeping. All have individually contributed to making my day to day here at the Stratford feel like a home. They are always open for suggestions and any issue is resolved timely. My highest recommendations!

I lived in the Stanford for two years and I am coming back to it after spending 2years on the East Coast. I have had a great time at the Stratford with its wonderful residents, caring staff and elegant appointments. It is a unique welcoming facility.

We went for tea and a tour of the building. We felt that it was a very nice place. The menus we saw were varied and you could go to the dining room or have it delivered to your unit. The unit had a lot of windows making it full of light. Full kitchens phase every thing you could want or need although not high end. In room laundry also convenient. The patio is nice with varied views of Central Park. Also and quite important there is a floor for people recovering from surgery up to hospice care. You can opt for any medical care up to and including hospice care in your condominium.

I was given an hour tour to consider a home for my dad after my mom passes (who is in hospice care now). I liked what I saw. The building is overall very impressive, nicely designed, and the decor pleasing to the eye. The air about the place, atmosphere, speaks volumes about any place like this, I noted when walking about I had a warm welcoming feeling. I didnt feel like this was a senior facility, with all the negative connotations that term conveys. A main concern for me is my dads security and safety. To that extent I was impressed at how the building is locked down to strangers, but the tenants, residents appear to feel so safe they move about without concern and they didnt convey that they were prisoners. That brings to mind something else I noticed, the residents I observed while I was there were talkative, meeting in groups chit chatting by the fireplace, dining (in what looks like a fine dining restaurant), and otherwise making the place look like a small town, everyone meeting in the town square. I am looking for a larger unit because my dad would be coming from a large home that he has lived in for 67 years. (It is a Kaiser home, that he bought in 1950 for $10,000!) The homes I saw were very nice. The layouts are functional and look very attractive with the personal touch of a new owner. When I went on tour I was helped by someone in sales management, first name Althea cant remember the last. She was a very pleasant sort, and most critical for me, she was extremely knowledgeable; Althea able to answer ALL my questions. I think she has multiple licenses and degrees, so she knows a LOT about elder care, senior needs, real estate, and possesses genuine compassion, which will make this difficult process manageable. (As you may suspect, my dad is initially not keen on the idea of leaving his home of almost 70 years. But the doctors have said he cannot live alone.) Anyway, Im not looking around elsewhere because the Stafford, or is it Stratford (sorry, spelling was never my specialty) is as nice a senior living residence as I could ever hope to find. Seniors like my dad are not going to find a nicer place to reside. I can with confidence assure my dad this is a really great place (of course I will have to promise for us to walk to the close by restaurant district for dinner 2 X a week). Hope that helps.
