I want to take this moment to thank the entire staff at The Oakmont of Burlingame. They are all truly angels. Excellent caregivers and professionals. My aunt came to live there at the Memory Care Residence early this year. Immediately she was welcomed into the community and thrived based on their attention, care & love, including many activities to keep her engaged. Annie Walker and her team were always happy, caring & enthusiastic. Annie made it a point to contact me with any concerns regarding my aunt, as well as sharing the many good times with photos & videos at times when I wasn't able to be there. Annie's team are angels and I especially remember Amy, Ruth & Johnny. Thank you for your loving attention my aunt received. I also want to give big love to Desiree and Danica at the concierge desk for their ever welcoming and warm greetings in person and on the phone. Again, thank you all!

Annie and her team have been, and continue to be, so loving, caring, and skillful in their care and attention of my mom. I do not know how we would have made the transition without Annie (and her team) or how we would manage through the day to day of having a loved one with dementia. My family is so, so grateful for all Annie and her team do to make my mom's world better, the fun and up beat spirit they exude with the residents, and how welcoming Annie and her team make us feel when we visit. Annie is the glue and the leader that makes it all work. Her incredible care team is a direct reflection of her amazing leadership. They make a tough experience more than just something to survive. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and caring during those difficult times. My mom moved to the third floor in her late 90's. The staff on the third floor were upbeat and present. They communicated with me in person and by phone daily so I always felt connected and assured of the care she was receiving.

My father has been a resident at Sunrise / Oakmont for over 4 years. Desiree Vigil is the prefect person for greeting people as they enter Oakmont. As we (mom and I) are at Oakmont every day, we appreciate her friendly and respectful greetings, her willingness to help with a problem or direct you to someone that can assist with our questions. The front desk can be very chaotic, and we are amazed how she keeps her cool and responds to each person. Often residents are at the front desk and Desiree is very patient, treating them with respect and reassures them that all is good and gets help from a caregiver for them. My father requires special handling and has appointments 3 days a week. Desireee makes sure it happens which prevents a lot of chaos for the caregivers, home health nurses, and my father. I am not sure what we would do without the help of Desiree, Danika & Giselle…the entire concierge team at Oakmont.

My father and his partner, both 95 years old, moved into Oakmont of Burlingame about four months ago. It was a big but necessary change for both of them. The whole staff of Oakmont made the transition as smooth as possible. The care team consisting of the nurses and care givers are very kind and hard working. The concierge team including Desiree Vigil as well as Giselle Raj are key to keeping Oakmont running smoothly. They help us with many tasks, keep an eye on my father and his partner when we are not there, and are so pleasant and friendly. Oakmont has been a good fit for my father and his partner.

18 months ago, when my mother was no longer able to live on her own, I moved her into memory care at Sunrise of Burlingame. From day one, I've felt like the staff sees my mother like a really good friend. They make her feel very special. When we leave the building, we're always greeted at the front desk with big smiles and a genuine interest in where we're going. And, when we return, they always ask my mom how her day was. Desiree is always willing to go the extra mile in answering everyone's questions, and if she doesn't know the answer, she'll get back to you or let you know who to talk to. The front desk can often get crazy busy, but Desiree always gets everything taken care of and still takes the time to make sure that I'm doing well, too. As my mother would say, "Desiree" is such a doll!!! Five Things are not the same since the management changed to Oakmont of Burlingame last year. There's been a huge turnover of staff. Some not so good… which is a shame.

Her arrival was nothing short of divine intervention, infusing light into our darkest hours. As my mother embarked on the daunting journey of a full shoulder replacement, the support from our primary hospital and insurance provider fell disappointingly short. However, Ms. Kori's presence brought a silver lining to our tumultuous ordeal. Bob & Mickey were welcomed from day one! I was their previous caretaker, so I set the bar pretty high. When I moved them in I was a bit nervous, but the nerves were gone quite quickly. Both were on the Memory Care floor and the staff was amazing- Annie Walker, the supervisor of the floor is such a valuable member of this team. She made herself available- even on days off- this was often with Bobs decline. With the decline in memory with both of them the care became more the staff didn't miss a beat. They showed genuine empathy, tenderness and patience. The staff -I can't name them all- went above and beyond in caring for Bob and Mickey and I am forever grateful. All staff on Memory Care are wonderful Sunrise overall is wonderful. Move-in was seamless with Theresa, and Jessica was so patient with me in my questionsI in finance. I was always greeted by name from the moment I walked in the door by Desyree I can't say enough good thins about this place

My father was on the memory care floor for 11 months and Mom in the assisted-living floor for 15. It is to be hoped, with Oakmont's acquisition, that the level of care will remain as high as it is under Sunrise. The cleanliness was immaculate, the decor was cheery, and the staff were patient and warm. Two members were particular stars. Desiree, who, as concierge always had tasks requiring her attention, was nevertheless reliably welcoming, calm, and congenial, and, when a brief illness required my mother to remain in her room for several days, made a point to give her extra assistance, even retrieving her clothes from the dry cleaners down the street. Georgie, who worked in the memory-care unit, brought her full self to her job, for instance, by reading aloud the newspaper to the residents with such animation that they were transfixed. She treated them all as if they were her own parents. My interactions with the business office were professional and prompt, the laundry service was faultless, and both my parents enjoyed the food. I would only caution that this establishment is best suited to residents who in a stage when they don't require extensive stimulation. While bingo games, musical performances, and chair exercise sessions were well-attended, other activities, such as walking clubs and wine socials, were less so. Mom had some difficulty generating conversations with many of the residents, who, although not in memory care, frequently preferred to remain quiet during meals. If your loved ones fit this profile, I would recommend this facility highly.

My father went into Sunrise after a hospitalization that caused him to be put on hospice and in memory care. With my Dad being very dependent at that time, Sunrise was just wonderful at helping get him situated quickly, caring for all of his needs and helping him adjust to the community. All of the staff are so caring and professional and have such a wonderful way of dealing with families when they are anxious. They work to calm situations and are so great with the residents.
