Golden Heritage Living – Reviews
November 2020
Holden Heritage is an outstanding facility. My mom moved here when she couldnt take care of herself. The staff here are caring and knowledgeable. They provide varied meals (mostly Asian), organize daily activities. They even volunteer their own time to put on music and dance performances for the residents. My mom stayed here for about 2 years until she recently passed away. Along the way, Golden Heritage worked with us to provide increasing levels of care. The staff here gave timely advices and supported my family when we needed it. Ive come to know and respect many of them, from care givers to nurse, from front desk to back office. Theyve made our lives easier.

I visited a dear friends Mom who had been taken from her beautiful home after 65+ years in Berkeley & moved down to Golden Heritage in SJ, far away from her family, relatives, friends, church etc by her son and daughter-in-law. From a 3 bedroom, 2 story house to a small shared room with only a bed, a small closet. A bureau & a small room t.v. In The ceiling & shared shower bath. The rooms look like hospital rooms!! Very impersonal with just a plastic curtain seperating the 2 inhabitants. At least90% of the inmates and 100% of the staff is Asian. The staff speaks to each other in their home language. English is not spoken nor understood very well. Needless to say, my friend , who was approx. 96 years old, did not live very long after being moved there. It is sad how lonesome and forgotten she was!! Her greedy son never came to visit her, he only wanted to get the $$ from selling her home. So awful how we treat our elders these days ! Please try to keep your elders in their own home or make room for them to move in with family. Do not push them away to some unfamiliar, impersonal place where they will be lonely, forgotten ,very sad and just whither away and die. That day, I took my dear friend to a irestaurant in nearby Japantown. We had a wonderful, fun lunch. It was the last day I would ever see her again. We took this picture!!

My mom has lived at Golden Heritage for 2+ years ever since she broke her hip and some other issues which made living at home more difficult. I had looked at a number of possible assisted living facilities and Golden Heritage was my first choice. It is relatively close by to where I live, has an asian staff with many speaking mandarin, serves generally asian meals, and was lower cost than alternatives. I had also considered Aegis Gardens in Fremont, but it was further away and higher cost. The place is independently owned and run by a very nice family with experience in running health care facilities. I think I may have also preferred the non-corporate nature of the place. The facilities were converted from a hotel that I believe never opened as a hotel, so it doesnt look like a typical assisted living facility. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. It took a few months for my mom to adjust living there, but shes come to enjoy living there. My mom enjoys the activities including simple daily exercises, some crafts, weekly outings to pick up small groceries (like fruit for small fridge in room) and household items, and bingo. And, often on the weekends there are small performances by local groups like youth or senior church groups I think. There is free wifi and my mom regularly streams videos from her iPad which I understand is common.Having just broken her hip my mom started off in the assisted living floor of Golden Heritage, but a few months after transitioned to an independent living floor which helped keep the costs down. Despite being in independent living they do check in on her and have called me when they have noticed problems such as falls or strange behavior; we monitored more carefully and eventually had a medical issue taken care of. It definitely gives me piece of mind knowing that shes being watched over. All in all Im very satisfied with Golden Heritage. I think if youre looking into senior facilities for you elderly loved one you should definitely check out multiple places as they will each feel a little different to you. I wouldnt state that Golden Heritage is for everyone, but its been working very well for my mom.

Good place to take Seniors. They take good care of the Seniors.

My mother spent the last five years of her life here. She moved in requiring limited assistance and progressed to needing hospice care as her health and memory faded with age.Over this time period, I witnessed first hand how caring and competent all of the resident care staff were, not only how they treated my mother, but all of the other residents. The resident care staff is expertly managed by compassionate and highly experienced administrators, who always had the residents well-being foremost on their minds. It was such a relief for me knowing that mom was in such good hands day in and day out. I wholeheartedly recommend Golden Heritage to anyone who has a loved one in need of an assisted living facility.
