My friend was in Saratoga Retirement center and has since passed. Here are my thoughts: The best part of the tiered system is independent living. The opportunities to be social are pretty good. But even here there are caveats. The pool is beautiful but when she was there the water was too cold for seniors who need warmer water due to arthritis. She felt pressured to always have table companions by arranging this ahead of time. You can also sit at a table for those who didn't do this but if you want to eat alone it's discouraged. This might be fine for extroverts but not introverts. If you need to go into assisted living the costs increase quite a bit and the rooms are smaller. In addition, lots of things cost extra not just the general extra cost but a hefty fee for handling your medication etc. The last tier skilled nursing was not good at all. My friend had to keep ringing for help which was often not answered until an hour later. She felt disrespected and they kept sending her out of skilled nursing into the hospital as they lacked respiratory therapists. My friend was not a demanding person but she was quite unhappy. Lastly she wanted to die at home with hospice but they sent her to the hospital. The facility is lovely with beautiful grounds but they are trying to add more units and reduce the amount of park area and put a building in front of the beautiful landmark building which will be an eyesore. I don't recommend this place at all.

What a magical community to retire to.

My father had a rough summer, consisting of breaking his hip, followed by a hip surgery and 2 major back surgeries. When he arrived at the Saratoga Retirement Community Health Center, he was immobile and unable to care for himself. He began rehabilitation with their highly skilled, patient, caring, and motivating team of Physical and Occupational Therapists. Within a few short weeks, he was riding a stationary bike, walking, learning to dress himself, and much more. This outstanding team worked miracles and helped him regain his independence. He chose this facility for the reputation for rehab and it definitely paid off. Thank you Joyce, Fawn, and Lois! Although therapy was the focus of his stay here, we realize his improved health and strength involved much more than just therapy. He also needed good nutrition, a skilled nursing staff, proficient coordinators of his care, and much more. The food here is wonderful and the presentation is beautiful and very appetizing. You can get anything you want and their goal is to make sure you get the nutrition you need to get stronger, while also being happy. The nursing staff in the Health Building is absolutely amazing. They are the most caring, skilled, and gentle group of RNs, LVNs, and CNAs around. Their communication with each other was remarkable and everyone always knew what my dad needed. They were proactive, always followed through on things we discussed, and took amazing care of him. Everyone was so kind, respectful, and encouraging. They truly are a group of angels. The managers and staff in the other departments are incredible, too. Sandy does a fabulous job managing the entire facility, Rosalie is knowledgeable and was very helpful coordinating my dad's transition home, Janeth worked hard to coordinate services and make sure we felt heard, Daniela bent over backwards to make sure my dad had anything and everything he wanted to eat, and Kristina and Lorraine were always looking out for him and making sure he was happy. The facility and grounds are beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. We especially enjoyed our peaceful visits on the back deck, where there was plenty of comfortable seating and opportunities to watch the birds at the feeders, squirrels playing in the trees, and an occasional deer walking by. Inside, they offered lots of activities. Our favorite days were when they had live performers. My dad really enjoyed the talented jazz trio and the singers/pianists, who focused on songs from my dad's younger years. Having ice cream cones to enjoy during the shows was a nice touch. Inside his room, he had cable tv with the ability to record and pause his favorite programs, a nice, large bathroom, plenty of storage for his belongings, and the staff always made his bed when he wasn't in it, so it looked nice. If he wanted something changed in his room, like having the tv moved to a different location or adding a wall clock, they always made sure he had what he wanted and/or needed to be happy. Although all of the things I mentioned are important and greatly added to my dad's improvement and happiness, the thing I appreciated most is that I truly felt like I could trust everybody and know my dad would be safe in their care. After some very scary and upsetting experiences at a couple other organizations, I don't take this for granted. I was so grateful to find the Saratoga Retirement Community Health Center. Everyone we interacted with was conscientious, caring, thoughtful, and aware of his complicated needs. They really listened to us, provided excellent follow through with any concerns or suggestions we brought up, and treated our family with great kindness, love, and respect. This place is one of a kind. I can't emphasize enough how special the Saratoga Retirement Community is. If you have a loved one who needs physical rehabilitation, I don't think you could find a better place than this. It is a true gem.

SRC staff are caring, curious, and creative in their support to my Mother. I am confident she is well taken care of. I wish someone would plan out 4 fun activities for me every day! I could live in the puzzle library. The kitchen staff is patient and very accommodating. The front desk welcomes my visits with smiles. Rubina, Dawn, and Laura are spectacular in their kindness and knowledge. The facility is very clean, the grounds are also nice. Nested near the hills, there are some lovely views. Transitions for seniors can be rough terrain and SRC is very skilled at helping us navigate smooth passage. Thanks SRC!

Hi, Saratoga Retirement Community has lovely resident's and very hard working people too. At one point it was a second home for a lot of us, then everything got out of control. It just to be a good place to work, and I'm sorry to don't agree with does 5 stars persons. I worked there for 15 1/2 years and witness a lot of descrimination with the employee's, I also witness a lot of times the Dining Room Manager Ludmila Filina been rude with employee's and the worse part is with resident's too, she yield at them and treat with no respect, she is not a loud in the residents committee meetings for for many years for been disrespectful with them. After reporting that with a few directors, HR and administrator no one did anything about it. I just wished all does resident's and employee's luck and hopefully one day they can be treat with respect and they can stand for there selfs. Hopefully Chef Paulo change his mind and stay there at SRC so he can keep spoiling the resident's and looking after the kitchen employee's. And lastly they didn't give me my belongings, they kept my valuable items and send me only few items, also Sarah Steel leave me with out my final check when I requested right away, it took me almost 2 weeks for me to get pay. Let's pray for the better days at SRC, like old days. SRC still have some good staff with good feelings like Sangeetha in HHC and her crew, Bettylou, and few more so I give to them and the Resident's Thank you

My Mom was there for over 2 1/2 years. She got excellent care which increased as her health needs increased. I would recommend this community in a heartbeat!
