My mom lived at Canterbury Gardens Memory care over 5 years and during that time we came to see her caretakers as part of our family. We owned a hospice in Dallas and therefore felt we had a working knowledge of dementia patients. We were wrong. Countless times we were rescued when I couldnt direct my sweet mom from point A to point B .One notable instance : when I had a glazed look from trying to reason with Mom, (NEVER a smart solution with dementia patients) Becky saw my distress and rallied the troops. Within seconds, the angels swooped in and very calmly and sweetly talked her through the right door. I stood amazed. Theirs is a ministry more than a job... requiring highly developed people skills, education, patience, team work. And big hearts. Its been less than 2 months but I miss (nurse) Loris compassion and skill. (Nurse) Susans down to earth common sense and counsel. (Nurse) Lynns good humor and character--she once returned a piece of jewelry to me that mom had discarded. Gretchens organizational skills ( and effort to keep us connected during this season of covid 19) and her hugs. Karris warmth and ability to be in several places at once. Aprils ready smile and capable management skills. Julies overseeing everyone and everything in detail and going MANY extra miles for us all. And although I dont know every name of the nurses and especially the aides , who have seen to Moms daily care-- the heavy , necessary, and thankless duty that requires a stamina and gentleness I cant begin to grasp... THANK YOU!!! For doing the heavy lifting so that I can breeze in to take my mom out for a milkshake and look like a hero. YOU are the heroes...and heroes long before Covid 19 showed up.

My family and I have been extremely impressed with Canterbury Gardens. The facility itself is inviting, clean and comfortable. The staff are incredibly caring, compassionate, professional and attentive. They communicate well with family and are very responsive to questions and suggestions. A wide variety of activities are offered to the residents and the meals are tasty and nutritious. We feel confident that our loved one is in good hands.

Nice, elegant, cozy, comforting place. Lots of help4 our elders. Came w-a friend to visit Marie...what a blessing to see, visit n learn of this facility. Spacious dining areas, tv rooms n bedrooms. Marie was having her hair done at the beauty shop. Patio is spacious w-chairstables. Laundry room, activity center, menu posted along w-items-treasures fm. the past to admirecherish.

When my mother began to need more care than an ordinary assisted living facility could provide, we spent a great amount of time and effort touring and comparing the options available for her between the Portland - Vancouver metropolitain area and the north Oregon coast. As we did, we found ourselves increasingly comparing the most recent one we had toured to what we had already seen at Canturbury Gardens. In the end, we moved her there and it proved to be the best decision we could have made. The facility is lovely, with every thought given to making the resistents feel at home. Everything is always tidy and well maintained. The staff is caring and attentive while also being professional and extremely well organized. From begining to end, Canturbery Gardens is the place to choose when it comes to selecting a memory care facility for a loved one.
