The Sequoia Assisted Living Community is excellent! They truly care about their residents and have many excellent caregivers, executive and admin staff. It's clean and welcoming, and they're great at putting on family/holiday gatherings and bringing in a variety of local entertainers and music each month. They did their best all through the COVID-19 pandemic — took it seriously and tried to keep our family members as safe as possible. I very sincerely recommend The Sequoia!

The Sequoia is a great place for our (your) loved one. There are many outstanding medical technicians / caregivers / housekeepers such as Michael, Briley, Angi, DeAnna, and Tosha (I know I'm forgetting many, but thank you to everyone!). The dining room staff is equally wonderful. My grandma loves them all for their thoughtfulness, kindness, and professionalism! 🙂

I am the director of dining services I have been here over 3 years I have an excellent reputation in the senior living of taking a lot of pride in what we serve our residents, my team works very hard to put great fresh food on the table for our residents. Our breakfast menu has two specials every morning as well as ala cart items eggs to order, omelets, hash browns, toast, sausage, bacon, ham, french toast, pancakes, oatmeal, our lunch and dinners features several specials per meal as well an anytime menu of Deli sandwiches, Blt, hot dog, cheeseburger, fresh green and specialty salad , I cheese, fresh cut fruit, soup from scratch of the day, chef salad, pasta of the week. As for our Executive Director she is top of the line, cares about our residents and staff and works long hours to support every department and every resident! Schedule a lunch tour and come see for yourself what we are all about!

I had to move my mother into assisted living and had a short period of time to get it done. We visited Sequoia and were immediately welcomed, luckily an apartment was available and we were able to secure it. The staff is amazing and so helpful. The caregivers are amazing and really interact with the residents. My mom was a little scared at first but after only two weeks of residency there she is joyful. She feels safe and knows that she is able to get assistance with anything she might need. This has been a huge relief for me and allowed me to be able to not worry about my mom. The food is amazing, they provide laundry services and have a pharmacy which makes medical care so easy. I highly recommend Sequoia.

I was a sit in community outreach director for 2 months while The Sequoia was interviewing prospects for the position. My experience was better than I could have ever expected. The support and leadership of the management team is fantastic. When you have good leadership you have happy employees and when the employees are happy the residents daily experience greatly improves. The executive director Carolyn is the most dedicated person in that building. As an employee when your leader is that dedicated it flows through the staff. She genuinely cares about every resident and employee in that community. If you are considering assisted living for your loved one make sure you tour The Sequoia, it will impress you. It wins awards for a reason.

Toured the Sequoia on Friday and was blown away by how ambient is the feel of the place. Spacious, very calm, with lots of sunlight, outdoor patios and balconies. Sequoia's renovated interior looks elegant and tasteful to the last detail. You feel as if you are at the retreat. Impressive choice of things to do dazzled me with a cooking master class! Yes, I am a foodie, and this along would be a deciding factor for me. What's more engaging then learning from a head chef with over 30 years of restaurant experience! it is like being on the Food channel in person! Wow! the staff is so collaborative and helpful, yes, Sequoia is a place to be!

My parents moved in shortly before the pandemic shut-down. It's been a terrible year for residents being locked in an eating in rooms and my dad died mid-year leaving my mom alone. I've had a lot of conversations with many staff at Sequoia. They have all always been responsive. Sometimes we have to come up with creative solutions and they always work with us on this. We've had really positive experiences with the director of wellness (Karie), resident care coordinator (Pam) to help us plan and adjust and readjust according to my mom's needs. Mostly, they are caring, take time to talk with me, and express care for the residents. The director (Carolyn) has also made time for us when we've needed it. Terrilynn, the activities director is fantastic. She is kind, enthusiastic, empathic. She is thoughtful and responsive and insanely patient. She offers something for everyone. My dad liked the morning physical exercises and interactive "table talk" events. My mom likes Bingo of which there is plenty to go around. Lastly, the everyday staff who are in and out of the rooms daily are great. It's not easy work. They are kind to my mom and eternally patient when she hits the "call" button but then forgets why. Having a call button, I should add, is a godsend. My only real complaint is pandemic-related and I suspect more about the owners than the staff. It has been WAY too long to isolate residents, making them eat all meals alone in their rooms for over a year, and not allowing family to come inside (now one person for one hr). While I appreciate the need to keep everyone safe, they need and deserve more than that. Their ability to see family and connect, to experience touch and conversation and love is critical. If I want to take my mom out to a private residence for a day in which 100% of us are fully vaccinated, she is required to be quarantined for another 2 weeks, something she will experience as punishment - to what end? Nearly all the residents and staff are vaccinated as will be her family. This is better protection than we can expect to have anywhere in the U.S., ever. So I sadly don't see a way out of that very strict and isolating policy. Importantly, this is a complaint regarding the company's policies rather than the staff who work daily. The directors and other staff are clearly caring and dedicated.

The Sequoia was the perfect situation for my parents when it was necessary for them too move to assisted living, well into their 80s. They received attentive care, yet privacy and decision-making autonomy. Really good food with delightful table mates. The common areas at the facility were always very clean, tidy, and fresh smelling. Our parents were both accomplished gardeners and were encouraged to use the greenhouse as much as they wanted, and they did! They grew flowers and vegetables in the gardens and pots throughout the grounds, especially the courtyard. Mother, Jessie, especially enjoyed the bus rides to see the autumn colors. Medical support brought us all relief, as we knew their needs were being met. The staff was completely outstanding, and I can't praise them enough! In the final days for each of our parents, the nursing staff was tender, thorough, quietly competent in every effort. And they showed tremendous concern for us family members who were there as my parents each passed. It was an extraordinary, peaceful, even joyful time to have our parents receive such great care at the end of their very long lives. Beth Somerton Young

I feel very fortunate to work for such a supportive and safety conscious company. To say this has been a challenging year for residents, families, and staff would be an understatement. I give five stars to my management and ownership for making sure we have the information, policies, and practical tools we need to keep our residents safe and well cared for during this pandemic.

My mother is here. Apartments do not have individual heat/cool control so rooms on upper floor are too hot in summer. Families are required to provide cooling. Suggest selecting a facility with updated apartments. As with all facilities, staff is in constant turnover.

Loving and caring staff makes up for minor issues. Residents have a life and are not just being housed. The staff, especially the CNAs and med techs, helped our family so much through our darkest hours. They worked with hospice and supported the family with grace and love. I can never thank them enough.
