Mother-in-law looked at all retirement community options in Olympia/Lacey 6 years ago and picked The Firs based on the friendly staff, comfortable rooms and great common areas. She's just as pleased with her decision today as the day she moved in.

The Firs is a fabulous place. The facility is nice and clean, staff is fantastic and the location is great. Close to Kaiser Permanent, St. Peter's hospital and other medical professional buildings. Additionally, the Chehalis Western Trail is at the back of the building, a 22 mile scenic multi-use trail that is wonderful. My mom is very happy here and it was a wonderful choice.

Three months ago I moved from San Diego, CA into the FIRS sight unseen. Each apartment is beautifully appointed to create a private, serene space. The activities are stimulating and intellectually exciting, featuring curated TED talks, and Armchair travel, inspiring lively discussions at dinner. An enthusiastic young staff of college students greets you for each meal. Adjacent to the beautiful Chehalis Western trail is a stunning walk in the woods. The Firs is a community of compassionate residents who enjoy Growing Wiser together. The FIRS is the best place to live in Olympia, WA.

I took my parents on a tour yesterday and it was very clean there. I liked the decor, lots of windows, great looking calendar of events, excellent bus service. Its the right price range too. My parents want to move forward on getting a place there. Oh ya, they fed is lunch while we were there and it was good and I thought the menu and flexibility was great, they operate it like a restaurant so you can eat anytime during open hours. If youre looking at places as a senior I would tour The Firs for sure. Good luck!

The Firs has all the amenities that you could ask for but the biggest thing that sets The Firs apart from the others is the respect shown, friendliness and the communication from the staff to each one of us. Especially all of our young folks that work in the dining room they are absolutely amazing. Another thing that is unique to The Firs is that it is located in the heart beat of Olympia and next to all of the services a senior could ask for such as all of our doctors, the hospital, and the pharmacy. I love to walk and it is just a minute and a half to walk to my doctors office. Speaking of loving to walk, The Firs graciously granted the city the right to build an Emergency Access to the Chehalis Western Trail so not only our they serving the community at large but it makes for a great walk to take with my wife. In our time here we have seen that the ownership MBK Senior Living is very responsive to our needs. The leadership team at The Firs is excellent and sets the example of leadership.

My mother and I visited The Firs along with 5 other communities. Shes not ready to move in yet but when she does, we both agree The Firs is the best location hands down. Its next door to her healthcare provider. It has the largest library, by far, of any competitor. Its managed by a Japanese company that trains the staff in how best to honor the elderly...and it really shows. The icing on the cake was that of the 6 places we visited, this is the only one where anyone came up to us, introduced than selves, welcomed us, and spieled the praises of why this place rocks...3 different people did that in our 60 minute visit.

I recent lost my Father in Law who was a resident of The Firs since 2014,(his second time staying there). He loved this place. I visited him quite often and found the facility to be top notch. Clean, organized, food was great, but most of all it was the people working there. Friendly, attentive staff was always there to help. They treated Stick with compassionate respect, and in his latest bout of illness went above and beyond to look after him to the extent that they could. From the bottom of my heart I truly thank all of you for your kindness and caring. I highly recommend The Firs for your residential needs.

I have been trying to find the care my mother-in-law needs and have been overwhelmed with her declining health and low income status. I emailed The Firs and Marilyn Richards went above and beyond the call of duty to teach me some starting places to pull the resources together to meet my relatives needs. She was informed, detailed, and specific and now I am confident we can move forward on providing the best living situation and pulling together the resources to pay for it. Thanks for caring!

It was my first job here everyone is so nice and supporting . it is a best place to work and live . they take care of their residents and staff very well . Such a wonderful helping staff . Residents are very good and lovable.they treat each other so nicely .Building is all neat and clean . Good facilities provided to seniors . i would definitely recommend this place for seniors to live and others to work .Thanks for wonderful 10 months 🙂

I just need to say this and let everyone know. My daughter Kimberley looked at all the local communities and The Firs always came out on top in every way. I thoroughly enjoy the activities like Ted Talks, Musical Performers, and the monthly committees like Food Talk, Maintenance Talk and Chat with Max. All three maintenance men are amazing and get whatever I need done so quickly. The hair dresser is great and is so convenient just down the hallway from my apartment. All of the people here are wonderful, everyone has a smile and are always so positive and happy. They always listen to me with such compassion and somehow they always remember my name. I feel like I belong and truly feel that The Firs is my home. In times when I lost loved ones, the shoulder to cry on and comfort given to me by the staff was wonderful and I am so grateful to all of them. Its been one wonderful year and counting and I think The Firs would be the right choice for anyone that is looking for a place to live.

The number one thing I could say about The Firs is it feels like home. My Doctor recommended The Firs as one of the places his patients said was the place to live and I have been so pleased I went with his recommendation. The food is great, we are blessed to have Gordon our Chef, the servers are so good and the entire staff our just super. I truly feel supported here at The Firs. Activities is boundless there is something for everyone and you can choose what you want to do. The Firs having an extremely low employee turnover and the highest employee satisfaction speaks volumes about the communities leadership and MBK as a whole.

My parents have been here almost 2 years and they love it. The staff is very nice and caring. My parents love the food. They offer frequent transportation for their residents. The apartments are newly updated. I highly recommend this place.

I am a resident of The Firs and I must say the people at The Firs are absolutely wonderful. The dining staff are always great. Each one of the staff go above and beyond their responsibilities every single day. They do all they can to make you feel at home from your very first day and every day after that just gets better and better. Everyone at The Firs is there for you in hard times to support you not only with great food and a beautiful place to live but they really care about you and do their best to support you emotionally every day. The activities are wonderful too and they always listen to new ideas and are willing to try them out.

The Firs is incredibly warm feeling, my family and I looked at two or three other communities and it just felt cold, the atmosphere did not feel like home, then we walked into the Firs and it immediately felt like home. The dining room I instantly fell in love with it. My apartment is such a great place and affordable. The residents and staff immediately made me feel at home. The number one thing I can say is I feel so safe here with the residents and staff their sincerity is felt, we truly are a family. The single most important thing that sets The Firs apart from everywhere else I looked at is the people. This is just what I needed after my husband passed. The quality of the food is great and when there is something I do not want they have a list of alternate items to choose from. I could not ask for anything more. I would recommend anyone to choose the Firs as their next place to live. This has been my wonderful home for four years going on five years now.

What stands out most to me is the caring staff. I would single out one to praise but it is too difficult to do so, because every single one of the staff is so wonderful. The young folks in the dining room bring a tear to my eye because they are so good to me and my guests. The building and services are amazing, however it is the staff that make The Firs special.

I took a tour of The Firs with Marilyn a few days ago and was very impressed with how beautiful this community is! The staff was extremely friendly, caring, and compassionate. The residents were great too! I would highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a wonderful place to live.

This place is awesome! The staff is friendly, they are happy to help, the food is delicious! (They hired a chef approximately 7 months ago - his menus are great) The staff know the tenants by name. The apartments are spacious. There is a walking path behind the building that is paved and well maintained. The building is secure. The complex is two blocks away from a large medical facility. This is a wonderful assisted living facility.

Since a relative of mine moved in to the Firs a year ago, Ive been impressed by the staffs effort to know every single resident by name. The food in the dining room can be inconsistent, but is often excellent. Shuttle service is available for shopping and medical appointments. Housekeeping is a great help, even if it isnt up to hotel standards. Overall I warmly recommend the facility to other families!

Ive been a resident of The Firs since March 2016. I came from a senior residence in Sacramento, CA which was a bit of heaven. I didnt expect to find anything comparable. Prior to my Sacramento experience, I began communicating with The Firs, knowing that Id be moving to WA within 4-5 years. I joined their mailing list and kept in touch. When I actually moved to Oly, I took advantage of a 3-month-free-rent offer of a new senior residence needing some warm bodies to enhance their recruitment. After two years, and visiting numerous full-service senior apartments, I did decide on The Firs. Id spent over 5 years living in, and visiting, senior apartments, and The Firs was still the best choice. The ambiance of the building, and especially the manicured grounds, all under a forest of 60-ft+ evergreens, is like living in a tree house. I awake to the sun shining through branches, with birds and squirrels adding to the ambiance. Excellent food, too, which is one of the most important features; should have spent more time on that, but excellent should suffice.

I met both Maureen and Zach who are employees at the Firs MBK Senior Living Community and I am impressed with their friendly personality. The amount of activities that the Firs schedule on monthly basics is outstanding and I would have never thought that an independent living facility would have so many things to do. The staff was welcoming and I enjoyed the tour because everyone I met was warm and nice. The facility is clean, is in a convenient location and the community as a whole is awesome. They even have a Beauty, Barber shop on site for the residents. I encourage you to check them out.

My mother has lived for the past three years at the The Firs. It has been a wonderful place for her. The facility is warm and pleasant, and the staff works hard to keep each resident safe, comfortable and happy, while providing excellent meals and opportunities for pleasure and enrichment. I am confident that she is in the right place for her at this time in her life.
