I don't normally write reviews but Rock Creek deserves the effort. My wife suffers from Alzheimer's and taking care of her at home became too much. I could not get her to bathe or change clothes. All that changed the first night she was at Rock Creek. She now showers twice a week, puts on clean clothes daily and looks much better than she did when she was at home. The staff at Rock Creek is very caring, I am amazed every time I visit how gentle and supportive they are of the residents. I am very happy with my choice of Rock Creek and never once wondered if she is the "right" place.

I went to tour this community and it is so nice and beautiful. The staff are so kind. The marketer was very knowledgeable, helpful. The executive director seems to run the building with grace. I highly reccomend Rock Creek.

Our loved one has been a resident at Rock Creek Memory Care Community for 2 years. We have been pleased with his care during this time & have found the entire staff dedicated to providing the best possible care, safe environment, activities, & response to not only our loved one's needs but also to our family. The picture shows what an awesome job everyone on the staff did yesterday to celebrate Father's Day with a special luncheon for residents & their families.

My father was a resident of Rock Creek for a bit over a year. Although we parted ways under less than desirable circumstances, I think it's only fair to honor Rock Creek's many positive points. I would offer more stars if it weren't for the negative scenario we encountered at the end of my father's residency. Rock Creek is very clean and spacious and there are lots of activities to keep the residents engaged. The facility is decorated with lots of memorabilia and nostalgic music is regularly played in the common areas. This was something that helped my father feel comfortable in the beginning, especially since his attention and memory span seemed to be stuck in the 1970's. During visits my dad would routinely show us the memorabilia with pride as though it were his own personal collection. When he got to the point that he was no longer ambulatory things kind of went downhill. My father received excellent care while he was in hospice (two times) and fair care the rest of the time. As a former police officer my father was trained in self defense and always very alert of other residents, which caused lots of friction with the staff. Shane had issues with my father and had expressed his fear of my dad on more than one occasion, which I think truly harmed the level of care my dad was given. Rock Creek sent my father to behavioral health due to his sundowner outbursts and behaviors (understandably so), but this also become a point of contention with Shane and the Executive Director. Once my father received the proper medications, he seemed to calm down, but other residents would frequently have outbursts that were never addressed by Rock Creek. In order to maintain residency, we were required to sit with my dad from the time he woke up to the time he went to sleep. We heard and saw a lot of the darker side of Rock Creek during those long stays. One resident in particular had the habit of smacking staff and other residents, and he was never sent out for care nor was his family required to sit with him and monitor his behaviors like we were. When I raised this issue with the Executive Director, we were effectively told it was not our business to comment on that. I disagree since we bore the burden of my father's hospital visits and had to fight with Medicare to pay for everything. If the other resident had been treated equally this would be a non-issue. We were also charged extra for adult diapers, wipes, and gloves because my dad supposedly used too many. However, during our visits and babysitting we never saw my father changed or cleaned up. We had to ask to have him changed otherwise he would sit in his own mess despite being assured that changings would take place every couple of hours. My father ended up developing sepsis, a UTI, and his kidneys were failing due to the lack of care. We were regularly told that we were not allowed to visit without an appointment (after we got through the babysitting phase), which is not documented in any of the agreements we signed and during those times we were always told my father was in good health. Right before my father went to the hospital for septic shock, extreme dehydration, and renal failure, we were told my father was doing great. The next morning, he was sent to the hospital and nearly died. The attending physicians told us not to return my father there due to extreme neglect. His condition would have been extremely poor during the times we were told he was doing great. When I confronted the Executive Director, Stephanie, about this, I was told that my dad just 'seemed different'. No documentation existed to explain the large, infected gash on his arm (which also would have been present for a good length of time) nor his condition leading up to his hospitalization. You should see the photos of him when he got to the hospital. Even a blind person could have seen the severity of his condition.

Rock Creek is simply an amazing place to help the patients and the families of those affected with the Alzheimer's. From morning until night the staff is so living and attentive to the residence. There are activities scheduled for everyday. The medical team is very competent and communicates very well. You will not find a cleaner facility that has an amazing management team and support staff.

Providing care for those with memory issues is difficult. Rock Creek in Surprise makes that difficulty easier. My father had a traumatic brain injury while at work and fully dependent on others for his care. He lived at 3 facilities prior to coming to Rock Creek and Rock Creek is by far the best facility of them all. All of the employees show love and support and it is truly amazing. The facilities previous to Rock Creek left my father in the room all the time. Rock Creek brings him out for meals and other social events to associate with the other residents, which I believe has helped him to become happier and less lonely. I have also seem improvements in his condition, not previous seen before at the other care facilities. All of the staff is great, however, I must commend Genesis for her incredible customer service. She is always such a joy to speak with and is always upbeat and happy. Thanks for being awesome and always heping, Genesis!

We recommend Rock Creek Memory Care Center with all of our hearts. My dad was in residence at Rock Creek memory care facility and we have nothing but gratitude for all of the staff at Rock Creek for taking the best care possible of him for his last 5 months of his life. My family and I cannot say enough about the professional, thorough, empathetic and loving care that my dad, Jim, received at Rock Creek. We know that a major part of this success and positivity is because of the incredible administration staff, the careful hiring practices, the training, the respect shown by all, the longevity of service of each employee, and the knowledge of those who work there. Rock Creek guided Jim and our family through a painful and extremely difficult time in our lives and all of the staff will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I recently placed my 87 year old father who suffered from dementia in Rock Creek. They were compassionate and caring to both my dad and my mom and I. Anytime we called to check on him the nurses spent a lot of time talking with us. Sadly, my dad passed away last week. The staff at Rock Creek was there to offer their support during a very difficult time for us. They are caring professionals who take great pride in what they do. I feel that what they do is more a calling than a job. God bless them all.

Based on my knowledge of friends and family who have had various memory care experiences, I cant imagine a better place to have a loved one in memory care than Rock Creek. The staff works extremely hard as a team, with respect and love and care with their residents and the families. My father was there for 9 months. When he arrived at RC after a fall and rehab he could not eat or communicate well. He improved so much he could eat solids with an assist, participate in activities and be relaxed and comfortable. The facility is clean, smells good and is spacious which allows family and friends to be there comfortably with their loved ones. One of my favorite things was other family members learn to care and look out for each other and provide a great support group for each other. Realizing caring for memory care patients and the expectations of family members dont always match up - Rock Creek works hard to facilitate communication and information to guide us. THANK YOU Rock Creek for loving, caring and respecting our loved one and each of us.

Ive known a couple of people who lived here. One was here for a couple of years and he, overall, did great here. It is a nice facility with a lot of amenities. The other person ... wasnt here for very long. He had more issues than they could deal with. No place is for everyone. There are no miracles.

The best ever team of caring individuals I have ever met in one place. The facility is beautiful and ALWAYS clean. I had my dad at Rock Creek for 2 1-2 years. And although the facility is over an hour away I could not find another facility that I felt would take as good of care of my dad as Rock Creek did. It takes a very special kind of person to work in an environment such as Rock Creek and they have really put together an amazing team. I wish them all the best and thank them from the bottom of my heart for the true caring and respect they showed to my dad. THANK YOU TEAM ROCK CREEK!!!!!
