My mother was a resident at Brookdale Mandarin Central for just over one year. She had dementia and needed help with medications. The place was okay most everyone was friendly but the issue that I had was that the AC in her room never functioned properly did not really put out cold air. Did complain about it they never really fixed the issue. Also the water in her kitchen area was a big problem as well that was never really fixed either. Other issues that I had was that they required us to provided them with gift cards for her to go on the bus for outings. They said it was for when they went to eat that they would use the gift card to pay, well that was not true as they did not take her out to eat for lunch and if they did she paid on her own Credit card. She did go the library and out for shopping and I think that they charged her for the bus rides! So, just to let everyone know be prepared for them to ask you to purchase gift cards for your love ones and make sure it goes to where they say as I did not see that. Other things is with dementia they lose their appetite as they start to lose weight. I think that they need to be more aware of the eating habits of their residents and follow up with family! They did not do this and she passed away just recently from not eating. I think if they would have informed us could have gotten her some appetite stimulant and she might have lived a little longer.

When my mom was diagnosed with Dementia we struggled for almost a year to care for her ourselves. We were failing and mom’s health was steadily declining. After my mom was diagnosed with early stage dementia, we had to make some very quick decisions regarding placement. While you always tend to second-guess your decision, I now know in my heart that we made the best decision by placing my mom at Brookdale Mandarin Central. The facility itself feels warm and has a very home-like feeling that, I think, gives residents a feeling of security. But the best thing about Brookdale Mandarin Central is the people that work there. They approach their jobs with a cheerfulness and warm heart that is not easy to fake. Dealing with dementia patients is not easy and it's definitely not for everyone. I am truly grateful that we found this facility. My mom has been living at Brookdale Mandarin Central for about 2 1/2 years now and I still can't say enough good things about the care she receives. The employees are all extremely empathetic and compassionate and I am still very grateful that there are people in this world willing to work with patients that can be somewhat challenging at times. Caring for a loved one with dementia at home can be extremely difficult. If you're at your wits' end and don't know what to do, Brookdale Mandarin Central may be exactly the respite you're seeking!

I have looked into moving my Mom to Michigan and there is no facility that can duplicate the quality of care that she receives. Brookdale Mandarin Central is a great place for a loved one who requires memory care. It was an easy transition for my 92-year-old Mom who had spent all of her life in NYC. The caregivers at Brookdale are very knowledgeable, supportive, and caring. Brookdale offers a wide range of activities, such as exercising, gardening, arts and crafts, cooking, pet therapy, and "flex-your-brain" word games and puzzles, which keep the residents engaged and entertained. In addition, there are frequent outings to local parks, restaurants, and retail stores. The meals are wholesome and quite appealing. My Mom's room and the facility itself are both clean and visually uplifting. The courtyard provides sun and fresh air in a safe enclosed area. The facility is also pet-friendly, and our dog is allowed to visit. Brookdale's recent Mother's Day brunch was spectacular. Beautifully framed photos of each resident were given to the families to keep.

We wanted to let other people know we really are happy with Brookdale Mandarin Central. Our Mom has been there for just under a year and we feel blessed to find such a wonderful facility. The staff is responsive and caring. Katrina runs the facility and finds very caring people to work with the residents. The food is hot and is very good, our Mom loves the meals. They have kept us informed on any issues that might occur such as Covid and Flu clinics within the facility. The entire process can be really difficult for families. Putting your loved ones in a facility you can trust is scary. Our family feels she is safe and well cared for. When we ask Mom how things are she always says the staff is very kind. They held a Mothers Day event recently for residents and families which was greatly appreciated. Nothing will ever replace the home she came from ,but this facility has made the transition work for our Mother. The best thing is that they are receptive to any concerns and work with us promptly. They were the correct fit for us. They have a wonderful person named Ray who worked with our Mom to make her feel at home upon arrival and continues to have her engage in activities. We feel lucky to have our family member in this caring facility.

My family feels very fortunate to have found Memory Care at Brookdale Mandarin Central for our Mother. As our Mother's Alzheimers disease progressed we found we no longer knew how to help her cope with the mental and physical changes she was experiencing. Fortunately for us, the staff at Brookdale Mandaron Central has specialized training in caring for memory loss residents, above and beyond what is provided in an Assisted Living Facility. Our Mother has been a resident for almost a year. We have been impressed with the improvement in her attitude and general well being. We no longer worry she is skipping meals or medication or cleaning or hygiene, as she was when she lived alone. Katrina, Ray and Pedro are just a few of the extra special people available to her, and us, for help, questions or concerns. It is small enough facility to have a family feel...this is not a high rise with hundreds of residents where the staff doesn't know your name. The facility and grounds are clean and well maintained. There are appropriate daily activities and fun events, and the food is really good!

My mother has been a resident at Brookdale Mandarin Central for two and a half years . I am delighted with the care that she receives there. Katrina Williams , the Executive Director is a very compassionate, caring and very skilled administrator. All of the staff that I have met are patient and caring . This is another testimonial to Katrina’s abilities. My mother really likes the food there which is so important . We visited all of the memory care centers in Jacksonville and Brookdale was a clear standout . We are very happy with our choice of Brookdale .

The ED is amazing, activities are always going on-they are engaging, purposeful and person centered, dining services-always multiple choices available and the chef can cook! Clinical services is on point and I would 100% feel confident with my loved one living there!
