We placed our mom in Highgate of Yakima a few weeks ago, wow she is thriving with the change. Staff is helping mom to and from different activities, what a blessing for our family knowing that we can relax knowing they are taking care of our mom 24/7. Thank you to all staff and administrators for making our mom's life better every single day.

When we visit our mother at Highgate, she is often listening to musicians, playing a game, or catching up on current events with Amanda, Sarah, or Adrienne, activities' directors. They make sure there's a good variety of things going on throughout the week. Care partners such as Lisa respond quickly to call buttons and consistently maintain upbeat, kind attitudes. The facility provides excellent medical care and varied, healthy meals. We're grateful our mother is happy and well-cared for at Highgate.

My mom lived at Highgate Cottage for two years. Becky was one of her primary caregivers. She was kind, loving and gave my mother the best care until the final day. Becky was more than just a caregiver for my mother but a friend and support to myself and family.

Highgate Senior Living has been a blessing for our family, we have so much gratitude for finding this wonderful place. Our loved one was at a care facility in another state and was not having a good experience. Coming to Highgate was transformative for them, and they are now thriving due to the excellent care provided by a kind and reliable staff. The amount of thought and planning that goes into resident care is unmatched in our experience. Not only are the CNAs absolute ANGELS on earth, we have found that every staff member at Highgate is pleasant to interact with and always greets residents and their families in most pleasant and familiar ways, it means the absolute world to our family member to be treated so lovingly. Every interaction we have had with the facility's team leadership is professional, aimed at responsiveness, and driven by resident and family satisfaction. We have never had any concern go unaddressed. The residents at Highgate are very friendly and welcoming, and the activities staff works very hard to make sure their programs are wonderful and fun. Our family member says that they are experiencing more friendship and fun than they have ever before! The facility is impeccably maintained, and the grounds always look incredible and inviting. The maintenance staff is so helpful and works very hard to ensure a beautiful living environment for the residents. The housekeeping staff is top-notch, our loved one's room is always carefully cleaned and laundry is well done. The facility always smells amazing, the staff goes to great lengths to ensure that the environment is fully 5-star. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful and has assisted us with everything from coordinating visitors' meals to planning a birthday event. Our loved one reports that they really like the food and choices provided for dining, and we have been consistently impressed by the hardworking staff that makes these dining experiences so positive. We love the common seating areas scattered throughout the building, they are beautifully appointed and have nice amenities like snacks and games, it is a lovely place for hosting guests and visitors. TLDR, we have found Highgate to have a small, home-like environment where all residents are greeted by name and treated like family.

My husband and I recently attended a workshop on how to navigate the world of dementia. Mandy Ketcham presented information at an appropriate level for families to understand. She is a wealth of knowledge and genuinely cares for those in need of assistance.

I recently attended the "Positive Approach to Care" training facilitated by Mandy Ketchum. The knowledge that I gained has answered many questions that I've had since my father-in-law (now deceased) was a dementia patient for several years. My mother is now a resident at Highgate Senior Living. We absolutely love the facility and all the dedicated staff that cares for her. After attending Mandy's training, I am much more prepared on how to gracefully approach the changes that my mom will be going through in the future. Thank you, Mandy, for the excellent training!

Demystifying Dementia Dementia in all probability will present its self in most families. There are more than 100 different types of dementia. My family is supporting a dementia patient. It has been one of the most emotional absorbing situations we have faced. It can last for years as it progresses. Communication and education can change attitudes. The presentation at the Demystifying Dementia is an experience in communication and education of dementia. The session broadened my understanding of dementia and provided me with an appreciative attitude of the complexity of supporting a dementia family member. The Highgate Senior Living Center whom presented Demystifying Dementia with spokeswoman Mandy Ketcham was incredible. Not only was this presentation available, Highgate also provides two dementia support groups; Family Dementia Support and Family Member accompanied with Dementia patient support group.

My parents moved into Highgate last August, and have been living happily ever after since then. They love their room, the facility, and especially the friendly care team members that treat them with respect and positive spirits every day. I am so happy our community has Highgate as a wonderful option for quality senior living. I've also benefited from participating in educational workshops sponsored by Highgate that are free to the community. Mandy, the facilitator and trainer, is a pro at engaging her participants and helping us all understand important concepts in dealing with friends or family with dementia. So thankful for her contributions and for Highgate!

Our family has had a remarkable experience at Highgate Yakima. A recent example is our work with Holly who was so compassionate to us. Due to our family experiencing multiple viruses we were not able to see our family member who is a resident. We were burdened with guilt. We reached out and received such great support and advise from Holly. She was able to help reframe the situation, reassure us and inspire us. And we were offered alternatives to in person visits and full report about how our family member was doing. So kind, professional, compassionate and thoughtful. Thank you.

I recently spent the day at Highgate offering photo sessions for residents during their Father's Day event and you can tell it's a top notch facility. The residents are happy and engaged. The families are excited to visit with their loved ones and the staff is more than accommodating. The environment that Highgate provides is phenomenal. Mandy is the highlight of the operation. You can tell how much she truly cares about her residents and the families she serves. If you are looking for a place for your loved one where they will be the top priority then look no further.

After one year at a high-priced, large corporation, facility in Issaquah, I am so thankful I was able to move my mom into Highgate! Just because a facility is new and expensive, it doesn't guarantee good quality of care. The staff at Highgate have been so organized and helpful. The atmosphere is pleasant and calm and since it is a smaller facility, there is a feeling of family. I'm looking forward to a more positive and less stressful experience with Highgate!

Little over 3 weeks ago, we had to make the tough decision to move mom into Memory Care, as mom's dementia was progressing. We had, thank goodness, been proactive prior to making this decision by touring different Memory Care options in the Yakima area should mom progress. As we got to know our different options and because of a recommendation from a caregiver we had at the time for mom, we decided to put Highgate into the knowledge bucket and add it to the list.... and boy are we thankful we did! To be honest, my husband and I were expecting Highgate to have a big chain feel. But from the moment we walked into the lobby, we found anything but that. The warm receptionist who greeted us, the beautiful lobby which invited you in to sit and meet your loved one, to how much it felt like home and how we could immediately see our mom living there. Highgate knocked us off our feet. We had the privilege of touring Highgate's Memory Care community with Mandy Ketcham, the Community Relations Coordinator at Highgate. Mandy's depth of expertise in dementia was so impressive but it was her genuine warmth and love of what she does and those she works with that stood out to us. It was evident she truly loves what she does as well as everyone else we met that day while touring. We left with no doubt in our minds Highgate was our number one choice and best fit for mom for the quality care and life we continued to want for her. Well little did we know that we would be in that need sooner rather than later and that we knew what the best choice and fit for mom was and our family. Highgate was there for us from the beginning, from Mandy guiding us through the transition of mom moving in, coaching us, listening, comforting and giving us a better understanding of how to help mom adjust. The Highgate team was involved from the start and it was amazing! I just can't say enough about Highgate and the care they provide our mom. I go to bed at night with peace and security knowing mom is getting the best possible care, but continuing to have a full and meaningful life!

I admit I have not been the best nephew when it comes to visiting my aunt. I went to see her recently and I have to say she actually seems better in many ways than when she first moved in several years ago. She knew each of us without any prompting, told stories about what she had been doing and remembered things from years ago. She admitted she is happy there and it feels like home. I don't know how they do it, but they are really good at it.

Our family transitioned my mother to Highgate eight months ago. The team at Highgate went above and beyond to ensure a smooth transition for her. From the initial introduction to the facility, making personal visits before the actual move, and setting up a plan of care that met my mother's needs at the time, everything was in place by the time of the actual move. This assistance was so helpful as we were navigating a system where we did not have much experience. The personal touch and excellent customer service are what made the difference for our family as we decided on a future home for our mother. Thank you, Highgate!

My mother lives in the memory care portion of Highgate. I visited several facilities in order to find the best match for my mom. On my first visit to Highgate, Mandy provided me with an overview of the facility. She understood my situation, answered all of my questions, provided me with additional information I needed to know, and reviewed possible solutions. As I interacted with other staff members, I realized that this level of family-centric care was the norm. Not only were my mom's needs fully evaluated, but I also received support. This combination of care provided me with the confidence to make the decision that Highgate was the best place for mom to live. I had not experienced this level of care at the other facilities I had evaluated. I now consider that mom has two families: the one she raised and her Highgate family.

I cannot say enough about this community. I have had the pleasure of spending time at Highgate and observing the great care that each and every resident receives. I really enjoy seeing the residents happy and having so much fun. I have attended dementia training given by Mandy Ketcham and I learned so much about how people with dementia feel in their daily lives. We learned ways to approach them and make them feel comfortable with their surroundings. Someday, I hope to live my senior years in this community!

Where to start? Highgate has been amazing for my dad and for our family. The staff is caring and helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure he is comfortable and has what he needs. The apartments are cleaned regularly and kept tidy, the overall facility is very clean and welcoming. There were so many factors we used in choosing Highgate, but it was really important for us to have a modern facility with excellent food options. On our tour, one of the residents commented, "you won't go hungry here, the food is amazing!" We knew when we saw Highgate this was the place for our dad. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to ALL the staff--you all play an important part in my dad's daily happiness!

My mom and dad are living in assisted living at Highgate where they are receiving loving and highly capable care 24/7. It is wonderful that they are able to be living together at age 99 and 97. Their individual needs are met by separate caregivers which allows them to be on the same schedule for meals and activities and bedtime while not having to worry about each other's care. My dad was released from the Hospital ER at midnight one summer night and returned by cabulance to Highgate. We were greeted at the door by a caregiver who was able to get him settled for the night and keep watch over him through the night and the following days as he recovered. I assume many of you can understand how that immediate care helped my father and gave us peace of mind. There is a RN available every day to help figure out pain medicine for all the different needs that come up in a senior's life. Everyone on the staff is ready to help you and your loved ones at all times. They are very experienced and professional.

My mother recently passed away after living nearly two years at Highgate. The facility is well maintained, and the staff was very helpful with moving in so that her room could feel homey. What she loved most about living there was being able to connect with people. She rekindled old friendships and formed new ones with some of the residents, and she felt well cared for by the respectful and supportive staff. The caregivers were so kind and friendly, as well as competent and committed to her care. Like several other reviewers, I can't say enough positive things about the Highgate community.

We moved my mom into Highgate's memory care about 6 months ago and have been so thankful for the top quality care she receives there! Every staff person has been friendly and caring. Mom is happier than I've seen in years. When Highgate says they give residents purpose, it's really true! Mom stays busy every day with a great variety of activities. Generally, I think all is well with the limited assistance that my mother presently needs. About the only comment I would make is that she complains about the food and/or limited selections. Not sure if anything can be done about that. She might complain anyway. Maybe asking her (and others) what they would like might help. You may already do this and I just don't know.

We recently moved Mom to The Cottage at Highgate, and have had a very positive experience. The staff is very professional, friendly, and welcoming, and seem to be well trained in dealing with dementia, in comparison to the previous facility she was in. The facility prides itself on using a holistic approach in working with their residents. When a resident has an issue and needs redirecting, the care partners know how to handle and/or diffuse the situation. Mom spent nearly 7 months at another facility in Yakima, and I was receiving calls from the facility almost on a daily basis, asking me for help because they did not know how to help and/or redirect her. This led to the staff being extremely rude and they directed inappropriate comments towards me. The staff at Highgate has been completely opposite, taking a genuine interest in the residents, and treating the family with respect. They seem to understand what a difficult journey this is for the family. Each day the residents are up, dressed, and frequently out in the common area. There are many daily activities that they encourage the residents to participate in, and they keep track of each activity the resident takes part in via the Sagely app, which is then emailed to the family daily. When we want to take Mom out, all we have to do is make a phone call to the facility, tell them the time we're planning to pick her up, and they make sure she is ready to go. I would highly recommend Highgate Senior Living, and have recommended it to several friends. Thank you, Highgate, for taking such good care of Mom!

Highgate is everything we hoped for and what we thought we wouldn't find. My family is very happy with Highgate's attitude, approach, and their operations. It is a very well-run living community. I can't recommend it enough. When they say they want your loved one to thrive, they mean it. My mother, who has dementia, has been living in The Cottage at Highgate for one year. Please read on for details. I feel happy when I walk in and pass through the building and the courtyards. It smells fresh and clean, and feels like home. Highgate is nicely decorated and well-kept. My phone calls and questions are always answered. I never feel put off or ignored and I feel that Mom and the other residents are always under someone's watchful eye. Courtyards are welcoming, fun to visit, secure, well supervised, and provide a very pleasant backdrop to the "great room" and dining areas. The "bistro" is a special little place for a visit with my mom, with high quality coffee, espresso and cookies, and comfortable seating with a view of the courtyard. There is almost always an activity going on, from simple crafts to scenic drives. Residents are encouraged to participate. The Cottage's living area is secure, well lit, and well monitored. It is set up to be comfortable and functional, with recliners for relaxing, watching TV, and tables for eating, socializing, and doing activities. Care-partners are attentive and provide quality care. They interact with residents and seem to enjoy their company. They are patient, friendly, and respectful to the residents. They are helpful and easy to talk with when I have questions or concerns. I regularly see staff members helping each other, and it is not uncommon to see senior staff participating in activities with residents, from serving meals to dressing up as Santa Claus. Rooms are functional, with large modern bathrooms and walk-in showers. Room doors easily lock, unlock, open, and close. I never have trouble finding assistance; staff members are always available. Staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, kind, helpful, cheerful, and patient. Staff members even take the trouble to park away from the entrance leaving room for visitors. Highgate holds holiday and other special events for the residents and their families. These events are pleasant activities to share with your loved one.

Highgate has been a wonderful Home for my parents. It is clean, warm and friendly. Family and visitors are always greeted with a hello and a smile from every member of the staff. The whole staff, from Administration to care partners to housekeeping, laundry & the maintenance man are kind, loving and patient and will do everything in their power to keep my parents safe, healthy and happy. My 98 year old Dad & 100 1/2 year old Mom lived together at Highgate for 11 months until my mom passed away in January 2018. Right before Mom passed and she came "Home" to Highgate for her final day under Hospice care, The Executive Director Caela, told us to let her know if there was any thing we needed. She also said there was an empty room at the end of the hall down from Dad's room that they were going to set up for Mom so it would be easier for Dad to visit her and the family could have special private time with her. We were welcome to come and go and stay as long as we could with Mom. They provided sandwiches, salads and beverages for family & visitors. Caela even brought a special quilt from home to keep Mom comfortable. Because of Highgates special caring and thoughtfulness Mom passed away peacefully holding Dad''s hand surrounded by her family. The staff and care partners treated my parents with respect, kindness and love as if my parents were their parents or grandparents. They all continue to take wonderful care of Dad and spend a little extra time with him because they know how lonely he is now without Mom. They keep in close contact with me with all aspects of his care. Highgate is a wonderful place for the elderly to call HOME. Thank you Highgate of Yakima, you have been a true blessing! Mays
