All I have to say is that having my grandparents at Brookdale has been amazing. Not only did they make us feel like we made the right choice, my parents were so happy with the great service they provide and also they loved the activities provided there as well. Jacque reichert was amazing and made us feel like family, knowing my parents are in good hands makes me and my siblings feel great about our decision. I highly recommend this place.

Title: Disappointing Experience at Brookdale Richland Assisted Living Review: As the daughter of a resident at Brookdale Richland Assisted Living, I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with this facility. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the decline in resident activities and overall quality of care has been disheartening. I regret to say that my family's expectations have not been met, and I find it necessary to express our concerns. First and foremost, the lack of resident activities is a major issue. During the lockdown, most activities were canceled, which is understandable given the circumstances. However, even after restrictions were lifted, very few activities have been resumed. It's disheartening to witness the residents' limited engagement and lack of stimulation, which greatly impacts their well-being. It is crucial for an assisted living facility to provide a vibrant and engaging environment for its residents, and unfortunately, Brookdale Richland has fallen short in this regard. Additionally, communication with the facility has been extremely poor. Phone calls are rarely returned, leaving families in a state of constant worry and uncertainty. It's distressing to be met with a lack of responsiveness, especially when seeking updates or expressing concerns about our loved ones. The staff's apparent disinterest in interacting with family members only adds to the frustration and makes it difficult to feel confident in the care being provided. Moreover, cleanliness is a significant concern at Brookdale Richland. A clean and sanitary environment is vital, particularly in a facility housing vulnerable residents. However, we have consistently noticed lapses in cleanliness during our visits. From unclean common areas to neglected personal spaces, it's evident that proper cleaning protocols are not being diligently followed. This is simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the facility's commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe living environment. In conclusion, our experience with Brookdale Richland Assisted Living has been deeply unsatisfactory. The decline in resident activities since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with poor communication and subpar cleanliness, have left us feeling concerned and disappointed. We had hoped for a caring and engaging environment for our loved one, but unfortunately, this facility has failed to meet our expectations. It is my sincere hope that management takes these concerns seriously and takes immediate steps to rectify these issues, ensuring a better experience for all residents and their families.

My parents recently moved into Brookdale Richland. My dad is living with dementia. The Brookdale Richland staff have been amazing through the entire process to help them move into their new home. Our family greatly appreciates it. It's only been a few months, but my parents are definitely settling in and are well taken care of. Most importantly, my Dad is in good care with the staff, which relieves so much stress off my mom so they can continue to enjoy the rest of their lives. Thank You!

For Dad, age 90, making the decision to sell his home and move closer to family had several stops and starts over two years time. For at least the last six months of that process we were in regular communication with Brookdale staff. Katie and Emily were very helpful and accessible for all our questions. They were also extremely patient and understanding during times when plans changed. Their interactions with Dad could not have been more kind or respectful, and included a personal apple pie on one occasion. Dad was officially welcomed at Brookdale on Monday, January 24th, the very same day he completed his "wellness exam" doctor visit. From that time on all the staff have been kind, understanding and responsive to his needs, and they've developed a familiar/caring relationship with him. On settling in the first day without much furniture yet, he was offered an available recliner chair which he still enjoys. Within the first week Dad commented that "Everyone who works here is VERY nice and they already know my name! They always say "Hi, Witt!"" As his family, we have only been treated with an open welcome and helpful news that can assist with our connectedness and his well being. The careful attentiveness and rational science-based approach to COVID cases is outstanding. The simplest way to express our experience is that: the staff works to facilitate the quality of assisted living and to creatively enhance it. Thank you, Rick & Nancy Wittman

By way of background, Mom was at Brookdale-Richland for almost 6 years. She had previously been living on her own in the Seattle area. But as her friends contacted me with stories about Mom falling and losing track of her meds I became more insistent that she move closer to my wife and me. The transition to an assisted living facility was difficult. Others should not underestimate the impact this transition can have, especially for seniors. But from day one, the Brookdale staff went out of their way to make her feel welcome. From the beginning to the end of Mom’s stay (she passed at age 100) they were very good in letting me know of issues related to her physical or mental health and calling for an ambulance when necessary. This let me respond with an immediate visit or phone call. The caregivers showed both professional and personal concerns. But as her son, I think my physical presence had a calming effect on her, so I appreciated being notified of problems as soon as they arose. To persons concerned about Brookdale’s capability to handle medical problems, I’d note that their medical team was involved in all of Mom’s livability assessments’. Also, following each of her hospitalizations, the Brookdale medical team would meet with staff at Kadlec Hospital or Richland Rehab to assure they could provide the needed follow-up services. And they worked closely with hospice towards the end of Mom’s life. Finances are, of course, a major concern for families using an assisted living facility. I never had a problem meeting with their business office to resolve questions related to coverage by Medicare (for medications), long term care insurance, hospital/clinic billing, etc. I don’t know how Brookdale management finds the kind and compassionate people they do for the stressful work of providing daily care for seniors and others in need of assistance. The kindness of both Jim and Victor when Mom first moved in, and more recently that of Nila, Sabti, Rosie, Emily and *all* the caregivers is greatly appreciated. They all made Mom’s last years much better than they would have been had she stayed in Seattle.

I live half way across the country from my 97 year young father. I talk to him on a regular basis. Every time I call he tells me about them NEVER checking on him, and I am heart sick that I can't be there to check on him myself. He tells me how lonely he is and that no one talks to him, even with his door wide open. I came for a visit 2 years ago and no one at the front desk asked why I was there! If they call this assisted living, I would hate to see what full care would be like. Hell, he could be dead for a week before someone realized he had even fallen!

The facility looks very nice. And at first, my parents were thrilled to be living there. However, things did not always meet our expectations: * My parents paid to have their apartment cleaned weekly. There were times when no one came to clean it. And when we moved my parents to a different care center last week, there was thick dust on much of the furniture -- it clearly hadn't been dusted in months. Just a cursory sweep over the front of the nightstands, side tables, and TV stand. * My parents paid to have their laundry done weekly. Again, sometimes they were skipped completely. Other times, they had to retrieve their laundry and fold it themselves. Recently, their fitted bed sheet and a pillowcase was lost in the laundry, never to be found. * A nurse came and told my dad to leave a urine sample on the counter for her. FIVE DAYS LATER the urine sample still had not been picked up. * My mom's name was misspelled on the nameplate outside their door. My dad politely asked that they replace the nameplate with the correct spelling. Months later, it still had not been corrected. I then also politely asked them to replace the nametag. Another week went by....no change. So I had to sternly complain about it, and FINALLY, nearly a year after moving in, my mom's nametag was finally spelled correctly. I know this sounds like a small thing to be upset about. But my mom's name is just about all she has left of her identity, thanks to Alzheimers. Would it really have been so difficult for someone there to change the nameplate???? * During the entire time they lived there, whenever I visited them I was never greeted by any of the staff. The front receptionist would ignore me when I entered; any staff I'd happen to pass in the hallway ignored me. The point of my mentioning this, is that everyone seems so friendly and welcoming on move-in day. But after that, we are invisible. Did they also treat my parents as if they were invisible? It was always up to ME to be the first to smile and greet any of the staff members before they would acknowledge even seeing me. * And so...when my father asked to move to a different care center, we were in agreement with him. As I was moving my parents' belongings, I passed by the front desk at least 75 times, struggling to manage the two entryway doors each time. Not once --- NOT ONCE --- did any staff offer to simply tap the automatic door button for me so that it would be easier to manage the doors with my load of furniture and clothing. How hard would it have been to simply say, "Oh! I see your hands are full! Let me get that door for you!" of "Let me push that door button for you!" On the very last load, AFTER I had pointed out to the receptionist the very thick dust on the furniture that no one had cleaned, THEN, for the first time, she acted concerned and said, "Do you need any help?" I think the bottom line is that although this facility LOOKS pretty...the customer service and resident care is lacking.
