Premier home for the elderly, serene location perfect for retirement.

Only 1 working elevator. Getting the second elevator fixed doesn't seem like a priority. Doesn't seem safe with all of those wheelchair bound residents

Our family would like to send out a giant Thank You to University House’s Community Relations Director Dion Cole. As we started the family journey of finding a place for our mom’s next chapter about a year ago, we toured various communities on the east side. Mom was reluctant to leave her house, but it was time and best for her to be in an independent community. Our first meeting at UH was with Dion and meeting some of the staff. Dion’s kindness and compassion was what settled mom into entertaining moving into UH. After a second meeting with Dion, mom felt so welcomed to make the move to UH. Our family is very grateful that Dion and the rest of the UH family have embraced mom with open arms and made her transition enjoyable. She loves it there!

University House Issaquah has been an excellent place for my 95-year-old father to live. There is a surprising array of fascinating lectures and discussion groups, which keeps him intellectually stimulated and engaged. The staff is considerate and empathetic to the needs of the elderly. They make it a safe, caring, and hospitable environment. The dinners in the large dining room downstairs offer the residents the chance to mingle and socialize in a pleasant place. The building is clean, attractive, and up-to-date. I thoroughly recommend University House Issaquah.

The staff I interacted with so far (Dion, Sara, Caitlin and Daniel) were very helpful, professional, courteous and kind. Any of my questions were very promptly answered.

My dad is loving his experience at University House! The staff has been so accommodating: driving him to needed appointments, outings and helping with medications. The room is spacious, excellent food and many opportunities to participate in excursions off-site or workshops on site. So grateful we made the move from Aegis to University House.

My mother has been a resident here since 2016. Our family, and most importantly she, have been very happy with our choice! The staff are great, the facility is clean and well run, and there are many many activities each day to choose from. They recently renovated the hallways, which now look much more modern. The dining room is scheduled to be remodeled this summer. They struggled at times to find enough staff to do table service in the dining room (as did so many places) and had to revert to buffet, but in general the food is good and has lots of variety. When I joined her for dinner earlier this week, she introduced me to her "dear friend", who is 101 years old and looks and acts like an 85-year-old! I would not hesitate to recommend University House Issaquah if you have a senior loved one who is ready to move out of their house and can still live independently or with a moderate amount of caregiver needs.

University House provided wonderful vare for my mother. The staff is topnotch, professional, and loving and caring too. I highly recommend them.

After my husband passed away, I looked for a suitable retirement home and moved to University House six months ago. I feel safe and comfortable in my new home here because the staff is friendly and patient. The building and premises are kept clean and attractive. I enjoy the activities offered: exercise classes, stimulating lectures, musical programs etc. The food is generally good and varied. It is also helpful that the administrative director here is available to meet with any resident who has concerns or questions.

My mother moved to the University House in July of last year. Though her stay was short, she did have a wonderful experience. See enjoyed the food and all the help she received from the staff. Most of all she made new friends. For me the best part was a most caring nursing staff. They went above and beyond the call of duty in spite of covid to attend to her daily needs. I highly recommend the University House.

The care my mom received at University House Issaquah was exemplary. While she was healthy she participated in the lectures, live musical performances, field trips and tasty meals. When she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer the assistance they provided to our family to help us navigate and coordinate her care with hospice and private CNA's was invaluable, seamless and timely. The best 7 months of her last 30 years were spent at this facility.

My mother (Ericka) lived in University House for three years until we had to move her to Spokane to be closer to another family member. Ericka loved living at University House and especially enjoyed the other residents and activities there. In particular, she enjoyed the wonderful swimming pool, current events lectures and bridge games. I was so impressed by the caring staff, all of whom took the time to get know my mom and offer help and caring support as needed. The executive director is exceptional and ran the community with care and concern, while always available to our family when we had questions or needed extra assistance.

My joy and Enthusiasm have returned! What an absolutely wonderful community:friendly and service minded, competent and well trained staff and warm and welcoming neighbors.I began to feel at home immediately when I moved here last September. When I needed health and wellness services they were conveniently available right here in my apartment. Life Enrichment provides many and varied games and activities daily.Scrable and Bingo are two of my favorites. I especially enjoy the Pool and Spa. It is beautiful and well maintained. I can be found exercising there daily! Swim aerobics is my absolutely best exercise. Other exercise I especially enjoy are Yoga and Qi gong. There are also many opportunities for Art creaations and Arts and Crafts and music appreacion. Life enrichment certainly lives up to its titleSo many interests to pursue and all provided with skill, love , and care.Amazing! Other interests that I am pursuing currently are the monthly Book Club ,and a Women’s Discussion Group This week I am planting a small P-Patch with mostly herbs and flowers. Last but not least I must mention the Food. The entire Dining Room Staff is dedicated to providing an extraordinary dining experience. The food is carefully chosen, of high quality, wonderfully fresh and healthy food. Great variety and choice is provided daily. University House Issaquah has far exceeded my expectations.I most highly recommend this community to anyone wishing to be active and involved in their retirement years. This is a wonderful place to live and grow.

I have always been a lifetime learner and University House has provider the opportunity to continue my quest including documentaries and classes on many subjects. The staff is always so kind, helpful, friendly and cheery about any request and called me by my name from the first day. There are many opportunities to make new friends which I hadn't considered when I made the decision to move here 3 years ago. This move was one of the best decisions I ever made and I only regret that I didn't come here 5 years earlier.

In 2019 my parents moved from their home of 60 years in California to University House Issaquah. My mother says every day how much she loves living there. We are all so happy they made the move. The staff are friendly, kind, caring and always willing to help. The apartments are lovely, spacious, quiet, and the safety features in place give us peace of mind. The landscaping is beautiful & meticulously kept. We were happy to discover that University House Issaquah offers something for everyone, and the entire staff do their best to meet the needs of the residents. Typically there are many activities offered such as lectures, movies, concerts, yoga and small group outings including to local stores. My parents have enjoyed the amenities including a dining room with excellent service, a salon, exercise room and a garden courtyard, just to name a few. Residents can participate & be active in the community, or just enjoy the peace & quiet and homey atmosphere. The University House Issaquah website gives a complete list and full description, if you select Secondary Menu. We highly recommend this location for senior living at its best.

University House was the second place that we looked at for mom, we knew as soon as we walked through the front doors that this was the right place for her. The staff that we met the first day really impressed us and mom speaks very highly of all of the employees that she has had interaction with since moving in. University House is immaculately maintained, offers a wide variety of activities, has nice dining room that offers many good food choices. Mom is very happy with her choice to move into University House and feels very much at home there. Mom moved into University House one month before the Corona Virus quarantine was put into place. This past year was a difficult time for everyone, but we all felt that she was in exactly the right place and my siblings and I were kept very well informed by the staff about everything taking place during that time. University House has been a terrific place for my mother-in-law to live. She wanted comfort, security, good dining and an attentive staff. She got all that with the great people at University House. She enjoys bridge and other social activities. And she loves the food. University House is ideally located near stores, shops and the many medical and dental offices in the Issaquah/Sammamish area. It has all worked out wonderfully well.

My best friend, Carolyn Carpp, had just moved into University House Issaquah from living in Bellevue. You may have met her a couple of times as she was getting acquainted with the place. She showed me the facilities a couple of times before, and I loved the place. I can't wait to see the place once she's finally settled.

We moved into University House Issaquah from out of state. So it was very important to choose carefully. We are very pleased with our decision and really comfortable here. Everyone on the staff strives to make this a warm experience- especially the Executive Director and the Directors of each of the departments. We particularly enjoy the Enrichment activities and the stimulating lectures. The in-house swimming pool is an added plus, and of prime importance is that the dining room provides good, tasty and hearty meals. The whole place is tasteful and clean, and the landscaping and beautiful flowers make us proud to call this our home. We are very pleased with our choice of University House.

We moved my Mom and step-Dad into Univ House 4 months ago from out-of-state. This was a huge change for them, and for my family. We couldn't have done it without the help of the wonderful staff at Univ House Issaquah!! They are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and calm!! The events and activities offered to residents are varied, relevant, and have been a fantastic opportunity for my Mom and step-Dad to stay active, engaged, and enjoying life. The services available in the building have helped them stay independent while adjusting to this big move. As a family, we are thrilled with our choice of University House Issaquah!!!

Final review is lower thatnoverall 3 star experience over the last 2 years. Response to a fall by resident has been duck and cover, with no information, no response, and no detail provided on timeline, response rate or follow up. This place is in it for the money only, don't be fooled that they will CARE for your family member. The staff is hit/miss and while the amenities are nice, don't think this is a care facility that will watch out for your elderly family. Very disappointed in executive staff.

It has been a very frustrating experience since moving my parent into University House Issaquah. The staff tends to turn over frequently and they always seem to be understaffed. Due to the high turnover rate the staff is not very well trained. Several of the care givers have not treated my parent with compassion or respect. In general, management seems to be more focused on the bottom line than with the care of the residents. If your loved one is independent and does not need any assistance with medication, bathing, dressing, etc. then this would probably be a good place for them.
August 2013
we moved my grandma here a few years ago and just recently moved her out. They do a really good job of hiring the day-to-day staff...front desk, waitstaff in the dining area, and most of the orderlies/nursing assistants are great. The company seems to have a hard time holding on to mid level employees. Seems like in the 1.5 years my grandma was there, the recruiting staff, the management staff and the lead nursing staff changed 3-4 times. It made consistency of care a really big problem and some of the people who were brought in surprised me with their lack of sensitivity and lack of interest in the elderly. This is a GREAT place if your loved one is independent and action-oriented; if they want to go do things, but are maybe just a little lonely and would do better with socialization. If your loved one is on a lot of medication, has limited mobility, or needs memory care, I would suggest looking for a substantially smaller senior living community or find an adult family home that has other residents similar to yours.
