I have lived at Brookdale Foundation House in Federal Way for over 5 years. It is a beautiful, peaceful facility. It has about 150 residents in independent, assisted living and memory care catagories. If you still drive there is plenty of parking around the building. My one bedroom apartment is spacious and well-lighted. The staff is wonderful; caring, friendly and helpful. There are a lot of things to do. The activities department has worked hard to make sure that everyday there is something going on. Seated fitness classes, bingo, arts and crafts and many easy, fun games that keep us active and using our muscles and brains, even if we don't realize it. There are also several resident led activities that utilize volunteers such as a huge library and the resident store. Just an hour or two a month so that we feel like we have a purpose in life. The highlight of the place is the dining services department. Drew and his crew work hard to balance budget, availibility of food and staffing to make sure every meal is pleasant. If you've been to a grocery store lately you know what a challenge that is. A unique thing about Foundation House dining is that it is restaurant style. With multiple entrees, sides and desserts, it's always possible to find the right thing to eat. Their homemade soups are yummy and the staff works hard to put a little excitement in the meals. Is it expensive? Sure it is, but so is everything and everywhere else. Especially if you've not made a house payment in 10 - 20 years. But do the math, What you pay currently to have housekeeping, utilities, food, entertainment and an in-house community of friends and acquaintences versus all the included amenities at Foundation House. Oh, and don't forget friendly bus drivers to take you to medical appointments or other necessary errands. Hands down, I would recommend Brookdale Foundation House to anyone looking for that little bit of extra care and love.

We looked at over 20+ facilities before going with Brookdale Foundation House. We moved our mother into Memory care and it has been a great experience from the very beginning. We meet with Katie (sales/marketing) who gave us a tour and answered all of our questions. Katie went above and beyond to make the transition smooth and stress free. It’s has been a couple months since our mother has been at Brookdale and we visit often. The nurses, activities coordinator, CNA’s, and front desk personnel have continued to be amazing. If you are reading this review, you are looking to place your loved one in a caring facility. Reach out to Katie, take a tour and feel confident that this staff is AMAZING!! Thanks Katie! Under much better management! Prior to mid-2019, we were frustrated with the facility administrator due to inattentiveness and poor people skills. Things seem to be running better now. Both of our parents had been at Brookdale Foundation House in Federal Way for several years and my father-in-law was there during the entire Covid-19 pandemic. Although they were very conservative regarding visitation and gatherings, they had few incidents since the beginning of 2020 and we are most delighted with the outcome. The staff is thoughtful and professional. Definitely recommend Brookdale for loved-ones in their transitional time of life.

My mother lives in Brookdale Foundation House and absolutely loves it there. Since the pandemic began this year, they have been following the state protocol, and with their excellent care for the residents, have kept them very safe. All the staff I have encountered have been exceptionally helpful and friendly. You can tell they really care. The home is beautiful and very well maintained, and always decorated beautifully for holidays. The meals are fine, not a 5-star restaurant, but decent. There has been an extra burden on staff as they must deliver all meals to the rooms now, take temperatures and oxygen levels daily, sanitize all deliveries, ensure all are abiding by the quarantine rules, etc., and the staff do it all with a cheerful attitude. We are also grateful that this residence is right next door to Kaiser Permanente, Moms medical care, and she can walk or take the Brookdale shuttle for any appointments. So convenient! Our whole family is very happy that Mom is safe and happy, thanks to the great people at Brookdale Foundation House! Special thanks to the executive director, Beth Mueller, who has been so responsive with various requests, and always makes me so happy that Mom is there. They are so appreciated!

Had several contacts with Diba M. Wickline and found her to be very helpful, knowledgeable, respectful, kind and considerate. She never hesitated to answer any of my questions. Provided detailed report of Brookdale along with a virtual tour. What I liked best was that she called me back several times to see if I had any further question and how she could be helpful. I highly recommended the place to some of my other friends and to ask for Diba. Thank you Diba

My first contact with Brookdale Foundation house was with Diba Wickline. She was friendly and accommodating. She gave me a thorough virtual tour, answered all my questions, and did a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure they could meet my mothers needs which are many. She kept in contact and updated me during the whole process. Because of this I felt comfortable that my mother would be in good hands.

We are enjoying our tidy cottage. It is well maintained and feels like home. the dining experience is worthy, and it offers an excellent time to meet with friends and acquaintances. Our family has joined us here for meals and brunches often. And, best of all is the opportunity to enjoy outside activities. The luncheon dates, museum tours, jazz concerts and theater opportunities are great. Most of all, I appreciate the constant willingness of the management to listen to needs and suggestions.

Foundation House (FH) has been a nice home for my parents for over five years now. My rating would be higher but there are several concerns my parents are having with FH. Most recently and most egregious, my folks along with many others on the first floor, were given what is the equivalent of an eviction notice just after the first of the year. FH is planning to turn that floor into a memory-care unit in order to make more money from the facility. The FH team is trying to relocate all those affected by the plan within the building but since my folks are in a double, and there are only a few doubles in the building, they do not have a room for them. To be honest John, the Director there, is trying to get them two side-by-side singles but that still doesn't excuse them for forcing my parents from their double apartment they have called home for over five years. It remains to be seen how this all turns out. I will update this review as the situation changes. On the bright side, the facility is nice, well maintained, and comfortable, the food is good (not great, but good), the staff is friendly, and the wait staff works hard to meet the needs of a bunch of picky eaters. There are numerous events for residents each week and my folk have been quite comfortable there. As an addendum to this story, Foundation House modified a single apartment and a studio into a small double apartment for my folks. We had to jettison two more pieces of furniture to fit them in but they are once again settled in at Foundation House. We appreciate everything that Foundation House and John did to make this happen.
