I have often had the opportunity to go to The Retreat at Fishersville as an outside home health employee. I have always found the staff there to be quite friendly, considerate, and compassionate. My concerns have always been addressed in a prompt manner. I would certainly give them high marks as an assisted living facility and want to personally thank them for their kind assistance. Do not put your loved one in this facility. We only had 3 good months in Year 2023 before the facility staff fell apart and care declined to a dangerous level. We eventually pulled our mom out and it was already too late. Our beautiful mom, Sheila Davies, passed the following month on Thanksgiving Day 2023. Behavior Issues of a loved one will only be medicated by this facility until the medication makes them a zombie. Staff to Resident Ratio is inadequate and I don't care what the State guidelines are and this facility only cares about profit. Ignore the Activity Calendar on the wall it is for show only. Do not believe a thing in your research meeting with sales -- however if the facility was really run like said in the sales pitch.. it would be a great place but its not. Again, not all staff were uncaring. Staff are underpaid. Lots of chitchatting going on and not much social interaction with the residents who just sit in the main room. The Phoenix Company owns this facility and puts financial returns, in my opinion, above resident care. Otherwise they would hire more staff to resident ratio above and beyond the State Requirement (which is a disgrace to say the least). Bottom line do not put your loved one in a facility such as this. Spend your money with a one on one care giver even if your loved one has behavioral issues from dementia... their life depends on it. We moved my father and wife into The Retreat at Fishersville. Everyone at The Retreat has gone out of their way in making the transition for my father and wife go smoothly. From the moment you enter the front door, Phyllis welcomes you with a smile, Becky, the Wellness Director always has time to address your questions, Rick who keeps the facility in perfect operation, and Jenny the Executive Director goes out of her to ensure that every resident has all their needs met.

Ive been in healthcare for 17 years and this is by far the best company Ive worked for! The management and staff are all so friendly and pleasant to be around! I finished nursing school while working at The Retreat and since then Ive been training to be the Wellness Director at the facility coming to Harrisonburg. This company has so much to offer and Im so blessed to be a part of something so BEAUTIFUL! I love the companies approach on how we care for our residents. I highly recommend The Retreat at Fishersville as a place to build a career and a place for your loved one!

I would definitely recommend this community to any family looking for the best care around for their loved one and to any person looking to work for an amazing company. I truly enjoyed working at The Retreat. It felt like my second home and family! The management was wonderful to work for and down to earth loving people and so was the staff. The residents are truly amazing and I just love them all !!! I so miss attending to their needs and talking with them!! I think of them often and I pray Gods loving protection over them !!

Best decision we have ever made. Mom is blossoming at The Retreat. The staff are fabulous and respond immediately to us and her. Their programming and excellent food, as well as superb health care approach is giving her a vitality we havent seen in a long time. I want to move in!

I was so nervous when I changed my career this late in life, however I enjoy the change I made everyday. Working at The Retreat is truly fulfilling, the management team is amazing and all of my co-workers work great together as a team. They go above and beyond for the residents, their families and the entire team employed their. I am blessed to have the opportunity to began my position there when we opened our doors in this community. I look forward to a long career there with potentially the chance for advancement.
