Arden Courts of Fair Oaks, Virginia does an outstanding job of taking care of our Mom! Our family has never been more grateful to their loving, compassionate and knowledgeable care that the staff give her every day. In the last six months, the new Director has improved all aspects of the facility, and care. There are diverse activities for all the residents to meet them at whatever level their needs are . The food is home-cooked, nutritious and our mom raves at how delicious it is. Before coming to Arden Courts of Fair Oaks, she was losing weight, now she is gaining The facility is always clean, and if anything is out of place, it is organized, cleaned or fixed immediately. Want to compliment Henry, the maintenance/fix-all man at Arden Courts-Fair Oaks. He is always very responsive to resident and family requests for assistance, whether it is for hanging a picture or adjusting room temperatures and providing assistance with technical apps. He is a caring individual whose every interaction with my loved one is positive.

Under new management, Arden Court has turned a corner under Betty, the new executive director. Any requests I make are immediately addressed. Arden Courts is a pleasant place to visit because it is in a beautiful setting. The staff are great. I would recommend it to everyone.

My brother has received excellent care at Arden. The staff is kind and very patient. They have made this terrible journey so much better because I can feel secure in the knowledge that he is being looked after by such caring people. Everyone from the administrator, to the nursing staff, to the food services staff, to housekeeping and maintenance staff-they all have taken time to forge a connection with my brother and with me. Arden feels like family and I'm very grateful to them!
May 2022
My experience with them was excellent. The staff was courteous, caring, understanding, patient and helpful. They answered every question I had and didn't force me into anything, which I totally loved. Out of all the places I contacted for memory care for my father, Arden Courts by far was the most engaging. They took the time and care to help me with everything I needed to get done. Explained things to me in detail and constantly stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we couldn't admit my Father into the facility. I have no doubt it would have been a great fit for him. When I told the staff our decision to keep at home with us for the time being, they were completely understanding and informed me when we were ready to move forward they would be here for us. Thank you to Anna, Sharon and Nancy, you all are amazing.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks was recommended by our care manager when our family could no longer care for my husband at home and needed to find a memory care community. It was an extremely difficult time and a tough decision to move him to a secure place with 24 hour supervision. He is receiving excellent care in a warm and caring atmosphere. It is close to our family and has a wonderful and cheerful home environment. The staff are very professional and kind. Doctors check on my husband regularly and are on call as needed. There are daily activities, community rooms for entertainment and hobbies, garden paths to walk outside and patio areas where we can sit in the sun. The meals and snacks are great. His room is neat and tidy and comfortable with a nice view of the courtyard. We are so happy we chose Arden Courts!

My FIL has just been put into Arden Courts. Honestly, I can't say enough nice things about Arden Courts Fair Oaks and all the fantastic people who work there. Ana was most helpful from start to "finish", finish in quotes because there is no real finish. She just keeps helping out in every way she can. The in-house doctor is fantastic, and so is the head nurse. I can't name all the employees who work here, but every single one has been cheerful and helpful. The food is very good. My father-in-law, who is almost annoyingly picky, likes it! This place exceeded my expectations in every way. Placing a family member in a memory care unit is always traumatic for everyone, but rest assured, there's no memory care place better than this. It's all they do. And the icing on the cake is about an acre of open winding outside courtyards, securely fenced. In any type of good weather, the doors to this are always open and the residents can go outside at whim. No other place offers this. I never thought I would ever write such a glowing review about an elder care institution. In sum, we are very satisfied with this Arden Courts and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We moved both my parents here and both of them received excellent care. They are communicative and kind and work well with families and other caregivers and health care providers who come in for the residents. I only wish I moved my parents in sooner.

I don't even know where to start. Other than I feel like Arden courts of Fair Oaks saved my life and my Moms! Mom had been in a memory care area of an assisted living home. She was only there for four months. The longest four months of my life. She supposedly had terrible behaviors. She was sent out to go to a psychiatric hospital. The Dr at the ER sent her back saying she did not exhibit any behaviors that he could see. This is when we made the decision to move her. I called all the memory care places I could find. Most said they could not handle her. Others we checked out but felt they were pretty much more of the same. We really believed that Mom felt locked in. She called it jail all the time. We needed something different. When using A place for Mom I heard about Arden Courts of Fair Oaks. I called. They listened to everything I had to say about Mom. The good, the bad and the ugly. And then they said, we will take her. Music to my ears! As soon as we walked in I knew it was the right place. So homey. It looked and felt like my parents house. The walkways that Mom could walk and not feel locked in! The kitchen that looked like a home kitchen! The gardens! A cozy bedroom that did not look like a hospital room! I went back and told Mom she was moving, and never coming back there again. And here she is, living at Arden. Happy, other than a few agitated moments, doing great! She says she is happy there, and that she loves the food! They handled everything with her with no issues. No calls to me to come and get her. They enjoy her. And finally we found the perfect place for all of us! A blessing! Many months later, I want to give a shout out to Marie! She is the best. She is the chef, and gives attention to each and every person there. Thank you Marie. Arden has gone through some changes, and some set backs. But has seemed to settle back down to it's usual good work.

My Dad lived at Arden Courts Fair Oaks from June to September 2020. During his stay he was well cared for. The management and staff were friendly and helpful. Due to Covid, I was only ever allowed as far into the facility as the lobby. I never saw his room or other residents. I was only allowed to visit him once, outside, during his stay. For our situation it was the best care I could give him. Covid makes memory care very hard for everyone involved.
December 2020
We are very happy with the care our father received at Arden Courts of Fair Oaks. The staff is very caring, there are many activities for the residents to enjoy, and it is a warm, nurturing and cheerful environment.

This is my first google review; I feel THAT strongly about Arden Court. Twice in the past 2 years, my father with dementia has had to stay here for respite care. Both times, I have witnessed the loving and thoughtful care they lavished on him. In fact, most recently, when it was time to come home, he was happy and relaxed and even hummed to music on the way. It should also tell you something that, in an industry plagued with high turnover, they tend to retain staff. Hats off to Nancy, Ana, Helen and Vishnu who were just wonderful to him and to us, the family. They were so patient with our calls checking in on him. I have such incredible peace of mind when hes in their care. Thank you, all , so much!

My Dad is a resident at Arden Courts and we could not be more pleased with his care. The staff is very kind and patient. There is music and constant activity for the residents to participate in. The nurses and CNAs are wonderful! So glad we moved Dad to Arden when he could no longer be cared for at home. He is thriving there!
September 2020
My family had a great experience with this care facility. Our dad was very well cared for until the very end. The staff was sensitive, kind and caring to our dad through all the stages of dementia until his recent passing. The staff even showed up at his funeral service which meant a great deal to us as a family. They had a vested and concerned interest in my dads comfort and happiness and I am so grateful for that. His last years were spent in a warm, nurturing and active community and I would recommend Arden Courts for anyones loved one that needs additional care.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks has been such a blessing for my family. The decision to place a loved one in Memory Care is so emotional. The staff at ACFO took over and made our transition smooth. My mother is well adjusted, and happy in her new home. She is no longer frightened like she was in her own home - I think because she is surrounded by busy, friendly, fun, people who are genuinely interested in her. She is clean, and cared for. She loves the staff who attend to her. Arden Courts has lifted a huge burden off of her family and its all the better because she

From our very first visit to Arden Courts of Fair Oaks, the staff was warm and welcoming. All our questions were answered thoroughly. The total number of residents were divided into into smaller neighborhoods, making it easy to get to know neighbors and staff. The individual neighborhoods were cheerful and appealing, each with a dining room, kitchen and lounge. We found the care givers to be kind and compassionate, doing all they could to bring out the best in each resident. I highly recommend Arden Courts at Fair Oaks for anyone with memory care challenges.

I cared for my wife of 46 years in our home as long as possible. When I began looking at memory care facilities I was fortunate to have the assistance of a consultant to the Alzheimers Association of the Greater Metro Area. She provided me with guidance as to what to look for in a memory care facility and she also said she would tell me if I selected a facility the she did not feel comfortable recommending. I visited a number of facilities in the area and with our sons concurrence decided on Arden Courts of Fair Oaks. She said she was confident I would be very pleased with my choiceI moved my wife to Arden Courts on January 14th 2019, the most difficult day of my life. I knew she would never be able to return to the home we built in 1978 and where we had raised our son and enjoyed time with our grandchildren. It was a very sad day indeed. But what I did know was that she was about to receive the best possible care, care that I could not provide to her at home. The staff and caregivers treated her like one of the family doing everything possible to keep her safe, smiling and without pain in her final days. When I expressed concerns to the staff, which was very seldom they responded immediately. They not only treated her like family but also treated me, our son and grandchildren the same way. I visited my wife everyday that I was in the area and not once was I dissatisfied with the care she received. The daily caregivers have a very difficult job andI will be forever grateful to them.My wife passed away on December 28th. The staff moved a recliner into her room so I could be with her until the very end. I stayed with her the last 48 hours of her life. The staff provide her and me with loving care to the very end. I will never forget those last few precious days and hours. And now that she is gone I still stop by Arden Courts on occasion to visit the staff and caregivers who did so much for our family. I highly recommend Arden Courts of Fair Oaks. You cannot go wrong with this facility.

Our loved one has been at Arden Courts Fair Oaks VA for over 12 months. Someone has visited him most days for 1-3 hours so we have had plenty of opportunities to observe life and standards of care at the facility.Although Arden Courts is not a luxurious residence, it has cheerful surroundings and most of the staff are exceptionally kind, considerate and upbeat. It is heart warming to watch them find ways to interact with residents and engage them in activities despite the residents varied levels of dementia. This applies to the cleaning and maintenance staff through to the care givers, nurses and staff in charge of activities. The residents love the many musical programs put on by visiting performers and these performers in turn seem to appreciate the reception they get all suggesting that the community atmosphere is pleasant and healthy. The meals are prepared with care, are varied and healthy and morning and afternoon snacks interesting. When we have asked for extra help or make a suggestion the staff have acted promptly. The management is pleasant to deal with and seems responsive to the residents needs. Our family is grateful for having our loved one in a facility run by experienced and caring professionals.

Arden Courts has been a lifesaver. My mom is 95 and has been a resident for 18months and is thriving under their skilled care. Its such a wonderful facility with a caring and compassionate staff and outstanding Director. The staff are always smiling and cater to those under their care. This residential facility has 4 pods each with a living room, dining room and kitchen; which cater to different levels of memory loss and assistance needs—each with their own staff so that loved ones have regular staff members familiar with their needs and abilities. There are many activities catering to varying abilities and mom has been fortunate to be able to go out on special outings. The grounds are wonderful and my experience is that mom is free to come and go outside at any time in a safe and secure setting. They have little gardens where residents can garden in the herb garden or greenhouse. Daily activities are varied but a full schedule to keep residents engaged and active including music, art, games and social. Staff greet residents by name and with a friendly smile and touch. AC is clean, well maintained and secure. Director and staff are always responsive to concerns and communicate when there is an issue. Im long distance from mom but whenever I visit, Im always able to have a meeting to discuss moms progress and care plan. AC are ultimate professionals and I can highly recommend. Family are welcome and encouraged anytime. AC has given me the pleasure to be the daughter I want to be and have meaningful moments with mom without the burden of primary caregiving, and the peace of mind to know she is content, safe, and cared for with respect.
May 2019
My mother resided at Arden Courts of Fair Oaks for 13 1-2 years while struggling with Alzheimers disease. It was the best decision for Mom to place her in this facility. They provided Mom with a comfortable, safe environment while they provided excellent care in guiding her and us through the mysterious progression of this horrible disease. They treated Mom with dignity and respect and were able to redirect her behavior when the ugly side of the disease showed up almost daily. The staff is experienced and treats all residents like family. They provide many engaging activities and outings. I know Mom felt at home there as she would hug the staff and cry with joy upon her return after spending time away for medical treatment. When Mom was nearing the end of her life, they recognized the symptoms long before our family did and provided hospice care for her. The final tribute at her death was very beautiful and moving, much like a tribute to a fallen soldier. It is a quality care facility that gave me peace of mind and provided Mom with 24 hour care that I would not have been able to provide.

Head and shoulders above any competition. My dad spent his last days there and it was one of his greatest blessings. Three things that stood out above the rest: Genuine, friendly, engaged staff from top to bottom, anti-hospital look-feel to public space including bedrooms, safety was priority number one! They were the only facility that was totally up front about costs - places that were cheaper up front had add-ons that made them even more expensive than AC!! If you have cancer youd go to a cancer expert, and here, they are dementia experts and you should ONLY go to these folks. The place is beautiful inside and out, the bedrooms have windows that look outside and dont look like hospital rooms. Plus there are daily activities that engage the patients. The dining areas look like the kitchen in your house. Everything is designed to support patients and family alike. Every one of the staff is there to help, I never felt like Pop was alone or that he was forgotten or uncared for. The hospice team were just as great!! Knowing what I know now, there is no doubt in my mind, Arden Courts of Fair Oaks was the best decision I made during one of the most difficult times in my life. Thank you Anita and thank you Tracy - and thank you to your entire staff - for every single thing that you did to help me, my dad and my whole family!! Words cannot express how much I appreciate all that you have done. You are #1!!!

Today went perfect, my mom was weepy in the car on the drive to VA, mostly because I do not think she fully understood what was going on. But, we got to Arden Courts where Anita, the ED, swooped in and took my mom into her new home and introduced her to the staff and other residents. They are unpacking her tonight and setting up her room. I know my mom is probably scared but my heart is full knowing the kindness of a complete stranger is there to help calm her down. So far we have received daily updates on her and the messages we have been getting is that she is always smiling and giving out hugs to the staff! My mind is at peace and my heart is full...this is a beautiful thing!!!
April 2019
My mom was a resident at Arden Courts Fair Oaks for just over 2 yrs. I cant tell you what an outstanding experience we had there. The facility set up is perfect for those with dementia-its bright, easy to maneuver for residents of all abilities, and division into smaller residential pods for customized care needs makes a difference compared to other residential care facilities I visited. But what truly makes the difference is the director and staff here. They are skilled in dementia care and truly care about the resident and the families. I witnessed their kindness and patience and gentle hugs over and over and the dignity they showed each resident everyday so that the resident got the most quality moments. They support and care for the families and help each family through the hard stages of the disease and coping thru hard times while helping us get the most quality time and loving moments with our loved ones. If you are looking for bells and whistles—fancy dining rooms, this isnt it. If you are looking for a place that maximizes your loved ones freedom, optimizes their experiences, ensures their health and safety, and know they are warmly greeted with a hug and kind word often everyday while your not there—this is your place!

Picking a facility was one of the hardest things I had to do. Luckily, I had started the research 2 years prior to needing it so I had time to prepare, just in case. I had so much guilt in having to place mom, but I knew this was the best decision in keeping mom safe since she had started wandering out of my house and I could no longer keep her safe. At that time, mom was still very social and active and I wanted to find a place that mom would love and thrive at. I visited at least 7 facilities within a 20 mile radius of my house and no other facility compared to Arden Courts at Fair Oaks. Unfortunately, when it was time to place mom, Arden Courts was the furthest, and I struggled with not knowing whether to place mom at Arden at Fair Oaks or somewhere closer to my house. To this day I remember the director asking me, if your mom had cancer, would you want her in the best facility or one that was closest to you? This is so very true and helped me make my decision and will always be grateful for her advice and my instincts on picking Arden. I made this decision 4 years ago and I have not one regret. The best thing about placing mom is that I can be the daughter again to my mom instead of being her caregiver which took a toll on our family.I chose Arden because the Staff were friendly, the facility was small enough and the environment felt like it was a homely atmosphere. They have activities planned all day to keep the residents engaged, especially music which my mom absolutely loves and they hire outside companies to come in and entertain the residents as well. have had to interact with key staff members such as director, nurse and chef and they are all so very helpful when I need to adjust moms care. Even though mom has been non-verbal for the past year, I know that mom loves the aids because I see mom smile when they talk to her. Lastly, I am grateful for the staff in how they have guided me through the difficult stages that mom has been through. Some of the key staff members also had family members with dementia, so they really understand all aspects of this horrible disease. They have seen me at my best and worst moments and allowed me to cry in their arms when needed and they are always right there with me. I have peace of mind knowing mom is safe and is loved by staff, especially when I am not around and at this point in my life, I consider the staff and residents part of my extended family. Stop by and talk to Anita. You will not be disappointed.

Arden Courts Fair Oaks gets my mother. She is thriving in a way I havent seen in her 4+ years with dementia. Im no longer losing sleep worrying about her. Every person with dementia differs in their needs, but I am guessing whats universal is feeling respected, celebrated, safe, and free... and the Arden Courts culture embraces and fosters these needs. Theres no facade. The culture is overwhelmingly real. I love visiting... Wheres my mom? It takes me time to find her... not because shes unaccounted for, but because shes on the go -- actively involved and connecting with others, enjoying the stimulating indoor environment, or exploring outside. At her last community, she was considered aggressive and management wanted her on a psych drug. You know why she was aggressive-combative?... Because she was confined and constantly redirected. Well, no wonder. It was her environment. You would never know it now at Arden Courts. Im beside myself in joy and thankfulness for the strong leadership of the director and her staffs passion, dedication, and brilliant care. - Robin (Annelieses daughter)]
