The team within Harmony Oakboroke saved a life in our family, I am certain of this. My wife and I talked to 15 facilities, toured and interviewed 10, searched the VA State Licensing website for violations/inspections to decide on Harmony Oakbrooke. My father and mother were living alone and just holding on to a way of life with the two of them not quite equaling one person and then crisis hit. Due to fading short term memory of one parent with a recent cancer diagnosis and a quickly deteriorating dementia condition with the other parent a move had to be made. We went through a lot that I would hope no one else would ever have to experience. The Harmony team was driven by their personal experiences, love of people, and professional experiences to keep me from falling into a dark place at a time of need. Now each parent is in a place of safety, comfort, wellness, and able to spend time together. I am indebted to this team of people for who they are personally and professional, as well as for the product that they offer at Harmony Oakbrooke.

Fantastic care, wonderful people, gorgeous facility. After dealing with some pretty bad senior care centers in the Tidewater area, we landed on Harmony at Oakbrooke. The new executive director is caring, working hard to provide an exceptional experience for all the seniors and their families. We love our mom's aides and her care is much improved over her previous senior facility. Highly recommend. Five stars!!!!

This community has the most caring staff and management. They really do go above and beyond to make sure the residents are well taken care of. They've made huge strides in the last few months and everything from the dining experience to activities is just phenomenal!

Have the pleasure of being a part of this community for the past 5 years. The resident population is incredibly close-knit and actively supports each other. Management of this facility is strong and works to improve the quality of living through a variety of services including therapy, activities, nursing and dining. There has been a transition as of late but we will continue to serve this community as a family. BTW, there is no better therapy department! Residents have amazing things to say, just ask!

From reading past comments, I was concerned about moving my mom here. When I found out that they had undergone new management in the last few months, what I was seeing on my visits made more sense. I have been extremely pleased with everything about Harmony at Oakbrooke and the care they have provided for my mom! She has only been a resident for about a week on the assisted living side but we can finally breath a sigh of relief knowing she is in good hands. It has been an adjustment period for my mom and us but the entire staff has been nothing short of amazing. It started with Tara working so hard to make accommodations for my mom, to Jennifer being very approachable and involved as the director, to Rachel (director of nursing) working so well with us to understand and ensure my moms needs are met, to Ashley who has become my moms favorite care taker, and to Carl to who has obviously worked hard to ensure the maintenance needs of the building our met. You can tell by walking across the parking lot and through the front door that this staff cares about the facility and it's residents. I can't say enough about how relieved we are to give my mom a better way of living while getting the around the clock care she needs. For my mom to say that everyone has been wonderful, I know for sure things are going well when we are not there because she would not hold back! Thank you to the staff for a wonderful welcome to our next journey!

The care my mother in law in memory care exceeds my expectations. Unfortunately, visiting the memory care unit is impossible. It has a separate locked door to those apartments. The is a button to press but no one answers it.

Understaffed and overpriced. My dad is in the memory unit and his personal hygiene is often ignored, needs a shower, teeth brushed, shave, haircut, clean clothes etc His clothes disappear and his room often is not clean much less checked. When you report problems you get excuses and nothing changes. Management is not empathetic.

I can't say enough about how friendly the residents and staff are at Harmony of Oakbrooke. The facility has really large rooms and lots of common areas. I cannot imagine a better community for a loved one to live, food is great, smiles everywhere!!

I must give my updates. The new Director brought in more staff for the weekly cleanings. The Chef stepped up and improved the presentation and the taste of all the food! However, they have gone against their written visitation policies. I was told that there are no time limitations for my visitors before I moved in. However, the new Director told me that visitation is from 7am to 9pm. This rule still makes me have to move. Someone must be able to access me; at all times! It costs thousands of dollars for me to relocate too.

This is a beautiful community. The atmosphere is warm and peaceful. It feels like home. There's a great group of people who really care about the wellbeing of the residents here. The teamwork is second to none. Everyone pulls together and makes the vision happen .

The home was having a staffing shortage when my husband and I were there. I was suppose to have assistance transferring my husband from bed to wheelchair, assistance giving him a shower twice a week, assistance getting him to the toilet etc. None of this occurred. Call lights took 40 minutes to answer. The staff they did have was EXCELLENT but they just didn't have enough. My husband was transferred to the Memory Care Unit and I gave a 30 day notice and now I am having trouble getting reimbursed for money I think is owed me, as my husband soon after died soon after being transferred. We should be due a refund for his stay. I don't want to get a lawyer involved but it will be two months soon since my husband passed away and the executor of his estate is trying to get everything settled. It doesn't seem like this should be a problem.

I am greatly appreciative of the team at Harmony at Oakbrooke!! Retirement Communities across the country have struggled with COVID-19 and the families even more so!! This has been a very challenging time!! However, I feel that Harmony at Oakbrooke has truly done a great job with what they are dealing with!! I commend their staff, team, and management in their efforts to find positive and encouragement needed to keep moving forward!! I also give the families and residents much respect as they work through these difficult times!! You are ALL HEROS that wear scrubs and have hearts that always give everyday!!Praying that you all continue to find strength, peace, and, yes, even joy!! Keep up the amazing work!!

My dear grandma is in the memory unit . We looked all over Hampton Roads for a place for her to go and this place is wonderful!!! First of all, thank you to the entire staff of Harmony at Oakbrooke!! My grandmas attitude has flipped 180 since shes been living under your care and its because of you! She told me she finally feels safe and thats something I never thought I would hear her say. Its hard to trust people these days and I truly feel like I can trust everyone there to provide her with the best care. If youre in need of assistance with a loved one, I highly recommend you check in with Harmony at Oakbrooke! They know exactly what to do and will be there for you every step of the way.

My father is a resident here and he couldnt be in better hands. Because of the Corona virus visiting him hasnt been possible for a while. But the staff have made it possible for his friends and family to visit at his window and assisted him with calling family and friends. Thanks to the entire staff for going above and beyond.

I would like to applaud the leadership of Harmony at Oakbrooke and the entire team members under that leadership!After the death of my dad and brother over a year ago , my mother was in a physical and emotional collapse. After a few months of trying to maintain and give the appropriate care needed for mom, we all knew ( including mom) that a better alternative was needed.After the initial meeting with the representatives of the facility, we all knew this was the appropriate place for her.....and this has been proven beyond our expectations!Since being there, the entire staff has provided 24 hour care in all levels by the fantastic medical team and others associated for the care of mom. The professionalism and sincere love shown for her has initiated a reciprocal feeling of love and care as a new family!I would recommend this facility for anyone in need of independent, assisted, or memory care.Again, the entire team and its leadership will surpass your expectations and give you a feeling of security for your loved one in need!

Staff has made it very difficult to visit a friend in the Harmony unit. They have restricted hours and force family and friends to arrive only before or after meals and basically be locked in during meal hours sometimes last nearly two hours. Very inflexible. Worth noting staff has amended above policy and now will have receptionist take families back to visit during meals. Harmony staff is attentive and helpful. Hopefully this change will work.

Going to be the number one assisted living in Virginia. Spacious rooms has elevators. Nice wide hallways and staircase.very large building plenty of deer to see from the windows. And close to shopping.

I liked what The Crossings will be offering at their Oakbrooke facility. I am interested in their independent living area & put down a deposit on one of their floor plans. I cant wait until January when I will be able to see the real thing.Seniors that are ready to downsize & not have to worry about all the responsibilities that comes with owning a house, should go take a look at The Crossings at Oakbrooke.
