This is a nice facility. Big open living room where the residence all gather to watch TV. They all look so content. We had a great experience with the team at Avalon. Starting with the corporate office, Sarah helped us understand the difference between skilled nursing and dedicated memory care. We opted for the dedicated memory care that Avalon offers. Sarah won our confidence with her knowledge and compassion. It has been the best decision. Ashley met us in person and answered all of our questions before we even asked them! The home is comfortable and clean and the staff is kind and joyful. Our loved one is cared for and has adjusted very well. I highly recommend Avalon!

When my wife could no longer be cared for at home, we had to make the difficult decision. After seeing many nursing homes we decided a dedicated memory care was the best option & have been more than satisfied… Sarah, in the corporate office was patient and really listened to our needs, she gave us confidence we were making the right choice. Ashley met us on our first visit and answered all our questions and continues to be a constant contact for us, always available!! The home smells clean every time we are there. Patient to caregiver ratio is great! When we visit, our loved one is clean, relaxed, and actually engaging in the activities! She's adjusted well and is well cared for, this is evident to all who go and visit her. The cost is very reasonable as well! We love Avalon.

Avalon Memory Care on Grant Rd exceeded any and all expectations, thanks to Ashley and Karen. From the care, respect, and food the staff and all is beyond awesome. Not only is it a memory care facility but staff treats and includes you as family, with a homey environment. Best decision we made as a family to move facilities after having a horrible experience previously with Villa South Memory Care.

It was the hardest decision to move my dad to a facility. I worked with PJ Goeke to find the best place. Avalon is one of the places we toured and I knew from the first visit that I preferred this location. And it has proved to be a great choice. I visit weekly and I can tell that my dad is happy and well cared for. He is smiling and content and I know he is safe and that is everything! The staff are amazing and treat the residents with kindness and compassion (and dance parties)! So thankful for all of them. Unfortunately I don't yet know all of the staff by name yet but Ashley and Carolyn are amazing to the families and residents!

I love Avalon! We moved Mom here from a Brookdale facility that was clearly about the money, and not about caring for their residents. BEST decision we made! This is a hard road to go down, and lots of decisions. And you just hope you're making the right ones, much less the BEST ones. But this was definitely a winner! Highly recommend Avalon. They were wonderful to Mom right to the very last breath she took! I miss everyone there. I've wanted to go back by just to say hi to everyone. But it's just too hard right now. Maybe soon! I loved everyone working there. And they were so loving to my mom! Can't give them enough stars! Go by and check it out and see if it's right for your loved one.

When we were considering long term memory care for my mother, one of the most appealing qualities was definitely the set monthly rate while other facilities started with a base rate and added fees for different services. We also loved the overall appearance of Avalon. The interior design is very much like a someone's home, not a typical nursing facility. We were able to furnish my mother's private room with some of her furniture to make it more like her home. My mother always commented that the food was delicious. I know it always smelled good if I happened to be there at meal time. The common areas were kept clean and tidy. Her room was cleaned daily and her laundry done in a timely manner. The staff immediately made my mother feel welcome and helped her with her transition to Avalon. They were excellent in notifying me with updates on my mother's needs or health concerns. I always witnessed friendly, attentive, and caring interactions between the staff and my mother. They absolutely adored her and I will always be grateful for the care they gave her during her stay.

The Avalon on Grant Road took care of my sister-in-law who had Lewy Body Dementia. Every single staff member I worked with was WONDERFUL!! Every single one of them!! They cared for my sister-in-law like she was their family AND they cared for ME like I was their family!! This place is one of the cleanest, most professional environments for memory care that I have EVER seen! We are considering memory care for a family member at this time. It is not an easy decision whatsoever... Not an easy decision at anytime in life but especially during a pandemic!!! I met with the Administrator who treated my family as if we were her own and it is because of her professionalism, knowledge , and downright human decency that we will be able to make the best decision for our loved one during these tragic times we are all dealing with right now. I want to preface this by saying that I am a nurse who has worked in several facilities analogous to Avalon, so I know what to expect and what to look for. I toured Avalon, along with several other Houston area memory care facilities with the intention of moving my mother into one. If you are reading this review, please know that you will not find a better facility for your family member than Avalon. This place is above and beyond anything I had experienced in both my nursing career and in conducting my tours and interviews. I was completely blown away by the facilities, the staff, management, everything. I spoke several times over the phone with Meg and arranged an in-person tour. She was extremely accomodating and helpful throughout the entire process, considering I was touring from out of town. The facility itself is beautiful and unbelievably clean. Please understand that this is NOT a nursing home. This is a community. And the people here are NOT treated like patients, they are treated like family. The staff, without knowing who I was, all greeted me, were very friendly and were constanly attentive to the residents present during my tour. Not a single one of the residents appeared disheveled or unkempt. This was the only facility I toured where this was the case. After my tour, Meg sat down with me and answered all of my questions. She explained the process to me, what to expect and how life is at Avalon and I can honestly say, I couldnt have been more impressed by her. In all my tours and meetings with administrators, never did I get to interact with someone as kind, competent and courteous as Meg was. She truly was a gem throughout this whole process. I never once felt pressured and when I left, I did so knowing that if I moved my mother to Avalon, she would be very well taken care of. I cannot overstate how impressed I was by this community.

My aunt is a current resident at the Avalon. I am pleased that we have found a place where she can feel at home. I have found a place that understands the ups, downs, and variety of behaviors that comes along with Alzheimers and a place where the caregivers sincerely are fond of and are very caring for their extended family members and residents.The caregivers pay close attention to their residents and my aunt has not had any trips or falls while in the care of the Avalon. The caregivers are also able to identify when their residence are not feeling well and are good about notifying me with regard to any changes with her. This is important to me as individuals with Alzheimers are not always able to articulate when they are not feeling well, and I can rest easy knowing that the caregivers at the Avalon know their residence well enough to identify subtle changes that may require medical attention.The atmosphere is calming and the family home environment provides a serene and peaceful living situation that is important as to not overstimulate or overwhelm individuals with dementia and the smell of the home cooked food coming from the kitchen is always welcoming.My aunts room is always clean and the back patio provides a nice place for the residence to sit and get fresh air and for family visits. I would highly recommend the Avalon for anyone looking fo a home like environment for their loved one.

I am so grateful for the care Avalon has given my mom, and the peace of mind they have given me. Avalon came highly recommended at a time when I was desperate to find a safe place for my mom. Meg was wonderful, and I was able to tour, ask questions, and get my mom moved in within a few days of my initial contact. Avalon is relatively new and very nice and is set up more like an actual home than a facility, with a central great room (fireplace, television, recliners), kitchen, dining area, and rooms off of short hallways. The caretakers are kind, communication is good, and I am confident that my mom is getting great care. An added bonus is that you have access to various services like a doctor, podiatrist, and dentist who come to the community, so you dont have to take your loved one out, which has been especially helpful during the Covid-19 quarantine. Obviously, choosing a Memory Care Facility for a family member is a difficult decision, but Im so thankful for Avalon and the care theyve provided for my mom.

My dad has dementia and lives at Avalon. The people there are so nice! Especially Meg! She has been so great helping me out with my dad. He enjoys his room and always has a great attitude when I come to visit him. The facility is very clean and organized. The medical staff are very courteous and communicate with our family very well when it comes to his medicine. My family and I were looking for a facility for my mother who has Dementia. We were recommended by our doctor to look into Avalon Memory Care. I recently went to tour the community and was very pleased. The staff was very welcoming and the facility just felt like a home. The management greeted me at the door and was very attentive to my needs which made me feel very comfortable. When I started walking around the facility the aroma of cookies was in the air and the residents were doing activities at the table. This pleased me because my mother is very social and loves the interaction. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The showers were amazing. The outdoor patio area was very welcoming. This will be my top choice when I am ready to choose a community.

My dad has very difficult, complex diagnoses of a movement disorder and dementia, early onset. Before we even moved in, the management and staff went above and beyond, without hesitation to accommodate his needs. Their attentiveness and kindness and care is more than I couldve ever hoped for. They came highly recommend from his neurologist and other communities who wouldnt take a more challenging resident like my dad. The building and grounds are clean and well staffed and easy to get to from the freeway. Visits and calls from loved ones are welcomed and easy. Were so grateful for everyone there who works to keep my dad safe and comfortable.

Just watching how the staff interacts with the residents warmed my heart. Just like some restaurant waiters are trained to squat to get on eye level with the patron, these workers will look eye-to-eye with these elderly residents and ask them questions or allow them to make choices, or just chat. I saw one caregiver who had two ladies by the hand, and they were just playfully walking back to where they were going to watch a movie.I had forgotten how important smells are to the elderly - and the smell of food cooking starts to encourage their appetite. Most memory cares are attached to assisted living places or independent living, and the food is cooked over there and then brought into the memory care unit on a cart. Here, they cook everything from scratch, and the residents can smell it cooking.Family is welcomed with a smile rather than viewed with suspicion. We moved Dad out of a place where he was not receiving any attention, just because hes less demanding than other residents. Here, they never walk past without saying something pleasant directly to the resident. So glad we could get Dad into Avalon!
