Reviews Brookdale Round Rock
July 2026
Update to my review: I left the review below prior to Brookdale being bought by Pegasus. Since the change, most of the wonderful staff are still there, but the activity director left and has not yet been replaced. This is very frustrating since part of what we are paying for is the organized activities. It has happened multiple times since Pegasus took over that an activity shows up on the calendar but then it doesn't happen after all, probably because there is no one to lead the activity. Also the food is not up to the previous high standard. It's still good, but not as good as it used to be. I don't know if there is a different chef now, or if the food budget has been cut, but it has been very noticeable. Some upheaval is to be expected with a change like this, and given that most of the same staff are there I hope that things will soon resume their previous high level of excellence, but I felt that my previous review was no longer accurate so I wanted to update it. -- My mother moved into Brookdale several months ago. The staff are excellent, and I would highly recommend Brookdale. Our first contact was with Haley, who gave us a tour and patiently answered all my questions. She kindly arranged for my mother to attend several activities. This was a great help, so that when my mother moved in later, she had already met some of the other residents and was a little familiar with the building. Erica organizes the activities at Brookdale, and she does an amazing job. The activities are tailored to the interests and abilities of the residents. There is no pressure to join in, but if you want to, there is always lots to do. If my mother doesn’t show up for an activity that she usually attends, Erica notices her absence and will go knock on her door to see if she would like to come. The residents love Erica and she truly seems to care about them too. Any time I visit, the residents all seem to be happy. Most of them use walkers, and you might think they couldn’t do very much, but they have art classes, book club, live music entertainment, Friday happy hour, chair exercise classes, restaurant outings, bingo and other games, culinary club, and more. I once showed up when they were playing Wii Bowling. As each resident took their turn, Erica reminded them to lock the wheels on their walker and hold it with one hand while they bowled. The other residents would clap and cheer as each person took their turn. John is another employee who clearly cares about the residents. When he sees a way to be helpful, he steps right up before you even ask. When he saw my mother having a little trouble getting out of a rocking chair, he was immediately by her side to assist. When my mother goes upstairs to play games with her friends in the evening, she occasionally turns the wrong way off the elevator, but John is familiar with her routine and kindly takes her in the right direction. When he noticed us looking in the puzzle cabinet for a jigsaw puzzle to do together, he not only told us that there was another puzzle cabinet a bit further down the hallway, but he also returned a few moments later with a puzzle for us. John is always kind and patient and helpful, a real treasure. I could go on and on. Wanda, the concierge at the front desk, is unfailingly helpful. The chef is excellent, and my mother always enjoys her meals. Even the young man who came to empty the trash one day was very thoughtful – he had not seen my mother in the dining room at lunch time and checked to make sure that she had eaten lunch. My mother didn’t really want to move away from her house and into assisted living, but once she moved in she soon started having fun and said that she didn’t want to leave. She feels safe and happy there, and I know that she is well cared for. A big thank you to everyone at Brookdale!

I recently visited my mother-in-law during the community’s annual Christmas party, and I was so impressed. The facility felt incredibly warm and inviting, especially decorated for the holidays, and the food was delicious. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcomed and comfortable. I had the chance to speak with one staff member who shared that he has been there for over ten years, which really speaks volumes—you don’t see that kind of longevity very often. It’s clear that this is a place where both residents and staff are valued. I’m very glad my mother-in-law is living here and feel confident she’s in great hands.

I visited Brookdale Round Rock looking for a place for my mom. Erin showed me around and answered my questions. I could see straight away that her (and the staff's) main concern was for the residents there. The tour showed me what a wonderful option this would be for my 91 year old mother. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff, management and dining at this community! Everyone is always smiling and happy! The food is always hot and delicious, a real restaurant style atmosphere. Everyone always seems very happy and very well taken care of. Anyone would be lucky to call this Brookdale home for their loved ones. We were lucky enough to attend an event they were hosting with Elivs, not the real one of course, last week for his Birthday. Boy oh boy did we all have a blast! You could hear the crowd laughing and cheering from the moment you walked into the building. We had such a good time and the food they served was soooo good! I can't wait to attend another event and see what they have in store next! If you are looking for a home for your loved ones I encourage you to check this place out!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Brookdale Round Rock. We needed to find assisted living for Mom rather suddenly. It definitely took us by surprise. We were exhausted and frustrated because we had been to 3-4 facilities that day, but we decided to make one last stop at Brookdale. We were so glad we stopped! My Mom wasn’t happy to be there. She didn’t think she needed to give up her place at independent living. She didn’t make an effort to participate in any activities and didn’t want to meet any new friends. When we talked to her it was always about getting back to independent living. We knew that wasn’t going to happen, but we didn’t argue and told her if she got back to being strong enough to take care of herself, she could definitely go back. We moved her in June of 23 and by December she was in hospice care. She passed away in early January of 24. What amazed us though, was the steady stream of people that came to see her and us in those final days. Both caregivers and residents came by and told us how much they enjoyed my Mom, and how even though she could be stubborn, they loved spending time with and taking care of her. Those last 3 days we watched them take care of our Mom…they were kind, gentle, compassionate and made sure Mom didn’t lose her dignity. Jada, Deneen, Wanda, Terri, Aaron, John, Ms. Kim, Dr Judy, Dominique, Morgan, Kim, Kelly, Nanny, Jessica, caregivers who didn’t even work on Mom’s floor…and I’m sure there are more people that I am not remembering because it was all a blur. There was a steady stream of people coming to tell Mom goodbye…some even cried with us. We are so very thankful to each and everyone of them. My sisters and I will never forget the love they showed our Mom. We cannot recommend Brookdale enough. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Edit to add: Management responded below, but never contacted me to followup in any way. CONS: There were many red flags from the start. First, I was listed as guarantor, which I’d told the marketing director (Terri) upfront I did not consent to. She tried to convince me to sign by falsely claiming that being a “guarantor” didn’t mean committing my own funds. It was very predatory, in my opinion, and I had to be very assertive before they changed it. The executive director (Aaron) said to me, “Most people don’t read the contract.” That assumption seems to drive their financial strategy, at least based on my experience. One charge on the bill was nearly double what Terri told me it would be (approx. $2,300/mo). I was never informed of the increase, contrary to the policies in the contract. Aaron wouldn’t even tell me exactly what the extra charges were for other than “behaviors.” After about 5 weeks and a lot of stressful back-and-forth, I finally received the refund. PROS: My dad received great care from the daytime staff in the memory care unit. Everyone I saw interact with him during the day was kind and patient.
