Reviews Asher Point Senior Living of Austin
March 2026
My husband died 12/28/2024. I was told by the office manager, [name removed], that I would get back January rent prorated for 15 days after move out. My family worked very hard that week, despite planning the funeral, to clean the apartment and get everything out. We vacated the apartment on 1/3/2025. We owed $125 for minor cosmetic damages. Finally on 3/26, I received a check for $372.17. The refund should have been $1463. I emailed [name removed] and she said it was an error and she would talk to the director. On June 6 I was told the policy was 30 days and no additional money would be refunded. I emailed the director, [name removed]. He finally responded in August and then October after I sent another request and denied additional payment. I then emailed him in December asking who I can appeal to and he has not answered. I was told on 2 occasions by [name removed] that it was a 15 day notice and rent would be prorated - that should be honored. After 4 1/2 years there, this is not good business practice.

Assisted living is great place! Desirea has been an absolute god sent when it came to our parent and adjusting to a new place. Desirea would keep us updated and take her time when providing care. Our loved one was heartbroken over the news that she has moved on. Her patience, knowledge and attentiveness to the residents will definitely be missed! Overall, great place but new employees often and hard to keep up with them.

My mother, Lorraine Mossman, is generally happy with the place. However, she does not appreciate the paint job in the hallways and doors only being partly done before the painters moved on to another part of the building. She is especially unhappy with how they left her door, photos attached. She said she even looked around to see if there was some touch-up paint in a can somewhere she could finish the job with. You may have already done this, but if you could reassure her that you are going to finish it all out very professionally. She and I would appreciate that.

My mom was very fortunate to live here for a few months. She had a large, newly renovated apartment for a very good price. It is a very welcoming community and has such a good vibe to it overall. The dining room with table service is really nice, and my mom loved the food (which is saying a lot!). I interacted quite a bit with Michael Salyers, Desmond and Ann before and during Mom's time there, and they were always very attentive and friendly, as well as being genuinely caring people. Michael in particular always went above and beyond for us. Asher Point is so lucky to have those three, although all the staff we interacted with were wonderful. Mom loved living there, and we were so sad she was unable to continue staying there for unrelated reasons.

I toured AsherPoint Senior Living of Austin with my family for myself today. Desmond Hendricks gave a great, thorough tour of the campus. It is a nice facility at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly. I will be considering it as one of the places I will move to in the future. I have lived at Asher point now for 2 months. As with all community living there are adjustments. But they try their best to do some things with excellence. Like their special events. They have Elevated special dinners for a charge one night a month and you can dine wiith food prepared by their Chef Anthony. They are equal or better than any meal you can get at a fine restaurant. He made a Birthday cake of Chocolate Ganache for my son’s 40th birthday party held there that was the best chocolate cake I have ever had using cacao from Ecuador. We had an Oktoberfest there yesterday that was an entire afternoon of wonderful German food and fun. The meal was truly the best German food I have had from the Bratwurst and knockwurst and sauerkraut to the pickled purple cabbage and German potato salad. My son came and enjoyed the food with me. Afterword we had an afternoon of games and an accordion player who was delightful and I even danced with a resident probably 20 years older than me who spun me around - and I don’t dance. All places have there hiccoughs but when it comes to special events Asher does it with excellence.

This is my 3rd (and best) senior facility since my spouse died a few years ago. And it has improved greatly since I moved in over 2 years ago. Both management and full-/part- time employees love their work AND the residents! (And old folks are not always the most easily tolerated!) We have a bus available to take us shopping and on various special outings. The chef and Activities director plan special programs that include food from selected areas. This week we had a guest who brought Australian animals (even a small kangaroo!) to introduce to us! Not the newest facility in Austin, both the apartments and the public areas (inside and outside) are being renovated. I highly recommend Asher Point Senior Living of Austin and look forward to meeting new neighbors here at our dorm!

My job requires me to travel from city to city and state to state. I primarily go to senior living, memory care and assisted living sites. Believe me when I say I have seen many different kinds of staff in these facilities, hands down. I recently visited this facility, and boyyy was I pleasantly surprised! The two different, yet professional, courteous and customer service oriented ladies at the receptionists front desk were the most well rounded, gracious and genuine, down-to-earth ladies I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with in a very long time. That goes for ANY customer service representative I have interacted with in ANY ESTABLISHMENT - not just senior living, assisted living or retirement communities. If I knew their names, I would definitely tip my hat off to these wonderful women. They know what customer service is all about. They didn't give me the "Templated" and "candid" treatment. You know, the autonomous, scripted, fake/pretentious, zero-personality dialogue and greeting. No, sir! They were 100% genuine, which is paramount in facilities like this. However, we all know that the heart of any well maintained establishment is maintenance. I see properties like this a few times a week in my travels, and I was pleasantly surprised with the professionalism, work etiquette, interpersonal relationship and demeanor that Gilbert had with everyone; that includes the staff, the residents and even a nobody like me. Gilbert never, not once, made me feel like my opinions or tasks were not important. When he wasn't going above and beyond for me, he was going above and beyond the clouds for the residents, which I feel is most important. His work hustle and his ethics were unmatched, on a critical level. I have NEVER EVER seen someone work so hard, and enjoy doing it, as much or as efficiently and effectively as Gilbert. I would bet anyone to challenge me, but I would win everytime. Any request or work order that he had, he was on it expeditiously, like "white on rice" sense of urgency. He wasn't doing the tasks just to get them done. Instead, he had a passion about him where he genuinely treated the residents and their requests as if the shoes were on the other foot - then he would approach the task as if he were the resident and what his high expectations would be. There was no work order that was more important than another. Gilbert genuinely wants to see the residents happy, all of their needs met, and ensuring that they are as comfortable as possible, at all times, while at home. If some task was running late or unforseen obstacles occurred during this time, he was on it as quickly as he could to see what could be done to get things moving quickly in the right direction. His communication was flawless; which is a big letdown these days in many businesses. Communication is key to ensure everything is moving smoothly, on the same page; which is another trait of his that I personally found admirable from someone on the outside looking in. He is very aware of what anyone would expect or want from a maintenance Director. But Gilbert.... He doesn't just deliver, he takes ownership, accountability, solves problems (rather than dwelling on it) and has a strong sense of quality and efficiency I just haven't seen anywhere in a very long time. With a maintenance director and front end staff like those here at Asher Point of Austin, the establishment is truly setting the mark and the grading scale very high in comparison to other similar properties - and just customer service experience in general. I can assure you, any resident there now, or looking to make this their next home, cannot possibly be disappointed - HANDS DOWN! If there was a word higher than impressive, I would use it. Great job to Gilbert and the front end staff I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know for a few days. I am just mind blown! Keep up the Great work you all do everyday! Your efforts and day-to-day aren't going unnoticed ’‘ JJ

Excellent neighborhood with a great common areas and beautiful balconies for each room that surrounds an internal green area with mature trees. Great food and staff!

On Easter weekend in 2024, I fell down 4 steps and ended up in ICU. I knew that I needed to find another place to live. I was aware of Austin Renaissence (now Asher Point), toured it & signed up. I am very, very happy here. People are friendly, the food is excellent, & apartments are spacious. Management is very responsive to concerns and always available. I am so glad I moved here!
May 2025
When we moved into what is now Asher Point early in 2023, I described it as like moving into a college dorm-3 nutritionous meals, always with interesting conversations, and someone else to clean the room. Under Asher Point I would describe it as a high quality cruise with bus excursions a little or no extra cost. If all costs of living in the former home are considered, it is less expensive. It is definitely less stressful and more fun.

From the very first point of contact with this senior independent living community over 3 years ago for my dad, we have been treated well. The customer care and business transparency is excellent. The Executive Director, Michael Salyers. Operations Director Belinda Paiz, and Resident Services Director Michele Black have all been so professional, courteous, and very helpful to my dad, and also our dear family friend who moved to the community last year. The apartments are kept nice and the common areas are very attractive and pleasing. My dad's favorite activities include dining with friends in the pretty dining room for three provided meals a day, and working with others on puzzles in the library. We highly recommend Asher Point Senior Living Apartments. It is located in a beautiful area with lots of mature oaks and nice courtyard.

Desmond was our facilitator, and you can tell that he is both really good at his job and truly loves it. He was very comforting to my mom, whose life was turned upside down just days before visiting. The residents were happy and engaging with us as we toured the facility. Rooms are very spacious and well maintained. Looks to be a very good place for your loved ones! More to come....??

The construction workers are blocking the whole road that goes around the complex. When asked what is taking so long they were rude with an attitude. You should have better maintain people.

My mother lived at the Renaissance Austin for the past 2 years on the Assisted Living side. My mother's and my experiences in AL have been absolutely amazing. Jennifer Scott personally checked on my mother several times after mom moved to AL and once even went to the Skilled Nursing Home my mother was staying to encourage her to cooperate with the therapists so she could come back to the Renaissance. Jennifer's care and concern was extended to me as well when she took the time out of her very busy schedule to listen to my concerns. Jennifer is both compassionate and efficient. I never had to worry about the care mom was getting because the aides and med techs were always right on top of mom's physical and emotional needs. It is very apparent none of them consider the job as just a job. Instead they consider it their purpose to work with older people. I don't know all of the aides since I was usually there during the morning shift and sometimes the weekend shift but I know they were excellent. My mother who could be quite verbal about her displeasure never complained about any of them. She often told me the nice extras they did for her. They not only made sure my mother was comfortable, but they relieved my worries about not being there all the time. I have told many of my friends about the experiences I've had at the Renaissance, and they've all agreed that this is not the typical kind of care older people receive in Assisted Living Facilities. I completely agree! Jennifer and the Renaissance AL staff are absolutely superb! Because of them, my mother considered the Renaissance her home- not just a place she had to be.

Wonderful people, staff, and beautiful living spaces.
May 2022
Nice location-horrible sewage smell throughout the wing where the dining room is. When it was mentioned to the staff, she replied, it is an old building & is being looked into AND is not the reason the residents will not have water (a notice we saw, said the residentswould be without water at a scheduled time the next day). Staff had problems returning calls and following through with what they said they'd do (for months, blamed a new computer program for the website not being updated but according to corporate, that was not accurate.)

I toured The Renaissance for assisted living options for my mother last week. Audrey was spectacular and shared a wealth of knowledge not only about Assisted Living, but she answered so many other questions I had about elder care. The Renaissance is an excellent option for anyone looking for either Independent or Assisted Living.

They provided many promises, yet my experience lacked in such areas in accordance of the sales and marketing. I moved in and many things were not actively available upon signing a lease. Fortunately district managers stepped in and fixed the on going problems. I left after 3.5 months. Some problems created some to loose their jobs I was not alone a big group moved out.

I am here at Renaisance clearing out my fathers room and just wanted to take a moment to give a good review to this place. The room is clean and quiet and has a great view out over the trees. My dad was here for the last three months of his life and I think they did a great job taking care of him. The staff is caring and kind and they did all they could for my dad. I would highly recommend this facility.

The Ren is very community oriented, as many of the residents were once upon a time neighbors and friends prior to residing there. It is in a beautiful setting. The buildings are older yet pretty well maintained. Management issues were rampant for a time which is not unusual in this business. The main effect it had on the residents was the loss of friendships with employees who had been there.

This place is gorgeous! The landscaping is lush and colorful. I love sitting on the back porch and soaking it all in. The interior is classicly decorated and smells like cookies (they frequently put out fresh delicious cookies). What I notice most about this community is how friendly the residents are- they all seem really happy. The staff is always kind and helpful. I have been very impressed by how many activities they have going on. They have physical fitness, bingo, weekly happy hours (often with live music) and a annual car show that is awesome!!

The Renaissance is home. A solidly built residence in a beautiful forested are of Northwest Austin, it has larger single bedroom apartments than other residences with nicely appointed kitchens and sizable porches. You never have to go outside to get to the dining room or other activity rooms in hot, cold, or rainy weather. The food served three meals a day is excellently prepared. Exercise and entertainment programs are often and well selected from the Austin community. Security and peace of mind in abundance. The folks living here are pleasant, interesting, and kind. This would be a 5-star rating, but that will come when the proposed renovation is finished.
