Just moved in my mom...Casey and everyone that we met with was great. Nice facility. I will update review after a few weeks. She has been there now for 1.5 years and they do a great job. Mom passed away, and the staff was great and very caring. Great facility and staff. I would highly recommend.

A very amazing place to be. The staff is amazing and truly care for each and every resident. Residents are very friendly and active. Events are planned out for residents to enjoy along with the staff. Management ensures that all staff and residents are taken care of in anyway needed. Would be my first choice for my family members or even myself to live.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge is an amazing facility! They treat their Elderly Residents as if they were their own personal family members. It is all about the family vibes in the facility. And they go way above and beyond their pay grade to provide as much attention and detail as possible! I can't think of a better place to be! Its 'The Vegas of Assisted Living Facilities" in my opinion.

My mother moved into Canterfield in 2018 because of cognitive issues. We chose Canterfield because of the management staff that we met when looking for a suitable assisted living facility. I was extremely impressed with the obvious compassion and commitment that each staff member has for the facility and its residents. From the executive director to the sales director, activities director, finance director, maintenance director and entire maintenance staff, I have been continually pleased with the care that my mother received. The serving staff that work in the dining room is also excellent - they keep track of each resident's likes and dislikes and treat them with the utmost respect. The new food manager has also brought an improved selection of meal choices. I HIGHLY recommend this facility to anyone that is no longer able to live independently.

My grandparents moved here from another facility and I'm so glad they did! As many probably know, food is a critical component to the experience. While my grandparents aren't a huge fan of all the meals, they do appreciate the grab and go option. They also like the choices of things to do! I do wish the staff interacted with the residents a little more though...

By far the best place I have ever worked! I highly recommend this place for your loved ones needs. The staff are very compassionate, loving and very understanding. I had a short time there but I enjoyed every day of it. Each resident has different needs and we worked hard and made sure every resident had their needs met. They are definitely FAMILY to us.

This is a difficult review to write because in many ways we loved Canterfield and were very grateful for the care they provided for both of our parents; however, there are some things that were somewhat concerning that should be considered when making such an important selection for yourself or your parents. I have limited knowledge of the regular assisted living side, but extensive knowledge of the memory care side, which is where my parents stayed. While most of the staff were wonderful and loving and kind to my parents, this was not always true. I joined my parents repeatedly for meals and my parents were very often served immediately and first, my sister and I watched as the resident assistants completely ignored the other residents.....stood in the kitchen, laughing, looking at cell phone pictures and most certainly were not attentive to the needs of the residents. We were disturbed because we were left to make a lot of assumptions. None of the memory care patients can remember to advocate for themselves, so one can assume this to be the reason for ignoring them. Additionally, l made multiple surprise visits where I found my parents' bed sheets covered in faces, with the bed made completely, as if there were no intention to change them at all. I did make several complaints to the administration throughout the time my parents were there, and while the situation was addressed in the moment, the director made excuse after excuse and defended her staff. Additionally, she attempted to blame my dad who did not have memory issues, as well as, tried to bully me into making no additional complaints by involving herself in the inner workings of our family dynamics and going so far as to accuse him of pitting Canterfield staff and I against each other. We still do not understand what their policy and protocol are in terms of checking on residents. My dad died on their watch and all we were told was that it was a "cardiac event." We have questions as to whether or not he may have been saved had they done the alleged checks every 2 hours. I spoke to him on the phone about 9:30, a staff member told me she saw him at 10:00pm, then we got a call at about 1:30am saying he died. So, did someone check on my parents every 2 hours or not? We do not know. I stayed with my mom for 2 nights following the death of my dad and her return from the hospital. I can assure you, when I was there, she was not checked on timely at all. My mother went to the ER a day after my dad passed because she fell. Once at the ER, they informed us that she needed a blood transfusion because she had been bleeding internally for a very long period of time. This was brand new information to us. Again, we had questions because my parents allegedly saw a doctor every Tuesday at Canterfield, and nurses daily, but nobody had any idea that they were on the brink of death. This was extremely suspect and still is. My parents died two weeks a part on the watch of Canterfield. I realize that may not be unusual; however, my mother was 75 and by all accounts in great physical health. The director told me she believed my mother would be around for a while, finish out the year 2018 and well into 2019. My mom passed suddenly and unexpectedly 2 days later. My sister and I followed up as much as possible, and the nursing staff were great, but we never understood the doctor or nurse practitioner who over saw their medical care. We never met them or received return phone calls from them.....ever. My dad passed and Canterfield staff sent beautiful yellow roses. All of the administrators showed up to offer support at his visitation. My mom died on the day of his funeral. We received zero visitors from Canterfield and no flowers at her funeral. We assumed the support for our dad was because he went first and once she was gone, they no longer needed to support us because there would be no additional rent paid. While there were many positive things about Canterfield and some wonderful resident assistants, be aware that it may change unless you have eyes on and follow up.

My mother and my father in law both reside here and love it in addition to receiving excellent assistance. Activities are fun and plentiful. Bingo with prizes, bridge and other games including poker night, movies nightly, game day tailgating, and happy hour every Wednesday just to name a few. They provide transportation as needed and do everything possible to make this HOME for every resident. Absolutely the best senior facility I have ever visited.

Wonderful assisted living facility. My grandparents have been staying there. Ver spacious rooms and your loved ones are kept together in the same room. Lots of activities to ensure your loved ones are entertained. Great home cooked meals an formal dining. Has hair care center with beautician in the building mon-friday a family gatherin room to rent for parties and stuff a movie theater and washer and dryer for the residents along with 3 meals a day for your loved ones and laundry washed 1 time a week with room cleaning 1 time a week with the cost of your loved ones rent. Rent is quite expensive but on the lower end compared to other assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Very caring and kind employees who care about the wellbeing upkeeping and care for your loved ones. They will get well cared for and taken care of. They also provide rides upon sceduling in advance on tues. And thurs. To appointments and errands.
