My Dad has been in the Blake for close to a year. The staff are all very caring. It's been a wonderful place for Dad to call his home.

A year ago, my mom broke her hip. We thought she wasn't long for the world. We knew she would need assisted living if not something more. My husband and I toured it with Tramara, the sales director. We wanted to move in ourselves after the tour! After leaving the building, I group chatted with my siblings. I then called my mom. Everyone was ok with mom moving from Ohio to Tennessee. The waitlist for her large one bedroom was only 3 months. The call came that they were ready for her! A chaotic few days and the move happened. Move in was easy with all the rolling carts and equipment The Blake let us use.. people were stoping by to meet the new resident! She has been there 9 months. She is thriving! Southern peer pressure is a real thing. People sweetly convince you to do stuff you may not want to! If you miss, they seek you out to see what is wrong. My mom now does group fitness 4-5 days a week! She is stronger than she has been in YEARS! Cammie Entrekin is fabulous as social director. She has activities all the time. She loads the luxury mini bus every Monday for a shopping trip (wal-mart, grocery, shoes, Buc-ees, etc) and every Friday they go to lunch. This prevents the building from getting claustrophobic and gives the residents different experiences and opportunity to buy stuff for their rooms. The Blake offers 3 meals a day. Breakfast 7-9, lunch 11-1, dinner 4-6. I am not a fan of the hours since joining for dinner is difficult for working family. Mom would prefer breakfast go to 10 since she likes to be lazy in the morning. There is a daily menu and a we serve this every day menu to choose from for each meal. Activities are often. Bingo or some group game every afternoon in the ice-cream/coffee bar area. There is a book club held in the library. There is the Blake bakers where they bake cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cheesecake, etc. they have margaritas on Monday nights and wine down Wednesday (they give small portions and limit to two drinks!) in the piano bar. They have musical entertainment every week at least once! There are concerts in the courtyard and in the chapel. Church service is at least once a week in their very own chapel. There are movies every night in the theatre! Those chairs are comfy!! They have special family engagement activities like antique car show, Hoe down, Luau, teas, 50's day, and they celebrate every holiday like valentines, StPatrick's, Halloween will have costume contest and trick or treating. Christmas has special dinner and pictures with Santa in the prettiest Santa chair. Easter they have brunch and had a nice brunch for grandparents day! Every Saturday in fall is a tailgate party. Yes, it is a lot and all included with being a resident! No nickel and diming for each event! Now for my personal observations! There is no old smell or antiseptic smell. It just smells clean and fresh. There is free laundry rooms or staff can help with laundry. Staff comes and cleans once a week but empties trash cans two times a day so never anything f li Geri g to smell in the rooms! They have water stations in buffets in every hallway so fruit water or maybe juice or lemonade. There is a fresh fruit bowl at each station. Healthy!!! The staff all chips in to help. The executive director has driven the bus. Sales will help with social. Kitchen staff helps with parties. I have never heard "that isn't my job!" Everyone seems to enjoy their job and are always willing to help. They do have salon for hair and nails on site. They have nurses on duty at all times and Nurse practitioner is there 3-4 days a week. If you don't want to go to a doctor, they will provide care at The Blake. If you need more specialized care or want to see another doctor, the bus/van/car will take you if you can't drive Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. The decorations in the facility are frequently updated to match holiday or season. It is beautiful. This is lengthy but you are making a life choice for you or loved one! The Blake has been wonderful!

I can't say enough good things about The Blake! It is an excellent assisted living facility! My parents have been there since March and the care and assistance they have received is above and beyond our expectations! They have made so many friends, are attending the events and socializing, which has been wonderful for them! The events the Blake provide are phenomenal! Really love how they get everyone out and keep them engaged. The staff is absolutely exceptional! Everyone we have encountered has been friendly helpful and goes above and beyond to help make sure residents as well as guess have a pleasurable experience. Having my parents at such a wonderful facility is very comforting and gives me peace of mind knowing they are receiving such good care with everything they need in the way of food, medicine, therapy, medical care and their family atmosphere. The Blake promotes a loving family atmosphere far above any assisted living facility we've encountered. I highly recommend them!!
October 2024
I highly recommend The Blake as a place to either retire or if you need assistance in your daily life. The food is excellent (I know first hand, activities for everyone to participate in, and caring and loving staff to care for you or your loved one. There are also lots of perks to living there. Check it out!! And, lots of outside entertainment during every season.. My husband is currently in the Memory Care side and I know he is safe, well cared for and he is content and happy. I am so happy that we found the Blake when we needed this kind of assistance.
October 2024
My mother-in-law is currently living in the Memory Care part of The Blake, and we could not be more pleased with her care. The staff is friendly to both her and our family. She always says she is comfortable and well taken care of. She enjoys the activities they have and says the food is very good. We are so pleased with how happy she is and with the care she receives.

The Blake is a great place to live! All of the staff, from the administration, care takers, concierges, dining, cleaning and maintenance, are wonderful and friendly, and knows each resident by their first name. They take the time to get to know the residents, and keep the residents engaged and entertained with lots of great activities and outings. Jake and Tramara were very helpful in getting our loved one in and settled quickly. We are very thankful for the safe, comfortable and loving environment the staff at the Blake provides.
October 2024
The Blake at Kingsport is the best facility in the area! I can speak from personal experience that the staff really care for their residents and have a true passion for them. They keep the residents engaged and entertained with all the wonderful activities throughout each month.
October 2024
The Blake has once again allowed me to be a daughter instead of care giver. After taking over full-time care of my dad following my mom's death, we realized we simply weren't able to provide him the care and attention he needed. The Blake had welcomed us in with open arms and we are thrilled with our experience so far. Every time I visit Dad he is happy and telling me about someone or something about his day. Dementia has robbed us of precious memories, but to know he is getting to make new ones that brings him joy is such a blessing. The facility and staff are top notch and I highly recommend The Blake.

The staff has worked hard to make my Mom at home considering that she has lived by herself for the last 30 years. The family is very pleased with the care and attention she has received during her short stay so far.
May 2023
The Blake at Kingsport has been wonderful to my mom since she arrived in late Oct 2022. They worked hard to get her in and worked quickly with her doctors to ensure she could get in within 4 days. They have went above and beyond with her constant requests to change rooms now that she can move to Assisted Living instead of Memory Care. Hoping mom can stay there until she graduates.
December 2022
I am so grateful for the staff at The Blake. When my mother was navigating her move, everyone was so helpful and sensitive to her needs. Tramara Darnell, Director of Sales, walked us through the application process, moving in details, and everything in between. My mother is now more active and social than she has been in years. She comments daily that various staff members have helped her in some way or have stopped by to say hello and check in on her. Our family is so thankful that Mom is in a safe, comfortable, and active environment such as this.

I can't begin to adequately express how absolutely delighted I am to be a part of the Blake family... and it is a family! My husband is so happy there and feels secure, thanks to all the fabulous caring staff. It is because of every one of the staff that the entire community is excellent in every respect... the personal attention, the activities, the food, the medical care... and the list goes on! They are a loving bunch, and it shows in every way! Kingsport is so fortunate to have The Blake as a choice for seniors!
