I am not happy with how things are being done at American House in Kingsport, TN. On the weekend there is hardly anyone to work such a big unit. If you do not have a person in charge you have a lot of Indians and no Chief. The nurses are good to follow the rules but not all of them. They are to stay with the person until they have taking their meds. My mother has very large pills to take with supper. Last night at supper they gave her pills and glass of water with mostly ice. This person did not stay while she took her pills and she did not have enough water to get them down. She had to bang on the table to get the nurse and it was the people who live there that screamed she needs water. Also her bath is a great deal of the time missed. There is more but you get the picture. They need a leader. very unhappy !

My mother has been in Elmcroft/American House Kingsport for two years. Within that time frame 5 executive directors abruptly came and left, while staff remained basically the same. An organization cannot function to its highest capability with these many changes in leadership in this short amount of time. However, with present leadership, I can see a focus on improving, while listening to feedback and executing positive change. I do like and respect everyone there and they have been good to us.

I am not an employee at American House, but I have a client there. I am his caregiver and I come 3 times a week, five hours each day. The staff and nurses are very kind. The residents enjoy bingo many times during the week and get prizes like candy, toiletries, etc. when they win and pick what want. They often have people who sing come play for the residents. They always have activities set up everyday, Bible study, sitting exercises, bingo, games, art, etc. They are served 3 great meals a day and have other options if something is not what they want to eat. There is also a memory care unit for people who need extra care. They have recently remodeled and it is very nice with calming colors, decorations. They have great gatsby dances, Halloween, Christmas parties, birthdays, and go traveling to places in the community van. One time the activities director took my client and others to chop house. So much fun. I love it here. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to help with the care of their loved one.

Hello Everyone, We moved in two weeks ago and of course this is a big change in our life. So far we would like to tell everyone we enjoy AH. The staff are so very nice to help us anytime and quickly when we need them. We also like the food and events. My wife loves to play bingo! The staff also cares about us this is very obvious! We consider this a privledge at plus 90 years old to be taken care of so well. Thank you AH and also our children for helping us.

My brother is a resident at this facility in Kingsport, TN. We live two hours away but chose this facility for its amazing care. He stayed there about 5 years and we moved him closer home. It was a terrible decision! His meds were changed and he was not receiving good care. We begged for him to return to American House. He’s been back 5 years and is doing soooo well! The medical care he receives is awesome! We will never move him again. These people are so kind, caring and compassionate. There are wonderful activities and nutritious meals. I recommend it highly!

My mother has been a resident of American House (formerly Elmcroft) for 8 years. She loves it there! The aides are kind and caring toward her, always attentive to her needs; they treat her like she's their mother. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and it is truly home to her. For me, the staff is easy to work with and talk to. I definitely recommend American House. I wouldn't want my mom anywhere else!

My father was a resident here in the memory care unit in Kingsport, TN. for two years until his recent passing. There were some trying times in a facility dealing with Dementia patients, but the staff was always patient, and dealt with the residents in a thoughtful, caring and even a loving way. So, thanks and adulation to your entire staff, along with specific and personal thanks to three who provided explicit personal services to and for my father; Yolanda, Kesley and Caleb provided exemplary care, and concern for my father in a loving way that made him feel to home. Our hope is that they will be recognized for going above and beyond normal care giving.

Communication with staff and Communication to me, is very poor. I'll be honest, we loved this place for my Aunt at first. Thought it would be perfect for her. However, she's been there less than 6 months and price has already increased by a significant amount. The food is lacking taste, veggies are often served cold and not thoroughly cooked. My concerns for my aunt are great. Especially at night. When a resident is injured and needs emergency care, somebody should be there within a couple of minutes.For the price my Aunt is paying, I would expect stellar care. That is not happening.

I've been to several events that American House has hosted and the food is always exceptional and the staff always go above and beyond for their residents.

It's my honor to be a part of this amazing community. The food is delicious with each month a luncheon from a different country. Last month was Germany, this month was Italy. There are at least five activities per day and wonderful events. We just had Trick or Treaters visit us, have an incredible Veteran's Day planned and working on a Thanksgiving Banquet for our residents, families and friends. I feel blessed to work for such a giving and loving community.

I don’t often do reviews, but when I see exceptional service that I don’t see elsewhere, I have to. From the time you enter American House Kingsport you immediately find a warm place that feels like home. Residents love to gather by the fire place and there’s refreshments waiting on you when you arrive. Also, it smells good in there! Not like some places you visit. My family always complements how great the food is. They serve the food restaurant style. It’s great! People should really give this place a shot. They have some new management there and they are some of the nicest people you will meet! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Management here is extremely kind and helpful. The food looks delicious, and I absolutely love the Bible study that they hold every day. Everyone here seems so happy. It is definitely a warm and welcoming environment. I couldn't recommend this place more!

My sister entered American House, Kingsport, TN, two weeks ago. Because of her confusion, she continues trying to leave in order to be with her beloved, yet deceased, husband. In carefully-implemented, incremental steps, the staff at AH is committed to help her acclimate to her new surroundings. On Day 1 her daughter and I noted the warm, inviting family atmosphere of AH, and that observation has been realized during each day and through each staff member. I could include many more positive comments, but for now I will just say, "Thanks be to God for American House, Kingsport, TN.

Elmcroft is the best..my Dad absolutely loves it.I was so worried how he would adjust but all the staff are wonderful and even during this pandemic Darlene has kept them busy. He tells me everyday how glad he is I found this place..The food must be good, he has gone up 3 sizes in jeans in the year and a half hes been there...Thank you Sandra...Margaret..Darlene..and the rest of the staff for taking such good care of my Dad (JimSexton)You have all truly been a godsend❤❤❤
