I had a incident that required me to go for short term rehab but after I was done, I realized I could not return back home independent. The rehab social worker mentioned personal care which I was nervous and reluctant about but really had no other option. I chose Oakwood Residence and since arriving a few months ago I am now very happy I did choose to come. The staff is very understanding and offers emotional support when I need it, I have made many new friends here and attend lots of cool activities. My favorite activity is bowling. Every week they have a different entertainer who is always fun. I do recommend anyone looking to come.

When it was time to find a place for my sister, my brother and I tour many of assisted living facilities. We went to Oakwood and immediately knew this was where we would feel comfortable with the hard decision we had to make for our sister's care. We had many questions that were answered, Heather Ford held our hands and walk us through the process. Heather was and still is our guardian angel. My sister is thriving and enjoying the many of activities, enjoys being with the other residents. She is well fed and taken care of. I cannot express how lucky we are to have Oakwood and Heather to lean on. Oakwood is the BEST ! Thank you

I received a call from their admissions girl following up on a referral she got from senior service. Once I explained my mother's situation she identified she needs a nursing home and not personal care . I told her I agreed and that is why I called the service to help me but kept only getting calls from assisted livings. What was different about Heather than the other places who called is that she didn't just hang up , she asked me some questions to figure out how to proceed with finding a nursing home since the one they have connected at her building to too far away. She learned there are monies so gave me the names and education on seeking help from an elder care attorney so they can help me with the spend down and then with a Medicaid grant when her funds are gone . She gave me tons of education, emotional support and then her phone number saying if she came across any questions to call her and she will try to answer for me . She knew so much and simply made me feel happy with her compassion so wanted to share with others .

My grandmother spent 5 months at Oakwood and I truly loved it there for her. It's such a hidden gem. The facility is very clean and kept up with. You will often see maintenance consistently working on projects or updating things. Her room was often cleaned and taken care of. The staff is very friendly and kind. They were always welcoming and learned our names. They paid close attention to my grandmother and learned my her behaviors. They were also very patient with her. Constance, the head nurse, was great to work with. The nurses and assistants were on top of everything. Nochum, the director, was helpful and listened to me when I needed assistance. The facility offers a variety of activities throughout the day for residents to participate in. Unfortunately, my grandmother never had the drive to be a part of them. The live music was excellent! They do movies, games, exercise, and even trips. Joanne in the hair salon is wonderful! Super friendly and a great person. The only reason we left was because it was not a great fit for my grandmother. She needs more care than what she was getting. Highly recommend for those who need some assistance with daily living but also have the will and drive to live, function, and socialize with others!

My mom has actually thrived at Oakwood. She had a group of ladies from day 1 take her under their wing, she participates in the daily activities, she enjoys herself. Oakwood is taking good care of her. Liz and her staff are amazing with their care. I am just very happy with how my mom is treated there.

I highly recommend Liz and her staff. I work for a company that comes across many people who need to transition into senior / assisted living. On several occasions , Liz has come to the property and assisted with the move. I have witnessed her compassionate approach and detailed explanation to family members on this life changing move. There have been several difficult situations and Liz has always been there every step of the way. When this difficult situation arises , consider Oakwood as a choice for your loved one. We moved a family member into Oakwood a couple of months ago and have been very pleased with it so far. The staff is thoughtful and on top of details, and seem to care about the residents. The facilities are nothing fancy, but pleasant and quite reasonably priced for what such places cost these days. Our relative is content there and we feel fortunate to have found Oakwood for her.

You cannot pay for the level of care our loved one has received here. We had some concerns with the room on the initial move-in, but they were addressed quickly. Our loved one has expressed that she absolutely loves both the residents and staff. She was on the mend when she moved in just before the new year 2024 and has made tremendous progress since then. We are immensely grateful.

My mom lived at Oakwood Residence for 7 years until she passed away Jan. 2024. I can not praise Oakwood Residence enough. Staff and administration were superb. My mom was very happy there and was treated with respect and wonderful care.

Outstanding facility. I knew that from day 1 when I first went there with my neighbor to help her find her an assisted living home where she would be treated properly and respectful and Oakwood is that place hands down. My aunt was cared for at Oakwood Residence for the last 6 months of her life. I couldn’t ask for a better facility than Oakwood. Every single member of the staff cared for her like she was a member of their own family. They became like family to us. Oakwood is truly a hidden gem of Northeast Philadelphia. If you are looking for a friendly, loving and caring environment for your family member this is the facility.

Oak wood is great place to place your loved ones. The staff is great so is the nurses and the administrators. It’s clean lots of activities to do. You can go outside for a walk .you can come and take your loved one to the stores or a diner. I love this place.

My mother-in-law has been a resident of Oakwood for 3 years. She is well-taken care of, and content. Years prior, her mom lived there, as well. They have many activities and celebrations to help with socialization and mental stimulation, as well as necessary care.

I have been exceedingly pleased with the professionalism of the nursing staff and administration. They seem to go out of their way to address the physical and emotional needs of the residents.
