My parents are in this facility. I visit them often, and I come at all hours of the day: morning, afternoon, and night. I have been able to see up close how this facility is ran. I am impressed by the level of care my parents receive and I adore the staff. I come so often that I know pretty much everyone who works there by name. I am comforted that my parents are here. Both of my parents have also expressed that they enjoy living in this community.

I work in hospice, and this is one of my favorite communities to visit. The staff work hard, the residents are always doing activities. I just stopped in and someone was playing music, on the piano to a large crowd, and residents were even dancing. They might not be the newest community, but I am super impressed by how hard the staff try to enrich their residents lives.

This facility really could be run a lot better. The executive director has no respect for the morale of the staff or the clients and often blames staff for her own shortcomings and the decisions she has made. The staff is overworked and shorthanded. Despite this they do their best and genuinely care for the quality of care the clients receive.. This facility would greatly benefit from a replacement director.

The unusually tenured staff including the Executive Director, Nurse, caregivers and housekeeping are loving, kind, respectful and gracious. Karen Ekhert's robust experience with dementias and cognitive impairment is rare in this industry and I trust her direct approach and thoughtful judgement. Fantastic Staff and Great Facility!! My mother has been a resident at the Brookdale Memory care facility located in Troutdale Oregon since February 2019. From the time my mother became a resident I have called the facility nearly every day to talk to my mother. Over the last two years I have gotten to know many of the staff members very well. They have always taken the time to speak with me, give me the daily update regarding how my mother is doing and find the best place in the facility to speak with her. My siblings live in the Portland area and visit whenever time allows and they both feel the same way I do and have shared with me the same positive experiences. I live on the east coast and have not been able to visit in person because of COVID. Renee (Facility Director) and her team have set up a weekly Zoom meeting so that I can see my mother while I speak with her. I feel the Brookdale team has done a tremendous job monitoring and taking care of my mother. Since becoming a resident her memory has been in a steady decline. However in that time she looks better, always seems to be very happy and I feel her overall health has gotten better. I feel the Brookdale staff have been the key to my mother’s health and safely. I consider many of the staff member friends and extended family members. I thank God every day we found this facility.

trying to get anyone that works there to call you back is impossible. My mother was a resident and while she was there Covid happened. They were short staffed and I was not able to even see her room. I was able to visit her in person a week before she fell and broke her hip and passed away. At the time of visit, I notified them her hair looked as if she hadn't showered in weeks as it was very greasy. Also, her toenails had NEVER been clipped. I heard very defensive excuses that weren't true. Because of this lack of basic care, I have to wonder at the rest of her care.

My father was at this facility twice. The first time was for emergency respite care when I had to deal with my husband's sudden death across the country. Ann-Marie made the process pain-free as much as possible while during my greatest time of need. My father stayed with Brookdale for one month until I was ready to resume my caregiving role with him. During the month he was there, the staff took excellent care of him. I know this since while I was away, my son would visit every couple of days in my absence during those two weeks I could not. Then, on my return, I would be visiting and witnessed the love and care the staff had for my father. Six months after I returned to my caregiving role while grieving my husband's death, we had major flood damage to our home. I went back to Ann-Marie and immediately she remembered my fathers first name and mine. I knew then that we were not just another caseload. I had to re-admit my father there. This time for the remainder of his days which would be approximately 18 months. I always visited him often and never saw any amiss in his care. The staff became my second family as well as for my father. Their support for family members is strong here. I was always informed of anything important in my father's caregiving needs by the head nurses. Monthly phone calls updated me on any changes in his behavior or health concerns we needed to address. Never did I see any signs of neglect by the staff here to any of the caree's they were overseeing for family members. There were well planned activities for all ranges of dementia care. The staff would work overtime if needed to make sure the caree's got their care needs met.They had weekly meetings with the staff so all the caregiving staff could have a unified plan of care for the clients. Plus the staff had training available to further their caregiving abilities. Up to my father's last day, the staff treated my father with the utmost respect. Even giving me time alone with him to grieve his passing until I was ready to call the crematory. I can only highly recommend this Brookdale in Troutdale for their excellent memory care for those in need.
