We have wonderful,caring,hard working care partners at artis of bridgetown.i have hesitated to praise one of these carpenters because I see caring people performing thoughtful acts every day,however I would like to let you know about a carepartner who I believe went above to care for her residence of betts.her name is amanda. A thoughtful family member brought in lysol spray,. This time of year there is virus that spreads quickly and causes residence to become ill stomach virus. Amanda took upon the task of cleaning tables chair,and surfaces in the dinning room,fben cleaned every door know of the residents rooms.amanda is an outstanding care person and we love caring for our loved ones.God bless you Amanda and thank you for the trust we have for you.joe kolks

Just slightly over a year since my wife became a resident, I am still impressed with everything. We are beyond the "honeymoon" period where if there were warts they start showing. They live up to their name which is an acronym of their mission. R stands for Respecting and Maintaining Relationships. Every employee knows the name of every resident and with sixty-four residents (living in four internal communities of 16) that is impressive. And that leads to the T - Treasuring Each Person’s Uniqueness. Not only does every staff member know each resident as an individual addressing them by their first name, but they also know which of the four internal communities they live in and how to communicate with each individually. The facility within has no boundaries other than the secured visitor's entrance. Residents can freely move internally and weather permitting on the over six acres of fenced-in grounds with walking paths, umbrella tables and chairs, covered roofs over lounge furniture, etc. They have independence that allows them to participate in activities if they want, go for a walk if they do not want to take part, or sit in the comfort of the living room shared by the other fifteen residents in their unit. Maintaining relationships: staff know all the regular visitors and their visiting habits. They will reassure my wife that I will be there to visit when she asks, thereby relieving any anxiety she may have at the time. With dementia, she has no concept of time, so the reassurance is all she wants. They never set a time or day but in a reassuring tone let her know I would be visiting soon. What is more impressive is they also know the first names of all her regular visitors. The staff greets visitors by their first names and knows where we can find the resident when we come to visit. They could be anywhere inside or outside the facility and there is no type of electronic monitoring of them. Staff gain that knowledge constantly circulating in the spaces and observing and remembering what is happening. That staff member could be an aide in their unit, an activity aide, a member of the nursing staff, or a member of management. I never see “that’s not my job attitude.” They work as a team, and they pitch in as needed whether it is their job or not. Resident's needs are addressed immediately.

Artis is an exceptional place. The facility and grounds are clean, bright, and well decorated. The staff takes great care of the residents, with creative and fun activities and field trips. My Aunt was a resident for her last couple of years. She was well cared for. I volunteer there, playing the piano for their weekly church service and enjoy seeing the residents and working with the activities staff.

They build relationships with the residents. My dad has been more content than he has in years, as his care is predictable and his needs are fully met. The culture here is incredible. The administration truly creates an atmosphere where employees are supported and appreciated, which is so rare. Everyone does their job with such a high level of intention and dedication. When looking for a facility for my dad with dementia, we visited several places. While they all had many positives, we decided that a place that specialized in memory care was the perfect fit.After all, one specialized field instead of different interests (independent, assisted, etc) seemed to fit my dad's needs best. . Everyone at Artis welcomed dad and made a hard transition as easy as possible. The staff is so compassionate, friendly and respectful. They have encouraged dad to get involved in their many activities and always seem to be around when he’s confused to calm him and make him feel secure.

My mom was a resident at Artis Senior Living of Bridgetown for almost 5 years. Since the moment she walked through their front door, Artis was her home. She was treated with love, care, compassion and dignity throughout her continued decline with Alzheimer's. The care partners and staff care for the residents the same way they would expect their own loved ones to be cared for. All aspects of the facility is built around what is best for the residents - providing daily life-enriching activities for residents including, exercise of the mind and body, ability to get outside when weather is good, an area to work on individual crafts and hobbies, live musical entertainment, areas for quiet conversation, religious services, and so much more. The facility is clean, the food is good with options, the residents rooms are a nice size. Artis provides a safe and loving home for loved ones with dementia.

When we decided we needed to find a facility for mom, Artis was our first choice, we had heard about through friends caring for their aging parents. I can't say enough nice things about the care provided by Artis. They work to keep the residents engaged and happy. Moving my wife Jacquie, into the memory care home was one of the most difficult decisions for me because I, in a sense was passing judgment on how I thought she felt and what she was doing. Yet I hoped she would be better cared for than what I could provide on a 24/7 day basis. There were so many great things about Artis . The activity staff are superb and the nursing staff really care about the clients. Unfortunately the staff burned out and the facility was so often short staffed and worked short making it less than a safe place especially for the level of acuity of these clients. As they are self pay, there are things they aren’t held to in terms of safety under regulations. If your loved one is physically healthy the risk you’ll take is lower .

Artis Senior Living in Bridgetown specializes in memory care. It is evident in the care given to the residents that providing quality care is the expectation. Our mother was a resident of Artis in Bridgetown for 53 days and we visited her daily. My brothers and I transferred our mother to Artis from another memory care residence in Oakley. After the move, we quickly realized how poorly managed the previous residence was and how inadequately trained and lacking in compassion many of the care givers and staff from the first residence were compared to staff at Artis. Here are many of the things we noticed while our mother was a resident of Artis in Bridgetown: *Attentive staff and care-partners. Staff at Artis is there to work! They are NOT spending time focused on their cell phones. In fact, you will never see care partners at Artis spending time on their cell phones. Walkie Talkies are used to communicate among staff members. * Well organized responsibilities and jobs and everyone WORKED TOGETHER to help out. The focus was ALWAYS on the residents and their needs. *Care partners and nurses responded promptly, courteously, and willingly whenever we requested help with our mother during our visits or called to check on her. I was NEVER made to feel like I was a bother or taking too much time. In fact, common phrases I heard at Artis were, “I will be back to check on you” and “If you need anything let me know.” *Documentation was completed and readily available regarding our mother’s food consumption, showers, medication, behavior, and mood changes. All records could be accessed quickly when requested. *An activity director is there DAILY. She escorted residents to the activity room throughout the day and after dinner to participate in PLANNED, INTERESTING, and FUN activities. Residents were always encouraged to participate! They did NOT spend their day in front of a television. *Staff spoke to residents respectfully. I NEVER heard anyone raise their voice in anger or speak rudely to residents. Staff NEVER walked past a resident without a SMILE and cheerful HELLO. *Mom’s room was always CLEAN and smelled so fresh. Trash was emptied daily. Laundry did not pile up. Clothes were cleaned, folded and placed neatly in drawers. Bedsheets were changed once a week or as needed. *My brothers and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Artis of Bridgetown if you are searching for a residence specializing in memory care. We are GRATEFUL to the ENTIRE STAFF at Artis for treating our mother respectfully and compassionately and for making her final days, days of dignity and peace. We will never forget you.

We are so very grateful for ARTIS and the ARTIS team. They could not have done anything more or better during the transition of my mom to the her new home. It is a very difficult thing for any family to do and each team member, to a person, was able to relate and somehow ease our pain during the process. The culture of the team reflects the leadership in that they all just want to do everything they possibly can to help the residents live their best life. The "ARTIS Way" isn't just a marketing ploy. The team is attentive, responsive, and all seem to love what they do. This is paramount to me, especially during the pandemic, as I have not been able to spend much in-person time with my mom. She appears to be happy and healthy and seems to be thriving in the environment. She has friends and value in her life. The team understand that each resident and each family is unique with unique circumstances. The communication (text, email, social media posts) is frequent and transparent to the point where I feel fully informed and rarely have to reach out for specifics. It is a joy to see and hear of the activities that my mom and her friends participate in. I told a good friend that what I should do when it came time to move my mom from her home of almost 60 years was a years long prayer and I feel that God answered my prayer.

My mother was a resident of Artis Senior Living of Bridgetown for about a year and a half. She was one of the original residents when the facility opened. In fact, because we asked, they allowed her to move in before her scheduled entry date when she had a hospital stay. It was not safe for her to return home from the hospital. When we toured Artis, we could tell it was a different type of place. I have seen other nursing homes and assisted living centers many times. Artis is not a nursing home or standard assisted living center. They only do memory and dementia care. Artis is not just a facility. It is a system. It is more of a family type setting. In each wing, each resident has their own room and bathroom. There are 16 rooms in each wing. At mealtime, all residents eat together in a dining room. There is a living room in each wing. All residents are encouraged to take part in activities, of which there are a few each day. Staff and residents get to know each other. Quarterly care conferences keep families and staff on the same page. While not a skilled care facility, nurses insure that all residents get their prescribed medications and oversee medical needs, communicating with physicians when necessary. Aides tend to other physical needs. The chef and other staff insure that nutritional needs are met. When mom could no longer live on her own, we are glad we chose Artis Senior Living of Bridgetown.
