Avamere at Rio Rancho – Reviews
Stay away from this home. Caregivers walk out with medical devises and nobody stops them, way understaffed, denying showers to residents, Medicine is given out by untrained staff, Room were medication is kept is way too hot, Maintenance and Housekeeping are not doing their job. Supervisors are only there to receive a paycheck but not to help when in need. People that were let go because of mistreating the residents are hired back. Not enough or not at all incontinence products. Cook has no clue how to cook for the elderly.
What a wonderful community! The residents are so happy, which speaks volumes about their management and staff. Apartments have been newly renovated which is a plus!
I can't believe how lucky our family is to have landed at Avamere. My grandma and mom live side-by-side in independent studios in the Assisted Living side, and have all their needs met and then some, and then some more. They have lived there since the summer of 2021. Last November my Aunt passed away and Kim, the Director, sat with our family for what felt like hours while we tried to tell my grandma (who is almost deaf and has early onset dementia) the heartbreaking news in a gentle way. That to me was exemplary of the quality of care my family has received at this facility. As I type this, I realize that they bring new meaning to the phrase "quality of care" for me. They are truly a caring community. And they are all, every single soul who works there, doing their very best through incredibly trying times. I am filled with gratitude for you all. Thank you for what you do.
Today I went to Avamere to visit my mom in the memory care unit and was met at the door by one of the caretakers who greeted me with his usual upbeat personality. He helped me take care of some things in my moms room and I watched him with other residents and was very impressed by this young man. He knew each residents needs, and I watched them smile and be at ease with him. He was thoughtful, caring, and kind and I left in peace knowing that he was taking care of my mom. You can tell when being a caretaker is someone’s calling and not just a job to them. Thank you Alex, I hope management recognizes your kind heart and commitment to treating the residents as if they were your own family.
This building stinks. It smells like bodily fluids and we looked at the memory care and didn't see a caregiver. Residents were just sitting in front of the tv with no one watching them. No way will I move my dad here.
Mom has been here for almost 8 years. We are dealing with a global workforce shortage. No one is immune. Given that, I have always felt that mom has received the best and attentive care around the clock. Most appreciative of Sue. Can't begin to tell you how often I have talked with this individual at 2am over the past decade. She is amazing. The fact that they have not had a resident die of covid speaks volumes on their attention to keeping everyone safe. Craig
My Mother has been there for years, through changes, and the pandemic. The care she has received has been top notch, the truly have done everything to help her as her dementia has gotten worse! Could not ask for a better place for my Mother, they are the best! Thank you Avamere, and God Bless you all!
Keep up the good work! The rewards are endless! Your pictures show a very warm and inviting place that would make someone that is looking for assisted living would want to explore.
Great and clean place
We had a very positive experience with Avamere. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to be helpful. We talked to some of the residences and every one of them loved Avamere. We thought the place was very clear and we had lunch and dinner there and the food was excellent. We are very happy with Avamere.
Great and clean place.
Thank you Sodalis San Marcos for loving on our seniors! I love our Sodalis San Marcos community and how small and quaint our home is. This gives us a chance to really get to know each and every resident and focus on their needs! Our care staff and Executive Director are above and beyond and really care for our residents!
I'm very happy here at Avamere at Rio Rancho (formerly Brookdale Rio Rancho). It's a good choice. The food is outstanding. I put on 15 pounds. I'm very happy with the care. It's very good. I have no problem at all with anything. There are daily exercises, movies every night in the theater room, and arts and crafts. There's a nice trail where they can walk on. The facility and the maintenance group are good. The place had been renovated when it was sold. They spruced it up a little bit. It has a large outdoor and a beautiful courtyard in the middle of the property. I like it a lot. We go to the community senior center, which is one of the best senior centers in the state. I go over there for country and western dancing. The convenience to the senior center is a huge plus. It's a three-minute drive from our place.
Brookdale staff has taken great care of my parents. Gabriel, Melissa, Justina, Shirley, Kathleen and the entire staff are kind, caring and professional. Thank you for all you do!!
I've had the pleasure of working with the dedicated professionals at Brookdale Senior Living here in Rio Rancho for several years as a member of the Senior Community. They have all been so compassionate with the residents of which they serve. I personally work closely with Justina and Gabriel when coordinating care for a future resident. I have been extremely impressed with their dedication to the Senior Community here in New Mexico and how they are always willing to go the extra mile for each move-in. Keep of the great work!
Justina Lopez is fabulous! She is very friendly and extremely helpful. I would not only recommend Brookdale Rio Rancho, I would recommend Justina!
This place has potential but is still working out the kinks. The location is good, the price is right, and the rooms are fairly large. The maintenance is not good; the maintenance engineer during the week is not very proactive or very well organized. The activities director is new and has not hit her stride yet. Many times the activities director failed to show up for planned activities. There is a obvious lack of communication between employees at the facility, which results in room cleaning being overlooked and laundry not being done. That said, if they improve the management of the facility and work to engage the residents, they could have a first class facility. I truly hope that they overcome their current growing pains.
From my experience, Brookdale Rio Rancho is the best. I was impressed with their flexibility and having access to different things in the area. They had a van that will take you anywhere. It had a homier feel and was very accommodating. I stayed in Brookdale at Albuquerque, so I knew what to expect, and I prefer staying with Brookdale.
My mother has been in the Memory Care unit at Brookdale Rio Rancho for several months now & we have been pleased with the care she has received. In spite of Alzheimer's, my mother is healthier & looking better now than she has in the last few years. We have found the staff very attentive to the needs of the residents, cheerful & caring despite how difficult some of the residents can be. A new executive director took over @2 months ago & has been making many positive improvements. The staff of the Memory Care unit have always been welcoming to the families and caregivers of the residents and have allowed us to provide for some of the needs & care of our family members. The nursing staff is exceptional in their care & they work with us to ensure that my Mother's health & medical needs are properly addressed. Brookdale Rio Rancho is a very nice, moderately priced facility that has ensured that my Mother has been well cared for. In addition, Brookdale Rio Rancho shows great caring and compassion for the family members of residents by providing a family member's support group. The first month my Mother was at Brookdale was extremely stressful for us not knowing what to expect with Alzheimer's. The support group helped us to get thru that difficult period by meeting & talking with other family members & finding that we weren't alone in this. The support group helps us to make each visit something to look forward to.
We moved my mother into a 1-bedroom apartment at Brookdale Rio Rancho. But it was too far away from the elevator and she couldn't handle it. So they helped us move her into a studio right across from the elevator. The staff has been very caring and very helpful. They helped us move things in and out. So far everything's been great.
The person who took us on the tour at Brookdale Rio Rancho was very nice. We spent probably an hour in the assisted living and watched how people interacted with the clients, so that was kind of nice. They did a lot of different activities with the residents. They attempt to learn about their residents, like how long their attention spans are, their physical activity levels, and things like that. They also gauge who wants to participate and who really doesn't, which was really neat. They had some people who were working with clay, other people were coloring, and one man who just didn't want to get involved in anything, and that was OK. They didn't try to force him to do anything. He wasnt really having a good day, so they weren't forcing him or verbally abusive or anything like that even though he was being difficult.
We visited Brookdale Rio Rancho (formerly Emeritus at Sandia Springs). The facilities were fine, but they did not have a private room available at that time. It was a little large and would be overwhelming for my mother to not know where or who she because of her condition right now. It seemed nice otherwise. The rooms seemed very fine, clean, and spacious. We liked the fact that they had rails along the hallways. The people seemed to be informative. What stood out that day was they were having music for the people there and gathering the people around.
I receive full service provided.
I did visit Emeritus at Sandia Springs, and I was happy with it. I liked the activities and its neatness. It looked very nice, and it was well kept. The people were very courteous. I was very impressed.
My mother has lived here for over a year. It is an excellent place. The social director Christina is great. The real quality is the folks that care for mom at night and on the weekends. Folks like Sue and Louis make it easy for me to relax and know my mom is being taken care of in a caring and professional manner. Craig
