My parents Dar and Nellie Muceno live at Abbotswood at Irving Park. The administration, and staff are WONDERFUL! Everyone is so nice and sweet to all of us. The dining room, reception, maintenance. The Physical Therapists are TOP NOTCH. Nursing is so great! I cannot say enough. I love that it is just the right size. The place has a lot of activities, is always beautiful, clean and lively! Thank you!

My mother mom has been a resident of Abbotswood for about six years. I visit her there about once week, so I know the place very well. It has my very strong recommendation. It has excellent facilities, a warm atmosphere, and all in all is a vibrant and inviting community which affords a great deal of flexibility in living arrangements for individuals with a great variety of wants and needs.

I have had the pleasure of working with Sam, Shannon and Sydney. They have taken care of each family I have referred to Abbottswood and have taken extra special care of those families who are struggling with a family member with dementia. They truly make it seamless!

I have worked with Shannon Norman over the past four years and have visited the property numerous times. I always find the staff to be friendly and welcoming, and the environment to be very inviting. The lobby, dining room, and common areas are lovely, comfortable and well-maintained. Any team member Ive encountered have been professional and knowledgeable. I am not well so I have not been able to visit with my relatives. Speaking to them on the phone left me with such a wonderful feeling of peace. I did not directly have to ask either of them any questions to know they were safe, happy and being cared for properly. Im pleased with the assisted living situation they chose when taking care of their house was going to be too much.

Upon my visit to Abbotswood, I was greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello. The facilities were sparkling clean and there was a sense of a family atmosphere. The residents seemed to be happy and enjoying the activities.

My dad transferred to Abbotswood after a terrible experience at another facility. When he arrived, he was severely depressed and very weak physically. With some urging from the staff, he became interested in making friends at Abbotswood and started doing physical therapy there as well. I truly believe the caring and kind people at Abbotswood saved his life. After being there for 6 months or so, he is much stronger physically and his mental status has improved greatly. I am so glad we found Abbotswood. I have nothing but thanks and praise to everyone who works there. Keep it up!

I have been a caregiver here at Abbotswood for 11 years and I tell you this is a wonderful place to live and work. The residents are kept entertained with all sorts of events and activities, the fine dining they provide is exceptional , and the staff is so caring and attentive to residents needs. A great place for seniors leaving their own homes to call their new home.

I want to share my great experiences with Abbotswood. I have visited for over 3 years. The staff is always very helpful and positive. Smiles everywhere - from MarketingSales, Housekeeping, ED, and CNAs! (The man in transportation is about the happiest man Ive ever met.) I have been to many functions and they are always top-notch. The community is clean, and well-run. My highest praise, however, is for their new community for people with high-functioning dementia. My mother fits in this category and I look forward to seeing residents thrive!

I have been a proud employee at Abbotswood for about 5 years now and the service here is unmatched. Having come from a sister community, I am able to compare and contrast the services offered and I tell you the staff here is very professional. Everyone is friendly from the residents to the Executive Director. This is a great place to work! If you are seeking employment, or searching for a living community for a family member you should definitely consider Abbotswood! Abbotswood is an amazing community. Every time I visit it feels like home because the staff know me by name. I can rest easy in knowing that my Mom is being cared for by such a dedicated and caring staff. The socialization opportunities are endless and I also find comfort in knowing there are higher levels of care if there is ever a need. I highly recommend Abbotswood to anyone seeking a retirement community for their loved one.

I can unequivocally give Abbotswood @ Irving Park 5 out of 5 stars! From the time we entered the building, we knew we were someplace special. The entireties of the staff – from the sales, to skilled nursing, to the dining room servers were welcoming, obliging, and happy (which is not always the case in senior facilities!) The residents we encountered were equally cheerful! My father decided on that 1st visit that this was the place for him, and fortunately there was an apartment that would be available to him in a weeks time. Unfortunately, as is often the case with elderly parents, we experienced a medical emergency with my Dad several days before his scheduled move-in. The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care…an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! The restaurants serve wonderful food, and are accommodating for each residents particular needs! I doubt you will find anything in the Triad that is even close to the gem that Abbotswood is!

For myself and my family, the most important consideration in selecting a senior living community for my mother was whether the community was friendly, loving, and full of happy residents. Do the associates who work there know all the residents by name, and vice versa, from a bond of mutual respect and appreciation? Abbotswood excels in this respect. People there are happy. There is a real community that is welcoming and not snobby to new arrivals. There are plenty of secondary considerations. Here are some: Is there a huge buy-in? No. You basically pay month-to-month like for an apartment. So there is no barrier to leaving if you are unhappy, and the organization is incentivized to keep residents happy. Which they seem to do well. Are the associates and staff attentive? Tremendously so. They attack any problem or issue, whether it is maintenance, need a new power cord for the cable box, etc within hours if not minutes. Felix, the head of maintenance, is fantastic. But everyone there steps forward to accept and solve problems even if they rightly should have been directed to another staff member. You never hear, thats not my job. Staff of Abbotswood, take a bow. It is so rare to encounter that level of friendly, professional service. Providing it while serving the elderly, who often are not as able to verbalize their appreciation, marks a special organization at all levels. Hows the food? Surprisingly excellent. Also super flexible; there is an anytime menu a resident can order from at all hours, and they are happy to pack up a meal gratis if you are sick or just want to have your meal in your apartment instead of the dining room. Facilities? Well kept and nice. New buildings are going up soon. Apartments in the main building are up to 2 BR and a little over 1200 sqft. Also conveniently located on Elm street. Abbotswood continues to surprise me in positive ways. It should be on the short list of any family looking at the top tier of senior living facilities in Greensboro. Just ask the residents in the halls, many of whom are retired doctors, professionals, even WW2 vets and others. We are blessed to have found Abbotswood.
