My Mom was ready for assisted living so I reached out to A Place for Mom and was referred to 4 places to start looking. We were very fortunate to have Brookdale East as our first place to look into. Mom and I met w Bridget and toured the facility and ate lunch w a resident who filled us in on the day to day at Brookdale. I must say that the food was and has been not just ok, but very good. Mom chose her apartment that afternoon and is now a new resident. I want to thank every employee at Brookdale for making my mother feel so welcome. Starting in the kitchen, Chef Juan can really cook. Daryl and Chris are servers and strive to please and are very pleasant. Its obvious that Serene and Nachelle love their job and the residents. Mary has to be the best Director we have had the pleasure of dealing with. I want to thank Derrick and Terry of the maintenance team for jumping on the small issues that Mom was having. Thank you to Levi for all you do, you are amazing. A special thanks to Bridget who was instrumental in mom's decision to choose Brookdale. As her son, I am grateful to everyone here, it's such a relief knowing my mother is at a place she loves calling home and that is full of amazing people.

Transitioning my uncle from New Jersey to North Carolina has been a significant endeavor. Ensuring that he would have a place where he could maintain his independence, enjoy a high quality of life, and feel comfortable was paramount to us. Fortunately, we found all of these qualities and more at Brookdale Charlotte East. I must commend Bridget White for her exceptional support throughout this process. From our initial inquiry to my scheduled visit and now to the upcoming move-in on Thursday, Bridget has been an invaluable resource, always available to address any concerns and guide us through the transition with reassurance and professionalism. Our confidence in our decision was solidified on Monday, April 8th, 2024, when we began moving my uncle's belongings into Brookdale Charlotte East. The warm welcome we received, evidenced by the notes on his door and the helpfulness of the staff, exceeded our expectations. Even the residents took the time to greet us, offering words of encouragement and sharing their own experiences. I've also heard nothing but praise for the food, which Margaret on the third floor was kind enough to mention. These small but meaningful gestures, along with meeting residents like Margaret and Barbara, affectionately referred to as "newbies," further reinforced our belief that we made the right choice in selecting Brookdale Charlotte East as my uncle's new home. The decision to choose a senior living residence can be challenging, but our interactions with the staff and residents, along with the thoughtful touches we've observed, have affirmed our confidence in Brookdale Charlotte East. We are grateful for the welcoming atmosphere and the genuine care shown to my uncle, and we look forward to his continued happiness and well-being in his new community.

My grandfather has been living at Brookdale Charlotte East for about a year and a half and we have loved the care he's receiving. Every time we visit, both the residents and staff are very friendly and pleasant. My grandfather is an extremely picky eater, but is always satisfied with the food provided. His nurses and care providers (PT, OT, etc.) truly care for him and provide quality care. There are a variety of activities/entertainment options for the residents and the outside of the building is beautiful due to the wildlife sanctuary. We are so thankful for all of the people at Brookdale Charlotte East!

I contemplated on whether or not I should do this review, but I feel in my heart I have to let others be aware. My father was put in this facility to be monitored, and in the event, something happened somebody would be aware. Unfortunately, that did not happen. My father passed away in this facility, and no one knew about it for almost a week later. This facility is supposed to have daily buttons that the residence select to let them know that they are OK and just to kind of check in. When I asked why my dad was not checked on after he did not select the button and once they did the research, something is faulty with their check in system. They promised they would look into it and get the issue resolved but I just want people who review this and decided to put their love ones in this facility to please check the button make sure that the button is working and that the staff can see the button, and that its working on their end as well. I don't want anybody to have to go through what we did. It was hard enough that my father passed, but it was even harder, knowing that he sat there, and nobody looked in on him. So please make sure they are checking on you loved ones and make sure their buttons are working!

It was impossible to make the trip to view Brookdale, but the virtual visit with a representative was so informative and thorough. We are so pleased that members of our family will be moving there shortly!

Bridget was AWESOME! She helped us through the process of talking with our mom and getting us just the right apartment. Moving cross-country is a task and knowing that we did not have to worry where made that easier. The facility is set on beautiful tree lined spaces, the residents and staff seemed engaged and we found ourselves feeling like we were "home". We look forward to many years together.

Unfortunately my mom was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. They made her move to assisted living stress free. I’ve never met or seen so many compassionate people as I have there. The staff are courteous and compassionate with what they do. The staff are truly the backbone to Brookdale Charlotte east... Diane, Michelle, Franchescsa, Serene.... I can’t list them all... so if you’re looking for a place for your loved one. This is it.

A wonderful community with a lot to offer.

My grandma is on almost her 3rd week here. It is clean and staff is friendly and the residents create a welcome atmosphere. Issues I have to begin is they don't serve lunch nor any meals on the weekend aside from brunch. For the amount of money they charge meals need to be served consistently. The amount of extra money needed to buy more food for lunches and weekend meals can become exorbitant. We weren't told this when they sold us on this independent apartment. Additionally they charge $400 if you want food delivered. The most upsetting thing about this facility is the staff has no idea about the aging process or what happens when seniors have certain things happening. They saw my grandma having a trying day and immediately began to peg and upsale her for assisted living. In no way is she ready for assisted living. I am a licensed Gerontologist and have made it clear we have an entire care team monitoring her and when she is ready for assisted living it won't be at Brookdale for 5k a month, she will come home with us. I have a major problem as a professional in the field seeing facilities sale these over priced accommodations not knowing anything about the biological, psychological nor social aspects of aging. They freak out at any hiccup and push for levels of care not needed or necessary to gain a buck. Additionally to put a fully independent person in assisted living because they had a bad day is not good for the resident. Seniors who are relegated to inappropriate levels of care or misdiagnosed with dementia create harmful losses of mobility and inappropriate levels ofncare and treatment. We have decided to move her out and get her another apartment for her to go back to living here best life outside the prying eyes of untrained marketing staff making assumptions and calls for levels of care they have no idea what they are talking about. My grandma acting out is due to nicotine withdrawal and she appears looney when we hold back cigs. But someone not trained nor hold the education or license need not speak on anyones level of care. I am also not impressed with the Diane the Director. The first day my grandma came in discombobulated with the move was assaulted with assumptions and questions and warnings if she couldn't be independent then she needs assistance. Also they watch residents in the cafeteria and because I cut a bone quicker for my grandma because she is my grandma i believe staff assumed she needed help feeding herself. Which is not the case. Too much for day one. We are absolutely taking her out of Brookdale because as with many of these facilities they are good at selling real estate but dont know Jack about the aging process or what it looks like.

I think they call it aging gracefully. When it became time for me to not live alone and have the responsibility of keeping a house, yard, etc. I decided to make a change in my life. I began my search for a new home. My first stop and only stop was Brookdale Charlotte East. I knew immediately that what I was looking for was right here in one package. I needed nice living quarters, or better known as a home, good meals, entertainment, and to be loved by friendly folks. All of this was available immediately as well as a wonderful STAFF to make it all happen. I tell my friends that if youre not happy here or if youre bored here at Brookdale Charlotte East, its your fault because there is something for everyone and its truly a wonderful place to live.
