I’ve been in a few of these skilled nursing facilities around the state of Montana. Why this one stands out I do not know but it does. I believe it is because the staff truly care about what each resident needs and desires to assist in all the day to day activities that turns a care facility to a home. The individuals that work for Laurel Health and Rehab have set this place apart, when walking the halls there is laughter and smiles on lots of faces, laughter is good medicine. If my mother ever needs a place for rehab, here is where we will come, if ever a friend cannot care for a loved one, this is where I’d recommend that love continues. Laurel Health and Rehab has gone above and beyond for the community in which they serve, keep up the strong work you all!

My mom is currently receiving care here...her room is always clean and neat. The nurses and CNAs have all been so sweet and nice to me and tell me everytime I visit how they love my mom! They all laugh and joke with her when they come in and are so good to her. The office staff is top notch Krista has been amazing in taking care of all mine and my moms concerns questions and have helped get me in touch with hospice. I can sleep peacefully at night knowing my mom is in such good hands. Thank you to all the staff!

The worst staff of worse! I am writing to formally express my outrage regarding the treatment of my mother, My mother was treated like TRASH during our recent visit to the facility. The behavior of personnel was unempathetic, rude, and disrespectful, particularly in front of my mother. Upon our arrival, we were confronted by [name removed], the Admissions Manager, who initially lied about receiving a referral for my mother. When I got the clinic on the line, she backtracked and changed her story to, "I received it but did not approve." With my mother just two feet away, [name removed] stated, "You can't leave her here." When I requested an ambulance because we could not get her back into the car, [name removed] callously responded, "She's your mother, you call an ambulance," again within earshot of my mother. This all took place during mealtime, in front of no less than 30 of current patients present. I would also like to emphasize that the Emergency Room physician sent me to Laurel from the ER, stating that "we had a bed" for her. I have witnesses who can confirm this. Additionally, I encountered another staff member with "coke bottle" glasses, who I dealt with when my mother was there last year, during which $200 worth of her clothing went missing. Instead of addressing my concerns, she began yelling at me regarding the laundry situation, and when I asked for her name, she refused to provide it. The nursing manager, Mary, eventually called an ambulance, but this should not have been necessary given the circumstances. I recently underwent major leg surgery and am currently using a walker, making it extremely difficult for me to navigate such a hostile environment. I felt ganged up on, and both my mother and I were in tears when we finally left. The lack of professionalism and compassion displayed by your staff is unacceptable. It is imperative that all patients and their families are treated with dignity and respect, especially during such vulnerable times. [name removed] and the other young lady in particular exhibited horrific behavior which I will go public with. There is no way that I would entrust her care to this facility in the future. In fact, I will file a formal complaint with the State of Montana and the Governor’s office since he has taken such an interest in shutting down shoddy facilities such as this. NO ONE SHOULD PATRONIZE THIS FACILITY.

I cannot understate the quality of the nursing professionals in this facility RN, LPNs, CNAs physical therapist, and occupational therapist are second to none. The CNAs will bend over backwards to meet your needs. They’re never angry or upset. If something doesn’t go right, they always have a smile on their face. They are some of the most friendly people I have had the chance to work with. The staff I would like to single out, starts with social services Larissa., Brandy, the transportation coordinator and CNA. Rachel Katie, Derek, Sarah, Amanda, and if I’ve forgotten any names and you know, I have each in one of the CNA staff I would love to have to work with when I was a nurse. I’d also like to thank the director of nurses for being so friendly, the physical therapist, occupational therapy activities goes above and beyond. These people will literally work their tails off just for you to make you feel like you are the only one in the building now I was a rehab patient and not a long-term care patient but the word still stands that this is one of the best places that I have could’ve been placed. I appreciate everything that they have done for me especially the CNAs. I feel like they’re my kids and I love each and every one of them when I’m feeling down or defeated they come in with a smile and help me deal with what I’m dealing with granted it’s a broken ankle, but they treat it like I am one of the only people in the world to them when they’re in my room my only discrepancy of this would be that they would receive more staffing making it easier on these kids, so they don’t burn out early. They do their best to create a community for residents to enjoy meaningful conversations along with warmth and smiles, a nice assortment of activities and holiday celebrations. Laurel Health is great! The care team really treats the patients like family and goes above and beyond for them. They show the utmost kindness and care for those around them. My dear friend Margaret was placed in Laurel Health & Rehabilitation Center in the middle of November 2022. She was 97 years old and was having a very difficult time. She was so used to being independent and was at the point where she could do anything for herself anymore. The staff was AMAZING with her. They all new her by name. They took such wonderful care of her. I tried to visit everyday but usually missed about 1 day a week. They would help her call me from her phone so she knew everything was fine. When I came I would try to make sure she got up and we went to the lunch room. They would work around the foods she like as best as they could. Everyone from the office staff, Cafeteria staff, CNA's, RN's, PT staff, visiting doctors, they were all very caring and attentive to Margaret. Margaret has passed away but I think it is important for everyone to know how she felt about this place. She wanted to stay there because she loved the people she had to deal with. Margaret was a retired nurse and she knew what it took to do that type of job and she was VERY comfortable and happy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting her feel cared for, safe, and happy those last few weeks. Pat Wilson
