This location was recommended to us through A Place for Mom - we looked at several other AL but $ and the room were not pleasing to us. We toured this location with Mitchell and were very impressed with the amenities and kindness of the staff. We did not choose this facility since we realized there was another Spectrum AL closer to our home. We have chosen the closer location and mom has already been moved in - no complaints from her yet! My mom has been here over a year. She loves it and is happy. The facility is small and nicely updated. Her studio apartment is the perfect size. She enjoys the food and her friends as well as the activities that are available. The staff has been warm and friendly.

What I would have liked to know beforehand: Southview makes an earnest effort to care for their residents, but the state mandated minimums for healthcare worker to resident ratios just aren't designed for the kind of care advertised. My family member has diabetes and lived in the Memory care unit for 5 months. Although Southview staff had initially confirmed that they were well equipped to care for a diabetic with dementia, in the 5 months he lived there, his blood sugar was an average of 300, he gained 24 pounds, and developed diabetic ulcers on his legs that both his primary care physician and his podiatrist said put him at extreme risk of diabetic infection resulting in amputation. When I tried to communicate with the nursing staff about his condition, sometimes it would take them over a week to respond, and even then, the responses were snippy and sparse on information. I sympathize with a lone nurse who is caring for the medical needs of 95 patients with only a handful of med techs to help. That said, when meeting with the sales staff at the beginning of the process, they told me that my family member would have a diabetic diet in their care plan and could have in house podiatry and primary care visits. None of these statements were accurate, and when I followed up with administration and staff on the floor, they were all incredulous that I had thought they were. We ultimately decided to care for my loved one at home. I understand that that is not an option for everyone. I appreciate the efforts of those that run group care facilities, but I was dismayed at the level of care actually available at such an attractive and expensive facility. I don't know that good group care is available for patients with both diabetes and dementia.

Southview is a beautiful, warm & welcoming place and their staff especially Emina-Sales & Debby-Nursing and Lori-Memory care Activity director were so patient and understanding of our urgency of moving not 1 but both of my in laws in 1 into Memory Care & the other into Assisted Living at the same time for their safety. They helped guide us towards every step and make the move so easy.

Without a doubt, I love this place and the staff. In mid September my 93 year old Mother moved to Southview because she was at a point in her life where she needed extra care. She was still able to take her meds, shower her self, etc. Two months later she was hospitalized for a few days. Nothing was found and she went back to Southview. Unfortunately, she had 5 more hospital stays between November and January. With every hospitalization, she became more confused and unable to take care of herself. She needed to be put in hospice care. We thought we would have to move her to a skilled nursing facility but the staff at Southview brought her back, gave her extra care, hospice visited her, and she passed away peacefully without having to be moved from the facility she already had been Living. We are grateful for every day Mom lived there.

Initially very pleased with the facility when my mom moved there in 2018. Still a few very dedicated staff (Jennie, Kim), but extremely poor corporate oversight & lack of communication throughout the pandemic. Be sure to get rates in writing, as it will change when you actually move in. Do not take anything of value - lost dentures, glasses (somewhat understandable), but also brand new wheelchair (how do you lose a wheelchair??). Monitor medications closely - multiple dangerous medication errors.

My sister was having a very hard time leaving her house and garden and reluctant to move into assisted living. We both shed tears but I knew it was best. The first two months were rough adjusting but now she tells me every time we are together how much she LOVES it at Southview and that all the people are WONDERFUL! I have to pinch myself sometimes to see if Im dreaming!!!

Needed to place my Mom into Memory Care after a stroke. Couldn't be more happy with the choice I made in placing her into Southview. From the front office staff to the R.N.'s and especially the caring dedicated patient care techs have nothing but praise for all! Everyone there seems so engaged from the staff to the residents like a true community. The place is kept clean the residents are able to furnish and decorate their own little apartments. I have stayed for a meal or two and was surprised how delicious. It's a very difficult time in a child's life to have to do this to a parent. Be assured that you will at the end of a visit, feel confident that your loved one is treated with dignity and compassion and above all safe. I know I am.

Beautiful facility and it seems clean and well-kept. It even has a nice little movie theater room. However, I have heard a few complaints about the cliques the workers seem to be in, and how it negatively affects the quality of care.

My Mother lived at Southview in one of the apartments in the assisted living care - Without a doubt, the staff treated her with utmost respect, love and compassion, and looked after her as truly "one of their own". My family and I were very grateful to Southview, starting with managerial staff and right down to the medical aides etc. As a result my Mother felt very secure under their loving care. In addition, the planned activities that were conducted for the residents were very good and provided interaction with the other residents - Definitely a "hands on" facility - Without a doubt, I would highly recommend Southview to anyone as the "premier" facility of its kind.

My mom lives at Southview, one of the original tenants, she absolutely loves it there and loves the staff. I am confident she is getting the care she needs and will continue to get it throughout the progression of her Alzheimer's path.
