My mother was sent in for transitional care. She had some bad experiences in the past with short term rehabilitation, and was concerned about being sent to a new place. Sholom put her at ease quickly. The staff earned her trust, and she found the environment pleasant and comfortable enough that she was able to focus on getting better. The experience was good enough that when she needed another short term transitional care, she was pleased that she was able to go to Sholom again.

My mother was in Assisted Living for just less than a year. She felt welcome and made many new friends in her new home at Roitenburg. At the end, she chose Shalom Hospice so she could remain with her same caregivers. The team we had throughout the year and most importantly, during her time in hospice was exceptional. Her caregivers were there for her and the family at a most difficult time. Many thanks to all at Shalom West!

My father was brought to Sholom West for hospice care. All that I can say about the facility is that they were a huge blessing to my father, mother and my sister and I. The care he received was exemplary and the kindness of the staff for my family was beyond what we could have asked for. The nursing staff at Sholom are angels on earth. Nurse, Sympathy, was with us for the duration of his stay. A special thank you to her, we will not forget her. There are other names that I am not remembering, but there was another staff member that mother called her guardian, as she was always watching out for her. I wish I could thank them all personally for the kindness, compassion and knowledge. Sholom is a well run facility by people who actually care about their residents. ™

My mom stayed here for 2 weeks and we found that staff is very nice and cooperative. We had no issue throughout her stay and we highly recommend Sholom.

My mom was in the TCU for a month recovering from a fall. She received outstanding care from the staff and we felt she was safe and in good hands. Her physical therapist, Noah, got her walking better than she was before the fall. Highly recommend this facility.

I was at Sholom West for four weeks, transitioning from four weeks in the hospital to home. The care was excellent, especially the six-day a week OT and PT sessions. Sara (sp) the weekday OT, and Noah the most consistent PT were especially good and helpful! They were instrumental in my transition to home. Another shoutout to nurse Joel for excellent care! Overall a five star rating!

We could not have had a better experience moving our mom into Sholom. It was a very big move for her as well as all of our family. The care that the team provides for the residents is amazing from the nurses to the activities team to the front desk attendants. The activities program is amazing! Even if your parent doesn't like doing a lot of the events, Emily (who is a saint) makes sure to include them. One day there was flower arranging, my mom liked doing it the first time, but the second time she was not up to going down for it, so Emily brought up to her an arrangement, just because. She knew my mom liked it but also was sweet enough to understand she wasn't up for the socialization so she brought her flowers instead. To know there is someone who looks after our mom when we are not there is way more than we ever expected! It means the world! We are so thankful for everyone there and highly recommend Sholom!

I went to Sholom West the same day I had knee replacement surgery (May 2, 2025) and am so glad they had room for me! The staff was friendly, kind and responsive. Many of the staff have been there for 7, 8 and 9 years. That tells you something about the place. My physical therapy was amazing and got me moving very well very quickly. My room and bathroom were cleaned daily and anything I needed appeared. The 4 star rating was because of the food. I understand from others who had been there longer than me (I was there 1 week) that the meals were rarely repeated. Instead of coming up with 40 or 50 mediocre meals I wish they would rotate 10 or 12 really good ones. Breakfast was always good but some of the entrees were mysterious.

Great changes recently! The place is clean, well maintained. Timely services, nice entertainment programs and activities outside (summer time) and inside. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Easy communication on any level. Prompt response to requests from families. Definitely would recommend this place. Still some improvement needed in food preparation quality and variety offered.

No place is perfect. This is better than most. Family members should monitor their loved ones care no matter where they are - a few times weekly. I place the blame on family members who are "too busy." Some staff are there for the paycheck - some truly care. you'll find who is who soon enough.

Compared to other extended care facilities it isn’t bad. Compared with ideal of care, it could be much better. Nobody should be here without an outside advocate to coordinate their care.

My mom had a seizure resulting in a TBI and went to Shalom west tcf after a week long hospitalization. She was only there a few days and needed a lot of support, she was very unsteady and would frequently get up out of bed without assistance making her a big fall risk. On multiple occasions when we pushed the call light we waited up to 20 min for a staff to come in to check on her. If it had been an emergency or she had fallen when I was not there I shudder to think what could have happened with such slow response time. Some of the nurses were nice, that is the only compliment I can give the place.

My mother was a resident for almost 5 years. Yes, I had my share of issues with this facility over the years. However, the bottom line is that 99% of the staff are loving, caring people. This is more than just a job to them. They have a heart for this. I will be forever grateful to the staff at Sholom Home West for treating my mother with respect and love.
