Vernon Terrace has been such a blessing for our family. What touches me most is how genuinely they care for my mom’s comfort and dignity. The food is wonderful, but it’s the way they handle it that means the most — on days when she doesn’t feel up to joining everyone in the dining room, her meals are brought directly to her apartment with such kindness and understanding. It makes her feel looked after without ever feeling pressured. I have also been impressed with the other residents I have met. The Vernon Terrace community is full of interesting people with diverse backgrounds and life stories. The opportunities for connection and engagement here are real. I am grateful to see Mom as part of a community again. The combination of great food, supportive staff, and a truly engaging resident community has made it a perfect fit for her. We’re deeply grateful to Vernon Terrace for giving her a place where she feels safe, respected, and truly at home.

Placing a loved one in memory care is never easy, however our family’s experience with the Willows at Vernon Terrace made this difficult transition as seamless as possible. From the beginning, their thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and quality of care was evident as we toured the Willows facility and interviewed staff. Their intake process encompassed more than a medical diagnosis — it also focused on learning about our dad’s vibrant past, along with his likes and dislikes. Once he was situated in his new home, everyone on the care team went above and beyond to help our dad acclimate to his new environment. We were impressed by their extensive daily programming designed to engage residents, foster connection, and enhance quality of life. Family members are welcome to participate in a wide range of activities such as crafts, games, music, movies, and religious services, and we enjoyed joining our dad for bingo, trivia, and mass. He also loved the many field trips, holiday parties, and birthday celebrations arranged by the Willows team. The memory care staff was attentive and diligent in assisting with lifestyle needs such as grooming, housekeeping, and laundry. The on-site PT and OT services helped identify adaptive equipment to ensure a safe environment for our dad. In addition, the Director of Nursing provided expert guidance and supportive counsel as our dad’s care needs changed. If you are evaluating memory care facilities, our family highly recommends The Willows at Vernon Terrace. We are so grateful for the love and care they provided our dad, and the kindness they extended to us.

My almost 90 year old mom moved into Vernon Terrace last August. She receives excellent care here and the experience has allowed our family to have the peace of mind that she is safe, happy and fulfilled. The facility is well maintained, offers excellent meals and plenty of activities. In addition, her apartment is very well appointed and comfortable. This move has been very positive and it is a relief to not have to worry that my mom is getting the care she needs. Great senior living experience!

We came here kicking and fighting as we did not want to leave our personal residence after so many years. After being here three months we know this was the right decision and for so many reasons. Being within walking distance of a grocery , hardware and drug stores, library, senior center and church are all huge bonuses we didn’t think much about when originally making our decision. Also, the bus service to shopping and medical appointments is huge. All of these conveniences combined with the caring and friendly attitude of the staff, from the Director to dining room staff, make Vernon Terrace a very special place. Now, we’re glad to be here!

Vernon Terrace has been a blessing for our family. My mother moved from a different memory care community that wasn’t as good a fit. The people that work at Vernon Terrace are truly devoted to their jobs and treat my mother with such kindness and patience. My dad visits everyday day and he feels so welcome there. VT has very high standards in who they hire, how they run the building and how they take care of their residents. I encourage anyone looking for a wonderful neighborhood senior living community to put Vernon Terrace on your list to visit.

My mom didn't want to leave her home of 57 years, but she agreed a Senior Living Community would be safer and provide her a more social setting. We chose Vernon Terrace late last summer because it was a well appointed and maintained facility, not to mention a great location. I'm pleased to see that my mom has been taking advantage of all the activities and events at VT. She plays bingo, goes to movies, exercise class, etc. She uses the van service taking her on group activities to places like Murry's Steak House, Red Lobster, the Swedish Institute, drives through Edina to see the Christmas lights, and shopping. The facilities speak for themselves, but the staff are what make it so great. Whether its the front desk receptionists, maintenance folks, van driver, or management staff and supervisors, they all know my mom by name, making her feel welcome and safe. For me, its peace of mind seeing her flourish and knowing she's in good hands.
November 2022
My family member has been at Vernon Terrace for about 2-3 years now. The staff at VT are very nice but the nursing care has really gone downhill since LifeSpark Healthcare Services left. Ebenezer has recently taken over providing nursing care and they have been very disappointing. We have found days worth of medications left on the table untaken. The problem continues even after we met with the nursing director about it six weeks ago. Ebenezer also was charging for services that we did not ask for and we are currently still working on resolving hundreds of dollars of extra charges. We hope things will improve but not feeling very optimistic at this time. For people who don't need the nursing care, VT is great, but right now I cannot recommend Vernon Terrace to those who require extra help.

Last summer, in isolation, our 89 year-old mother was declining both mentally and physically in the transitional care unit of her large assisted living facility after breaking her arm. We pulled her out and cared for her (24/7) in my sister’s home for 2 ½ weeks. We knew we couldn’t keep it up long term, but didn’t want to send her back to her former facility. My sister, an RN, contacted Vernon Terrace, inquiring about the Willows, their memory care unit. The facility manager and nurse there spent lots of time answering our questions. Since moving Mom in on 7/3/20, the staff at the Willows has worked closely with us and Mom’s doctor to give her the personalized care she’s needed to help improve her physical, cognitive, and emotional/social well-being. We are in regular, direct contact with a nurse dedicated to the Willows, who does a fantastic job communicating about Mom’s care with us and a staff of friendly, loving Health Care Aides. My mom just loves her helpers! During COVID, and before the implementation of the MN Guidelines on Essential Care-Givers allowed me to have regular access to my Mom in her room, the Willows encouraged and supported regular visits from family members with Mom on the outside patio, and visitors socially distanced on the outside of the patio fence. That face to face contact with Mom has been a life saver. The bottom line is that the staff at Vernon Terrace/The Willows has consistently worked with us to provide personalized care for Mom during this time when so many seniors are suffering terribly due to the isolation of COVID. We’re really grateful she’s there.

I was very lucky back in April of 2019 that they had space for my father At the Willows. The staff is very thoughtful and helpful. Before Covid19 we were able to go go fishing and have parties. They Have done a wonderful job on handling the Covid19 virus . Zoom calls , patio time I’m very grateful for them going the extra mile. So, I can say they nurses and the staff are wonderful.

My mother recently moved from her own apartment at Vernon Terrace into the Willows. The staff of both Vernon Terrace and Lifesprk have been incredibly loving and caring, truly looking out for our family’s best interests. Communication is wonderful, activities robust and moms apartment is darling. She feels secure, and so do we. Thank you Willows staff!

My mother is a resident of The Willows, having moved from Vernon Terrace. She appreciates the well appointed units throughout the facilities and best of all, the staff have been so very kind and caring. We are grateful for the personal connection made with each person. The facility is quiet and warm, guided with dignity for all!

This is a wonderful spot. The staff is efficient and responsive to the needs of the residents.
March 2019
My parents moved here in 2011 and enjoyed it from the start. Their apartment was spacious and quiet and the neighbors friendly. Management and staff are kind, efficient and responsive to residents. The underground parking was a big plus, food services are comprehensive, and assisted care takes many forms. There are also so many activities and services for residents. After the death of one parent, my other parent moved into the memory care unit, called The Willows. We considered other memory care facilities but this one stood out because it is relatively small and the apartments are so big compared to every other place we saw. The Vernon Terrace staff, as well as the aides and nurses from care provider LifeSprk, are particularly attentive. They organize and lead activities all day long for the residents, including outings once or twice a week. At the same time, residents are free to opt out of those activities and live their own lives. The staff and residents form a lively little community where friends and relatives always feel welcome.
March 2019
My mother moved into the Willows in October and it has been a totally positive experience for her. The facility itself is very attractive and with her own furnishings in her “suite,” she feels very much at home. Best of all, the staff is absolutely outstanding – kindness personified! My mother loves them. The programs for the residents are enriching and the professional care is top-notch. Having my mother at the Willows has given me tremendous peace of mind.

I’ve witnessed other independent living communities and this is night and day a more positive atmosphere . I’d recommend Vernon Terrace to anybody looking for quality and loving care for their loved ones in the twin cities.
